Yawn listened to him, hearing him shuffle about as he seemed to be preparing something. She didn't know what it was until she heard him speak in a strange dialect. Uncanny to the other words he had previously said she could only assume he was casting a spell and seconds later she could feel it as he poured some of the vial out. She leaned forward slightly, placing one hand on the edge of the bed in front of her to brace herself as she leaned towards where she believed Kairn was.
"D-drink?" She asked to him as he handed her the vial. "uhm... okay." She said after a moment, giving Kairn a nod. She wasn't sure if he was going to hand it to her since she was blind and decided instead to cock her head upwards and open her mouth, waiting for him to pour the liquid in. Although it may be odd to see, being a slave for most of her life it was natural for her to be fed by another.
(OOC: I got it! It's Draconic meaning "By the Ancient Blood, Transmute!". Although being a slave Yawn won't know the words as she only just knows enough common to get by. I believe that Yawns language skills would be considered undercommon in most D&D)

Kairn nodded "Now like i said, this stuff tastes horrible, just swallow it as fast as you can" He would tip the vial up and pour it into her mouth. The taste would be enough to bring one close to being sick, tasting of rubber mixed with sour milk. He would help brace her if she had a strong reaction to the taste, but once it was down she would feel rejuvenated and healthy as could be. It would just be how she felt though as the potion was strong enough to drive out foreign magics.
It wouldnt alleviate her petrifying eye but any other curse would not only be broken but its caster would even suffer feedback if there was a link to them. After everything was said and done he would give her a piece of leftover steak to help get that flavor out of her mouth. "How do you feel?"

Yawn took all the liquid in her mouth, struggling to make sure every drop entered her mouth before she closed it. It was obvious that she instantly reacted to the taste, shutting her hands over her mouth to keep the liquid from gushing out again as a waterfall of hears began to flow from her mask. She made whimpers, struggling desperately to swallow the liquid but it seemed nearly fruitless as her gag reflex showed too powerful to let the liquid go down. She was crying, trying to swallow it but failing to as she hunched her back, her whole body shaking. Her tailed whipped around, contorting into odd shapes like a worm trapped on a hook. It took her a while but finally the satisfying sound of gulping came, the liquid going down finally.
It wasn't over however as she still seemed to react, taking her hands off her mouth and opening her mouth to take a few deep breaths before covering her mouth again, obviously preparing to vomit. She was worried, considering Kairn had said that it would be alright once swallowed however the taste lingered on her snake tongue. Her tongue was so sensitive that it was causing her to gag even though she felt relief. She didn't vomit however and after a few more minutes she finally gave out a sigh, her whole body going limp as she relaxed. She gave a little smile as she flopped back on the bed, finally feeling relief after that ordeal.
"Th-thank you." She said to Kairn as she took the leftover meat from him, eating it as if she were still starving. She smiled to him after a moment, taking a breath after swallowing her food. "Better... a lot better now." She said, not even noticing that she was no longer stuttering.

Kairn had an interesting time trying to avoid that tail of hers as it thrased about, but finally she got it all down and once she finished eating he sits on the edge of the bed. "Yeah, ive had to drink that stuff a few times before without the sweetening agent. Its never fun, but you seem to have come through it good. Last time i had to take it, i had to drink a gallon of mead just to get the flavor to go away, that was an interesting night to say the least"
He checks her over, making sure he didnt find any traces of dark magic from the old man "It wont clear your gorgons curse though, so dont hold out hope for that. Its a natural part of you and that fluid only removes foreign magics from the body. Rest for a bit, i need to go outside and augment the barrier a bit more" He grins "I told the old man i was going to use my blood, but instead im going to use a potion made from his own energy, should provide quite a nasty surprise for him next time he returns" He pats her head gently then heads outside to get to work.

Yawn smiled to him as she wipes her face of the tears beneath her mask. She gives a sour look when he explains on how he had to drink it before, the taste still somewhat lingering on her tongue. She gives a sigh and nods again as he explains that it won't cure her eyes, not that she expected it would. She listens to him explain that he is going to augment the barrier. She catches him on his way out the door, looking a little sheepish.
"Uhm...' She started, holding onto his sleeve with her hand like a child. "Could you... could you remove the lock?" She finally asked, tired of wearing the mask. She knew she would have to keep the mask to wear regularly around other people but she was tired of wearing it. She recanted earlier when Kairn told her she could take it off when he went for food, wanting to but unable.

