Sedah stepped forward instinctively in front of Navaeh as he drew his sword. He watched on at the Manticore as it moved to strike with it's tail, hearing Kerrigan snap at Navaeh from around him as he braced for an attack. He wasn't expecting barbs to fly from it's tail, watching like a deer in headlights as the barbs shot in all directions.
The sounds around him became funneled and hard to hear as he hit the ground hard, feeling one of the maticores barbs dig deep into his shoulder. It was as if an explosion went off beside him and he lay on the ground in shock for several moments as the shadow bear and Victor took turns to stave off the beast. Suddenly the pain set in and everything came back, making sure to grip the sword as he struggled to his feet, shouting from the pain as he tried his damned best to get into a safe spot behind a large tree just off the path.
He slid down to his seat, not watching the rest of the fight as he reached up to grab the barb in his shoulder. He prayed, hoping to any god that this was not poisoned as he groaned, struggling and failing to pull the barb from his shoulder.

Victor's strength was made apparent when the tail came crashing down on his left side, pivoting to face it he brought his sword to meet it, no... to cut through it. The steel didn't make a sound through the hide as it cut through flesh and cartilage, leaving half the tail to fall to the ground with a heavy thud and the other to half to wave chaotically as a blood stump. Blood and ichor flew around them all from its thrashing and the consuming shadow creatures that tore it apart.
The quills had spread in such chaotic arcs he couldn't hope to save anyone who didn't get struck by the heavy quills, like bolts from a heavy crossbow with the smaller ones, bolts from a ballista with the largest.
He put his shield in-between himself and one of the quills which failed to pierce the fashioned steel, but dent it with the width of a gold piece. The force of the quill's impact should have shoved him a few feet back, but his posture held. By the time he went back to attempt any further offense the creature was dead.
Concerned for his companions, he turned from the creature and though mystified by the witch's magic, it looked like everyone could use some help. He presumed the best thing Kerrigan could do, she was doing. Meanwhile Sedah's figure behind the tree drew his instant attention.
Sinead's scroll was going to have to be trusted.

Felt Kerrigan grab her and toss her to the ground out of the way. She landed with an umph. That head lifted slightly and eyes widened as they caught sight of her brother. Quills began to head her way and Navaeh began to shudder. It happened so fast she did not even know how it happened.
Eyes clenched tightly shut and her body began to feel cool. A blue flame started to surround her frame. It did not burn anything, yet when the quills hit it, they fell suddenly to the ground. The flame about her acting as a sort of shield. Navaeh stayed that way, expecting the quills to impale and kill her.

Kerrigan followed Victor's gaze as it fell on Sedah. A growl emanated in her throat so fierce, it rubbed the scorched interior like a rough finger to scalded skin.
She moved towards him and dropped down, her eyes burning in anger. "You have a sword and you do not fight," she rasped, the words forced past her ached throat, whispered with intense hatred. "Your uncertainty is useless; your hesitation is recreant."
"Victor." The ferocity of her gaze leveled to him and bore down savagely. "He is more use to us as dinner. Kill him."
A blue flame caught her gaze, pulling her attention to Navaeh. A curious tone straightened her sharp expression, but only for a moment. The woman was no longer in danger.
"And kill her, too. Incompetent baggage."

Victor wasn't sure how to respond to that. He'd never been told to kill someone so flippantly, or at all. He turned a long stare to Kerrigan and considered the power she had put on display. Her ravaged voice, her general disposition even more intense than usual. It made him think of Reign, or at least the stories he had heard.
" Kerrigan, you pick an odd time to decide to kill our companions," he said evenly, unmoved by her wild expression, her sudden savagery. Instead, he looked almost passive at the display. He hadn't sheathed his sword as he currently was heavily incentivized to hold on to it.
" I'll take care of the wound, and we'll be on our way. Just so. Unless you'd like to push the issue, which I imagine you may... if so, feel free to go on ahead to whatever we're holding you up from. You won't proceed anywhere with me." He said with finality, before canting his head to the side as if aware that he had humored the witch long enough. She'd either summon another bear, which looked to take considerable strength and further- time. Plenty of time to cut her down.
"In fact, perhaps it is best we part company as it is. If the cost for your 'help' is such bloodshed, despite its potency, I don't need it."

Sedah groaned in pain, trying his best not to pass out as he was being bombarded by Kerrigan as he leaned against the tree. He couldn't help but think if he had the strength he would use it now, his nose furrowing as the muscles in his face twitched in anger and pain. He was too weak to talk, too weak to move. His whole body was screaming at him, he wanted to be sick and pass out but his brain told him not to. He was afraid if he passed out he would die. He turned his gaze to Navaeh, his expression pained as he saw the flames around her. He thought the manticore had breathed flames at her, his faltering sight not helping to see the image clearly.

