"I'm afraid I've given up on squires." She remarked wryly with camaraderic spirit. "So I know all too well." They were too slow, or they didn't polish her armour properly, or they dropped her sword, or...well there was always something wrong with them. And if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself.
Ehren's genuine statement had a somewhat humbling effect as Laelia glanced to the side and was silent for a long moment. "Thank you." She finally responded to the knight's vote of confidence with a quiet tone of sincerity.
The awkward moment was broken when Laelia broke the silence again. She didn't have much of a sense of humour, but she always found irony amusing. And her next thought was rife with irony. "It's my doing that the castle is even an issue in the first place." She revealed.
"Most of Tyran's people likely don't know, or don't remember. But the castle that once sat on this very site years ago?" She raised a brow. "I'm the one who destroyed it."
: Ehren chuckled at the fact. She was almost at the same place as Laelia in giving up, but there was one potential boy that seemed invested... no matter how many times he messed up. It reminded her of the days when she trained under her brother... the man she took her own name from.
"Of course, My lady." She meant every word. Ehren was new to Tyran, but she believed in honour and loyalty. To be fair, Ehren sought Laelia out when she heard about the female general... but it was through serving Laelia that she came to respect the woman.
"Ah," eyes glanced about the room. "Well.... I suppose... you were preparing the land a little early for your arrival." A small laugh escaped parted lips. "Do you have any plans for Tyran? How is... Zephyr handling the change, if I may ask." Ehren came to respect the boy after being locked in a shed with him.

"I'd like to say I had that kind of foresight." The corner of her mouth lifted in a smirk. "But the reality is that I was angry with Mordred Vargo and I wanted to make his life difficult when he ascended the throne. I did it out of pure spite." She shook her head. "And now...our son is 18. Who could have known?" She mused idly.
"Zephyr..." Laelia's brow furrowed. "I don't think he has accepted yet what I've done. What it means for him. But he'll learn. He has time." She exhaled a controlled breath. It was oddly freeing to speak about it to someone. Like a confidante. She trusted Ehren because Ehren trusted her.
"Plans for Tyran? I want to create strong bonds with like-minded nations. I want a prosperous Tyran. But even the best laid plans often go awry. So I'll not plan too far in advance."
Ehren felt their cheeks grow warm at how open and honest Laelia was with her. It was hard to make friends in the military and because of their identity, Ehren usually kept to themselves. It was nice talking to someone who knew who she was. "I know it's not my place... but I am happy that you have passion. I've never had the chance to love or hate with.... such strength."
"I do not see him around much. He is a very skilled fighter- you've raised him well in his father's absence. My brother... from my homeland... He-" They thought about how to phrase it. "He had to be a mother and a father when raising his children. I always felt a little bad for him..."
A small nod was given in terms of the plans. "Either way, I am here to serve in what you need."

Cairogen had changed plans working with Laelias redesign. Having to get the works transitioned over to the new format was causing them to get confused. Cair didnt get discouraged, reshaping walls and condensing the new stone to meet demands. He worked quickly and as efficient as he could, trying to get the reworking done and get the castle finished soon. He didnt bother Laelia unless it was important but made sure to send his Architect to see her.
This time though he went to her tent himself, Standing outside quietly as the two talked, making sure not to eavesdrop. Once things calmed down he cleared his throat abit "Queen Laelia, i have a design for you to look over concerning the towers and the inclusion of a few things for security"

One of the Breteuilian workers noticed what happened to the builders who was scolded by Laelia. She was obviously a different ruler than Protea. Protea was kinder and better at having tact, if needed. Laelia seemed to be trying but seemed to come off very offish and it was probable going to affect morale, especially considering many of the people where doing practically volunteer work to make sure the castle wall was built. The man would go off and meet with the other 9 Breteuilian workers. They would think this was a perfect opportunity for them to stand out.
One spoke up, “We got to pull people together, people are complaining a lot more, some don't trust the new queen. Another spoke “well regardless of all that we have our jobs, the queen personality matters not, finishing the job and doing well is all that's important.” The one standing in the middle speaks up, “Correct, we have an opportunity to really stand out with the new queen, she obviously demands efficiently and a well built place.” The others nod in agreement.
One speaks, “We should focus on sharing updates given to the designs to the workers, so that they would be less problems.” When the building process transitions better the new queen will be happier. The happier queen would gain a more favorable view of them and that's one of their goals were. Each one of the workers begins meeting with various architects, questioning any updates they may have gotten it. They would approach many workers on some of the new changes, but advises of not hurrying as more adjustments being made. They also know Cairo was going to propose some changes to the new queen. There was few who knew what the changes would be or even if Laelia would agree to them.
Their main message would be to make sure they are focusing on making sure the base of the castle is optimal. They would improve their workload and make sure they was keeping their ear to the ground for changes, so that they can spread the info to all, thus reducing the chances of Laelia lashing out on another poor worker.

"Wonderful." Laelia greeted Cairogen as she and Ehren finished their conversation. She clapped her hand on the Butterfly Knight's shoulder and strode past to greet the newcomer.
"Thank you for taking my new requirements into account. Between your Architect and the one I've had come from New Arisalon, I have no doubt this palace will be well defensible."

If one thought Laelia had lashed out at the workers she had corrected when she informed them they were not assembling the appropriate stone, they would be in for a shock if Laelia ever truly lashed out at them. In her interaction with the builders, Laelia had been practically polite.
As it was, however, Laelia did not take hard work for granted. She had no time for incompetence, but treasured efficiency and and a job well done. When time allowed, she joined the workers in their labour, dressed in plain trousers and a dingy tunic. It was only fitting that she assist in rebuilding the castle. After all, she had destroyed the previous one. She had no time or inclination for decor. The palace could be barren on the inside for all that she cared for aesthetics. Instead, she offered her muscle and her sweat.
When it was time for a break, Laelia ensured they ate well. Hearty meals full of protein. An army marched on its stomach, she'd say, and any other hard labour was much the same. It was in this way that the new Queen showed her appreciation. She did not give pretty words or compliments. She showed her appreciation in taking care of those who did a good job, in working alongside those who worked hard for her.

The Breteuilian workers noticed Laelia's growing participation. She also did do something similar to Protea as she rewarded the workers with meals when the time required it. The passage of time would somewhat change people opinion of her. She did not just demand competence she lead by it. She showed how serious she was by the project by taking part in it. Unlike with Protea no one would dare tell her that the queen should not be laboring with them. Maybe it was because she seemed kinda like just one of the guys/gals or maybe it was hard to process her as a queen due to her demeanor. Whatever the reason was, it resulted in workers being more focused on completing the tasks with greater efficiency, maybe some light firmness was what the guys needed to take work a bit more serious. The Breteuils would have to work even harder if they hoped to stand out. They would do this by meeting with the Architects and passing on their message for the revisions to be made. It was important that this new castle would be among the best in the land. It would give all the builders presence increase prestige and help them to find more work.

Cairogen nods and looks to Laelia handing her a scroll "The base design for the Mana discharging weapon ive mentioned before. It uses three elemental crystals spinning about the drum to generate a high output beam. I figure four spires with one mounted in each. It can be moved to fire from any balconies placed and depending on the size you wish could be powerful defense weapons for the castle. It can be made large, to adapt fully to the room housing it, or kept in a form like in the drawing, to keep it mobile, but less powerful."
He looks over the design "The only drawback to this weapon is you need an enchanter to create new magic gems to power it. It will eat through a set of gems after about 6 normal shots or one surge shot. Surges shots are powerful and risk damaging the weapon itself, but good if an enemy is proving resistant to the normal shots"