Kairn looks to her when she stopped him and asks to remove the lock. "I forgot to unlock it before, didnt i?" He nods then reaches around touching his finger to the lock "Leor Dout Stoth" A small blue glow flowed from his finger causing the lock to make a clinking sound before it unlocked "There you go, i didnt outright destroy the lock so you can use it again to help hold everything in place later" He takes a step back and closes his eyes with one hand on the door "I have my eyes closed so you can get a good look at me as well before i go outside"

Yawn smiled as she heard the lock click open. Reaching back to remove it with one hand. The blind fold fell slightly slack, being made of leather and having worn it for so long that the leather had dried to the contours of her face. It made a oddly satisfying creak as she pulled the leather back, removing her blindfold to reveal her bright eyes. They were red in appearance with black markings along the outside of the iris and trailing in like veins. The yolks of her eyes were more a light pinkish grey than a white and it caused the bright red of her eyes to appear as if they glow. Her pupils were long vertical snake like slits that would dilate to a more round shape in dim light, allowing her low light vision if she required it. It was natural as Naga are often known to live in damp caves where the sun did not shine. She looked over him, smiling as she looked him up and down in the doorway, getting a good mental image of his features before closing her eyes and gently leaning into him. She pressed on his chest with two palms softly, urging him to move as if to say he was good to go.
"Thank you..." She said with a smile as she lowered her head, turning away from him as he walked out the door to do his work. She opened her eyes again once she heard the door close, giving her a moment to adjust to the room before exploring the house. She gave a giggle as she came across what could only clearly be a bed. Snooping into the sack of potatoes on the floor next to the counter where Kairn had cooked the meat. She stuck her nose in nearly every nook and cranny of the house, now able to see it she didn't want to waste her time idly gawking when she could out right go on an adventure in the house. She kept the blindfold and lock in two of her hands, keeping herself ready for when Kairn would come back in.

Kairn nodded when she let him know by leaning on him. He pats her head then heads outside to get to work. He stopped just outside the door and listened to her going on her mini adventure and laughed quietly to himself. He shakes his head then gets to work on boosting the barrier, using the grey potion to augment the barrier, giving it a specific attunement to Hermit. The old man would find this time the barrier would have a much more drastic affect.
He continued out of the barrier, just a ways to the trees surrounding the house and began carving runes in them, much like he did in Ansem, but these were far more intricate. The runes he used in Ansem were simple, just giving the trees enough life to move and be a diversion. This set though were the full runes, which would not only give the tree life but augment it as well, making it much harder to destroy and far more of a threat. Even if the tree destroyed the runes would still give power and reanimate the trees so long as the rune was intact, as such he made sure to hide the runes so they would be hard to see.
Once he was finished with his preparations he would head back to the house. He could still hear here exploring inside so he sits next to the door and looks out over the forest. He gives a knock on the wall though and speaks loud enough for her to hear him "I'm all done out here. I'll sit out here though, explore all you want, then let me know when your done Yawn"

Yawn was busy rummaging through the cupboards as Kairn called, having to stop and listen to him before continuing. She didn't continue however, already content with what she saw as she slithered to the door quickly. She moved gracefully now, unlike she acted when they first met. She felt comfortable and at home. She placed the mask back on quickly, fastening the lock on the back of her mask with a satisfying click before opening the door. "Thank you, I am good for now." She said with a smile towards where she thought he might be. She would wait in the door for him to announce his intent to enter the house before she would move, waiting for him to enter before following him as best she could.

Kairn nodded before looking out over the forest for a moment, giving her some time to put her mask back on. He stared out through the trees and for a moment, felt that inner energy try to claw its way out again. He suppressed it again and wondered if Galneons miasma had weakened the seal his mentor had placed on him. He shrugs it off for now, stands up and knocks on the door twice before walking inside.
He looks to Yawn standing there and pats her head "Barrier is all beefed up, left a few traps in the forest beyond as well. Even if only the zombies appear..." He grins a bit "...things will go in our favor. Lets rest up tonight and tomorrow we'll go warn the townsfolk that the Lich is moving about. Ive saved some of the potion for them as well so they can boost their own barrier"

Yawn smiled to him as he explained that his barrier was fortified. Nodding in passing as he approached her. As he walked by her tail rose gently, brushing up against him before she turned around and began to follow him. She was well acquainted with the house now and was able to follow Kairn via movement and sound. She seemed a little worried as he told her they would visit the town in the morning, smiling nervously as she nodded to inform him she understood.
"Uhm... Kairn." She said, slinking up to him once he finished talking. "I was wondering if... if maybe you could make me a key?" She asked sheepishly, lowering her head as if she were averting her eyes though she obviously couldn't see. She rubbed her shoulder with her hand, waiting for an answer before she continued on.