Heard voices, she still lived? Her head lifted and she looked around her, seeing the force field of blue flames. "what the?" The flames flickering and dying out. Eyes fell on Victor and Kerrigan, where was Sedah? Those eyes continued to search and she had found him, leaning against a tree, hurt. Quickly she crawled to her brother's side, "Sedah?" she asked, her eyes welling with tears. "Sedah..." she grabbed hold of the quill that impaled his shoulder. Blood beginning to squirt from the wound. Drops of tears began to stream down her cheeks, reflecting whatever light was left of the day.
She brought both of her hands up, trying to stop the bleeding. A thought came to mind and she tried to focus. She knew how to summon the flames when she wanted to play with them. Navaeh began soft whispers, a blue light emitted between her fingers as the flames cauterized his wound, stopping the bleeding. "Sedah, don't die on me..."

Victor strode over to Sedah, and put his hand on Navaeh's shoulder. Best he not offer platitudes, when he wasn't entirely sure the Scroll had read correctly. Sinead's gift had been one he consulted nightly since receiving it. The Light within had promise, it held hope within it- and while his sister channeled it naturally- he required to still the beating of his heart. To silence the roar of his own strength and the always rushing wind that seemed to yell within his mind in times of quiet.
His right hand outstretched with palm shown, as thumb curled outward and index finger curled at bent at the middle knuckle, while his other fingers remained straight. A faint bead of pulsing yellow light manifested between his thumb and the tip of his curled finger- the light growing in intensity as it seemed to almost be a solid substance.
Wisps of the light eroded from the bead like gossamer threads each one catching some unknown wind that seemed to come from his outstretched palm- directing this healing light directly at Sedah. It coalesced around Sedah's shoulder, each thread seeming to wrap around the wound and dissolve into his flesh. Sinew, muscle- ripped and severed from the puncturing bolt regrew, flesh and fat seemed to reconstitute and blood cells under the invisible minutia multiplied.
Victor's brow was wet with sweat by the time the last of the wound was cleaned and made whole underneath the more permanent scar from Navaeh's smart use of fire to carterize. The bead of light was not done however, as he turned towards the cruel Kerrigan and let the wind that carried this magic flying against her in all her calculated hatred. The thin insubstantial strings of light wrapped around her throat in visual, but seemed to soothe a ruined voice and bring renewed strength her chanting had depleted.
The Light faded and without fanfare or dramatics blinked out of sight. Unwilling to continue fighting over who lived and died, he trusted Kerrigan to leave them be- and he walked through the arch, without word or warning, seemingly disappearing once crossing the other side. As he went, so did the path and with a sudden crack- the stone of the archway was split asunder, fog quickly spilling forth to obscure the way if one did not follow immediately.

Her face grew pallid with choler at Victor’s words. Irritation stretched her features into a face vexed by disappointment and disbelief. “I thought you perhaps more wise. These children…” her hands waved over Sedah and Navaeh. “Will impede your journey. Let this scuffle be proof of that, and may you find certainty in my words when they fail to save YOU if the need arises.”
She watched Navaeh as the woman cauterized Sedah’s wound, and continued. “Push the issue, you say. The issue will be pushed regardless of my interference. But be it as it may, let them follow you. The consequences will be nigh.”
The angry bite to her words was puzzling. As her words said one thing, her expression began to soften in a way that seemed to conflict her sentiments. She saw Navaeh’s tears, heard Victor’s defensive words, the concern for Sedah’s wound. It was a familial feeling she had never experienced. No care or concern had ever been gifted to her. No tears that she could recall had ever been shed for her benefit. She couldn’t recall a time where she’d been aided without a price.
Until now.
Until Victor’s wisps of light shot for her, and she growled in response — thinking it an attack — but succumbing to the warm tingling as it soothed and eased away the wounded throat. Her fingers caught at her neck’s hollow, splayed with incredulity. She had never suspected Victor was capable of such tricks. As the light disappeared, she found herself caught in her earlier reflections, and murmured a gracious “Thank you” as he walked towards the arch.
There, she had a decision to make, and it would do no good to further belittle his choices, or insult the siblings. There was a bigger task to obtain, and her chance lay with the man who was leaving them.
“Come on girl, boy.” She said to Navaeh and Sedah. “He’ll leave you in the Wood, and I too, if you don’t get up and follow hastily. Go.”
She prompted herself forward, fading into the heavy fog as it rolled towards them and following Victor into the Arch.

Sedah's muscles calmed as he relaxed, feeling the soothing light flood over him. He took a deep breath gasping as he opened his eyes and looked to Navaeh and then to Victor. His mind was racing and events were moving fast before him, watching as streams of light coursed from Victors hand to Kerrigans throat. He sat up, minding Navaeh as he looked with furrowed brows as it appeared Victor was attacking Kerrigan, only to raise his brow when he saw she was unharmed.
"Wha... what just..." He started, pausing as he reached to touch the scar where the manticores needle had pierced. He looked back to Navaeh, looking her over as if to find wounds. He was about to ask her if she were alright but his words would not find life as Kerrigan spoke up to them, telling them of their impending departure. He blinked his eyes, looking over to grab his gladius and stand to his feet, looking to see Victor walking towards the arch before turning to reach for Navaeh's hand and pull her up with him. He looked to Kerrigan, moving to follow Victor with Navaeh into the arch before it had a chance to collapse.