Kairn looked to her for a moment then nodded "Dont worry, i have a feeling the townspeople will be nice to you. If theyre not i'll smack them up side the head until they learn a lesson in tolerance" He crosses his arms after shes asks about a key "You dont need one, the lock has been damaged and will unlock with a good tug. Though i think i have an idea if they have a smithery in town."
He pats her head and smiles "I know how to make a type of glass that will let you see by blocking the harmful effects of your curse. Everything will have a kind of gold tint to it though, so if you need to accurately identify a color i would suggest not looking through it. I have everything i need for the glass except the glass itself."

Yawn's eyes lit up when he told her about this glass... not that anyone could see them but it was obvious that the sound of this magic glass made her excited. "Really?" He said, moving a little closer to him. She smiled to him, giving him an exuberant nod after a moment. "Yes... I would love that!" She said, the thought of being able to see freely was more than she could bare. She was acting like a giddy child after being told they could have candy. She slithered around the room with vigor, nearly taking off out the door as she grabbed at the handle. She stopped suddenly, freezing solid where she stood. "Oh... right... tomorrow." She said, slowly releasing the handle on the door. This didn't seem to deter her mood however as she slithered back to the bed, giggling at the thought of permanent sight. She lifted herself onto the bed, curling around into a circle as her whole tail did its best to fit. Most of her tail still draped heavily off the bed, the total weight of her body betrayed her lithe form as the bed creaked once she slumped down softly onto her tail. She smiled once more in the direction she assumed Kairn was in before speaking again. "Izalith..." She said after a while, a cute yawn escaping from her mouth. Her tongue slithered out as she yawned like a snake licking the air quickly. "My real name is Izalith..." She finished as she rested her head onto her folded arms.

Kairn smirked a bit watching her slither about excitedly. When she stopped at the door he nodded to her "Yes, when morning breaks. I have only encountered one undead in the forest itself but the lich around, the rest may wake up. Id rather not take the chance at night of running into a small army of them. Not to mention, we've had a long day already"
He watches her climb onto the bed before he moves to the wall opposite of the door. He removes the large buster sword from his back and drives it into the floor next to him. He sits down, facing the doorway and leans against the blade. Even in the barrier he slept facing the doorway just in case. His sword also position where the cavities on the back of the blade faced the doorway, a nasty surprise of flame if an intruder happened to kick the door in on them.
He looks up as she tells him her name "So yawn was just a nickname i suppose? Izalith is nice as well, i think for now i'll just stick to yawn unless you want me to call you otherwise" He yawns a bit then gives a small stretch before adjusting his position to one a bit more comfortable. He was used to sleeping on the floor like this as he had been conditioned to for so long. Even after gaining his freedom he continued this tactic as it had saved his life many times "Sleep well Yawn, goodnight"

Yawn slept peacefully through most of the night, only waking a few times. She only stayed awake for moments before falling back asleep and most of the night went well. There didn't seem to be any problems when they woke, feeling a warmth touch her as she yawned, stretching all four of her arms out as her body slowly raised off herself. She licked her lips, taking a moment to remember where she was before she slowly moved her body around, her tail falling off the bed with a thud. There didn't seem to be anything that had attacked them that night however the house was silent and it didn't take Yawn to notice the strange sounds coming from outside. They sounded distant, the eventual sounds of crackling as something seemed to hit the barrier around them.

Kairn had been awake for a few minutes before Yawns tail thudded onto the floor, his link to the barrier alerting him to contact with it. He had been quietly listening to the sounds the whole time. When yawn awoke he looked over to her "Good morning Yawn, it seems we have something brushing against the barrier. It shouldnt hurt normal animals, just keep them out, and considering we dont hear any cursing i doubt its the Lich"
He stood up, removing the sword from the floor but did not sheath it, hoisting it over his shoulder as simply as if it were a simple short sword. "I'll go take a look and see what it is, with some luck its a wild pig and we can have breakfast" He walks over and pats her head "If its anything dangerous i'll give you a yell letting you know before i take care of it, ok?" He lowered his hand from her head before taking a breath readying himself before heading out the door.

It was nearly obvious from the sounds of the clinking and shuffling of feet outside the barrier. It was most likely Kairn had already known what was happening as he opened the door and left the cabin to see them. The undead were wandering around, at least a dozen or two just outside the barrier. A strange mist flowed across the ground, nearly hidden completely by the grass and leaves on the forest floor that intertwined. Most of the undead were already full skeletons, green eyes like wisps floating in the skeletons eye sockets, a similar green mist flowing in and out of the skeletons bones as if it were their soul given form. The undead shuffled along the forest, several of them trying to get into the barrier with no success. Something seemed off about them however, perhaps it was the way the barrier was reacting to them that tipped Kairn off but it was obvious that whatever was making the dead rise was made of the same aura as the old man. Cats out of the bag so to speak...

Yawn stretched her arms as she raised up more, giving Kairn a nod as she listened to him. She could clearly hear the sounds of something shuffling outside, and clinking. It was an odd sound that she didn't quite recognize but it made her feel uncomfortable. Yawn slithered across the room, sniffing around for anything that might be edible as Kairn left. She turned her head towards the sound of the door opening, giving another nod as he headed out and waited to hear him in case he shouted.

Kairn didnt even have time to close the door before he sighed "I was really hoping for a pig" He turned his head back towards inside the house "Its zombies and skeletons. You can take your mask off if you want, i will be too busy to get a look anyway Yawn" He shuts the door and walks down the steps. Inside yawn could find apples and a few other edible fruits, but no meats. They had eaten all what he made the night before.
Kairn stands near the barrier staring face to skull of one of the skeletons with a sour look on his face. "I hate fighting undead..." He reaches out touching the barrier and a sudden shift occurs, causing the energies to shift from fully defensive to a mix of both offense and defense. It would keep them out but now it also violently attacked any undead that touched it. Making the switch caused a higher drain on his magic so he couldnt maintain the mix for long, but it would help thin the heard a bit.
He pushed his hand through the barrier, grabbed the skeletons skull then pulled it into the barrier fully. This caused what seemed like an electrical attack on the skeleton, destroying the bone completely. It would be the same for the skeletons and zombies that touched the barrier. With a way through now open he lifted his sword into position and ran through the barrier to begin his attack.
The weight of his sword along was enough to break through their bones, though he mainly aimed horizontal attacks straight for their eyes, cleaving the top of the skulls off. Eyes were gateway to the soul after all and most skeletons usually would fall with an attack to the eyes. He had encountered others that did not follow this pattern but most of the time, the eyes were a sure bet. He hadnt noticed the fog on the ground earlier but saw it now. He paid little mind for the moment as his clothes had also been awash by the purification potion he used the night before.

Yawn nodded to Kairn as he left, removing her mask with a satisfied 'click' from the lock as she lightly tugged on it. She scoffed in amazement as the lock actually came free, feeling stupid for not trying that before as she removed her mask and blinked her eyes to adjust her sight. She moved to one of the boarded windows, watching Kairn as he approached the hoard of undead beyond the barrier around them. Her eyes widened as she saw the undead, feeling a hint of dread. She could definitely smell them from here, the sight of the green wisps was unmistakable. It of course was exactly what she envisioned when she was in the presence of the old man and all at once her suspicions were confirmed. She clutched two of her hands to her chest, hand in hand while another wrapped around her waist and the last was up against one of the loose boards on the window. She decided to herself that next time she met the old man she would let him see her eyes.