Eyes looked to Victor as she felt his hand on her shoulder. Tears glistening from the flesh of her cheeks. Neveah desperately wanted her brother to live. The distraction caused the blue glowing to cease, her brow furrowing as she felt helpless. Just then she saw Victor's own magic. It seemed to be sewing up the wound on her brother's shoulder. A sigh of relief escaped from her lips, followed by a soft smile. It was their teamwork that saved Sedah's life and in that moment of realization, she gained a little bit of confidence and actually felt useful.
Victor stood and moved from them. Her eyes focused on her brother, "Your going to be alright." A smile touched upon her lips. She lifted her head to watch her brother grab the sword and rise to his feet at Kerrigan's words of moving onward. Sedah stretched out his hand towards Naveah's and she placed her hand in his, pushing up with her legs as she stood. Swiftly her feet took her through the arch, with her brother by her side

Victor looked behind himself at the sound of stone splitting, his eyes widening as he could see no Arch. In fact, he could see nothing familiar behind him at all. Turning to face forward, his eyes caught the bleak gray as the fog swirled in motion under the pale light of the moon. The intricate figures made by extended branches caught the oddest shadows from fading light. Victor lit his lantern and proceeded, sword drawn cautiously as he proceeded down the wood. What he found, was the scrapping of metal on metal, the clap of a man wearing gauntlets. No. Not a man. Something worse. **** Ahead of those who crossed the Archway after Victor was a narrow path that leads into deeper darkness. With each step was the faintest groan could be heard. Victor was nowhere in sight, but ahead of the narrow path, in the distance, was a light that was growing brighter and brighter, struggling to be seen past the trees. It was not too many steps before the cold grasp of a hand reached out and gripped someone's ankle.

Past the Archway had been nothing more than another gauntlet of gloom, a kind of dread that drains at the spirit and the soul. Even Kerrigan, dark as she was- couldn't help but to succumb in her spirited advance after Victor, and the present light that was closer and closer. The Wood had stripped away any clever pretense, the very ground sprouted undead arms to grasp at them, the trees attempted to snare with root and branch. The miasma had began to grow thick in that once disturbing fog, which was now insidious enough to choke at the throat and fill the lungs with a chill that threatened to seize all breathing. Air was heavy, as were limbs. What had been drudgery had turned dangerous, but soon such bravery was rewarded. The Wood could only slow the likes of Kerrigan, and the motivated siblings who desperately needed a way out. Just as air was the thickest, just as knees wobbled, they came in sight of a Chapel. The path which leads to the environs of the church was littered with twisted pieces of metal, and necrotic flesh. The metal looked tarnished as if thousands of years had been weighed upon it, and a trail of blood lead past this point and into the graveyard ahead.

Sedah broke free of the archway, making sure Navaeh was close behind as he reached for her hand, taking it into his. He drew the gladius back, looking down the narrow path as he took a cautious step forward into the thick fog, squinting his eyes before looking back at Navaeh again. He felt that they may have been left behind, giving Navaeh a worried look before turning back to take another step only to be greeted by the cold touch of something.
A hand? He looked down, seeing the rotting flesh covered hand emerge from the ground to grasp his ankle. Sedah let Navaeh go, nearly dropping his gladius as well as he jumped back along the path, feeling the grip of the hand. He shook his foot wildly, looking to Navaeh before remembering he was holding a sword.
"Right!" He shouted at himself, swinging down suddenly to lop off the hand that held him. He watched it wriggle on the ground in sick despair, feeling the atmosphere itself suffocating as his whole body grew weaker. He moved forward, grabbing hold of Navaeh's hand once again as he looked her dead in the eye. "I think we need to run." He said before turning heel and taking off down the path, swinging his sword wildly at the miasma as he nearly dragged Navaeh along.
"Argh!" He shouted suddenly, feeling the icy grip claw his ankle once more, releasing Navaeh from his grip as he dropped to the ground, another hand rising from the tree to grip his face. It felt as if the hands were pulling him apart and he struggled, yet another hand gripping his sword arm and holding hims still. He fought with all his might but in the back of his mind he thought this might be it. "Ru- argh RUN!" He shouted to Navaeh through the hand that gripped his face, fingers reaching into his mouth as he tried to open it for a shout...

Eyes watched as Sedah went down. The undead hands gripping at him, nearly tugging him apart. She had felt them against her ankles as well, though tried to ignore them. Victor's words of being brave echoing through her mind once more. He also spoke that her fire might be of help with the next part of... wait, this was the next part.
Fear turned to anger as Sedah told her to run. She was not going to just high tail it out of there and let the undead that lay beneath take her brother. No, it wasn't happening. She never displayed her fire to her brother in fear that he may make fun of her, or look to her differently. She could not be afraid of that now.
Bringing both of her hands up, those lips would move, allowing soft chants to escape them. She dug deep within, the confidence that she would need. Blue flames formed within her hands, and she would throw them down at the hands, careful not to hit her brother with any of them.
Once the hands let go of Sedah, she crouched at his side, "Are you alright Sedah?" Feeling another grab at her ankle, another fireball let out. Making the hand sink back down into the dirt below. She helped him to his feet and began to throw down blue fireballs at any hands that reached up to grab at them, till they made it out of the narrow path.