The old man happened to be walking through the forest when he heard the sounds of his undead being dispatched by Kairn. He nodded to himself with a chortle, lighting his pipe as he took a couple long puffs, walking towards the house where they were. It didn't take him long to walk into sight of Kairn, watching him dispatch a few more undead as he took another draw from his pipe.
"I see you are busy today Kairn." He said as he walked by, being wary not to walk too close to Kairn. He knew by now that his cover had been blown, more appropriately he had not been trying very hard to cover it. He gave a friendly smile to Kairn, his hand lighting in the same green flames that wrapped around the undead and waved his hand over Kairn and the house before him. All at once the undead lost interest in the house, turning docile and walking away as if there was nothing there to find. "I must apologize for my underlings, I merely command them. I don't control them like puppets... not unless I have need to." He said, making light that his undead were left to wander freely across the forest. The old man didn't stay for long, appearing as if he was only walking through the area. He looked over the house one last time as he walked along Kairn's sight. "I see you have reinforced the barrier. Good job." He said with a warm chuckle. "I can't imagine I can walk through that anytime soon." He said as he began to walk away.

Kairn nodded as he fought the undead "Indeed, we awoke surrounded as they scratched away at the barrier" He acted as if the old man were not his enemy for the moment, keeping a calm air about him even as he fought. When the minions stopped fighting, so did kairn, placing the tip of his sword in the ground and leaning on it. "I had hoped it was a simple wild pig. Hadnt had a good bit of bacon for a while" He looked towards the fallen zombies "I doubt i can eat them after all, zombie flesh, even purified, can still make one sick to their stomach after all."
Kairn looked to Hermit again as he talked about commanding not controlling "What are their orders? Keep people out of the forest, add to the ranks, or something darker?" He stood upright again but never let his hand leave his sword. He looked to the house as the barrier shifted to full defense again so as to not be as large a burden on him. "Thank you, i gave it a good boost after your visit last night." He looks back to Hermit as he prepares to leave "Before you go, now that its all out in the open, what is your goal with Ansem and in general? Dark as you are, if you wish to simply live in peace in your forest, i can respect that wish"

The old man stopped and turned back casually, as if it were always his plan. "If you must know I have had a sort of feud with the town of Ansem for quite a long time. The reason for their barrier is because of me actually." He said, giving a warm grin as if it were a normal thing. "Between the founders causing me problems and a certain Paladin Hero that was raising a family in Ansem I was quite busy fending off harassment and the like. People would come searching for my tower, walking into my forest and invading. It started as a defense precaution." He spoke as he paced, waving his pipe around to dramatize his words. "I had my hoard rise if someone were to trespass in my end of the forest. I admit it may have gotten a little out of hand." He turned and his expression became serious. "But then this paladin shows up. Decides that I am evil and wants to destroy me." He chuckles at this before continuing. "I admit that my over all persona may be perceived as evil... Really what is evil? There are so many simpletons that believe the world is black and white. At first I just wanted to live in peace."
He waited, taking a puff of his pipe before he continued, blowing the smoke into the air. "It was them first, they would come on my land assuming that I didn't exist. When my undead would rise it was suddenly evil. A monster... I was a monster... Which admittedly I am however I believe it is your actions that define you not what you are. The paladin declared war on me and I followed suit. When he suddenly vanished the townspeople took it upon themselves to blame me and the fighting continued. I do hold the upper hand since the paladin is gone however they easily defend their home with the barriers. I've always know Ansem was there. They cloaked it and disappeared from the outside world and for a time I was fine with that... but they owe a debt that I intend to collect and now that my undead can see the town again... Lets just say I don't intend to attack outright but I won't hold it against my hoard if they decide to attack on their own... After all that is why they rise." He took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh air of the forest.
"Before I go, now that the cat is out of the bag I believe I owe you a name... My name is Farron Alder." He said, giving Kairn a nod. "Feel free to kill anything that attacks you, however understand that I do not see you as my enemy. I will not attack you, you have no fear of my wrath." He said and turned to take his leave. "Understand if you attack me, you will be attacking first. I have no problem with defending myself. But let it not come to that." His head looks in the direction of Ansem as he walks away, humming the same tune that he had before as he fiddles with his pipe.

Yawn witnessed the whole encounter from the window, now able to get a good look at this old man. She could clearly see his aura, everything about him contradicted itself. The way he talked; his expressions, the way he dressed and carried himself it all told of a kind old man but she could see the nuances of his true nature. She wished she could go outside and confront him with Kairn but something kept her frozen to the window, she was afraid of him and even the sight of him froze her in place. As she watched the man walk away she felt a relief flood over her, her body relaxed as she watched him leave the area and go about his way again. She didn't know about Kairn but she wanted to leave this forest and never return.

Kairn watches him leave and thinks for a minute before finally replacing the sword onto his back. It could be simply that Farron was lying, but he had to give him some credit, after all the king in his land had convinced the people that his clan were evil as well. He heads back into the house and looks to Izalith, seemingly ignoring the fact a look in her eyes could curse him, though nothing happened.
"Yawn, we need to go to Ansem, i have heard his story and now i need the towns elders side of it. Depending on his version of it, it will determine if the old man is telling the truth or not. If he is we may be able to solve this without much fighting on either side. Though i am also prepared if it was just a lie as well" Kairns eyes seemed cold at this point as he understood Farrons position if what he said was true. He walked over and began getting ready for the trip back to town "Theres a small camp along the way where we can stop and get some breakfast, merchants i helped the other day, if theyre still there. If not it wont take long to hunt something small to feed us until we get to town"

Yawn heard the door open, looking to him and giving him a nod as he spoke to her. It didn't take her too long before she realized something was odd as she looked at him. Her eyes growing wide as she suddenly began to freak out, averting her gaze as she scrambled to blindfold herself. "S-Sorry..." She said, fastening the blindfold to her face quickly with a satisfying click from the lock. Yawn seemed nervous, hoping she didn't hurt him as she didn't know the extent of her powers herself. "Are you alright?" She asked, moving towards where he was as she reached out with one hand to catch him as she came close.

Kairn looks to her for a moment tilting his head a bit until it finally clicks in his mind "Oh, right the blindfold. Sorry yawn my mind was preoccupied, dont worry im fine. I guess i didnt look into your eyes long enough, either that or my resistance to curses is stronger than i thought" He takes her hand and pats her on the head "Dont worry, im perfectly fine, but we should get going soon. We have much to do after all" He had everything gathered and stepped towards the door, still holding her hand but waiting for her to follow.

Yawn rubbed at her arm bashfully, as if she may have been in trouble however she seemed to relax as he told her he was fine. She nearly jumped in surprise as he suddenly took her by the hand, blushing slightly as he pat her on the head. He continued, Yawn nodding in agreement as he suggested they leave soon, following him as he led her by hand towards the door. She was egar to get out of there, the idea of this Farron character springing to her mind once more before they left. She smiled lightly as the thought of her sight returned came to mind. Giving Kairn an approving nod as they moved to leave the house.
"Can I choose how it looks?" She asked him suddenly, her mind on this special glass he described earlier to her. In her mind she invisioned a beautiful crystal looking tiara that would wrap around her eyes like an ancient priestess from a long forgotten land.

Kairn nods as they start outside of the barrier to the camp where the merchants had been before "Sure, it will be yours after all, it would be best to have it be something you like and is comfortable to you. When we get to town i'll have you give a rough sketch of how you would like it. Then i'll tinker with the drawing until i get it just the way you want." It would only take about an hour before they caught the scent of smoke from the merchant camp.
When they got there however it was a bloodbath, bodies lay strewn about and the three carts had been shredded. Kairn sighed and shook his head "I was afraid of this..." There were a few undead stragglers lumbering about. He didnt let go of her though and held out his free hand "Ithquant Ibafarshan" White flames struck out from his hand, striking the undead, turning their bones to ash and freeing their souls of undeath.
He looked around for any others before giving her hand a light squeeze. "Go ahead and remove your blindfold, but beware theres quite a few bodies around us. Looks they were caught off guard and were all killed. Same number of bodies as people that were here when i met up with them. I wont look into your eyes so my resistance should make it safe for you. I need to bury them and check their stuff for anything usefull"
He wasnt above being a scavenger after all and the merchants were warned about the forest, so in his mind their loot was free for the taking, though right now he was thinking more on getting them breakfast, some cloth and some paper for her to draw on.

Yawn smiled as she listened to Kairn explain things, continuing to think about the ideas she had in her head. "What colo-" she began to ask him before he cut her off. The smell of blood filled her nostrils after he had stopped them, an obvious sign that something had gone wrong. Yawn removed her blindfold as he had instructed, looking upon the bodies of the dead as well as the undead that still littered the area.
"Is this the town Ansem?" She asked with a confused tone, realizing quickly how the camp looked a little too small to be a town. It actually reminded her of the poacher camps she used to view through cages as a child. She looked around, waiting for Kairn to finish what he was doing.
