The Breteuil Family, Birth of Sanctury City

The Breteuil had spent most of their
lives on an island, hidden from the world, mostly rejected for their
perceived blatant discrimination against certain creatures regardless
of acts of the creatures. At times they had been praised for aiding
in stopping heinous creatures of dark. They were wandering
mercenaries. Their original power source a stone that they originally
kept on their hidden island that they had resided for a long time.
Thanks to the acts of Lycard in
supposedly trying to bring some type of stability through Tyran by
causing untold destruction, most of their home had been lost and they
where forced to unite their powers to transport themselves from their
island along with their prized stone and tribute temple to a land in
the eastern region of Tyran. The place had plenty of forest, which
would be good in establishing their new settlement. They had to fight
off a few unsavory creatures in the midst and would learn through an
act of kindness of a Breteuil on someone who was turning into a
vampire due to infection.
Instead of slaying the person he
managed to devour only the corrupted gene instead and freed the
person, this lead the Breteuils in questioning if their only purpose
was to just destroy evil, but instead create a sanctuary place were
people could live in peace without abominations. They long since
known most of Tyran had for the most part ostracize them, so it
became a perfect endeavor.
Thus began their new journey in
building their home. Many changes came like the rise in power of
Protea and coercing Ronnie to participate as their representative as
the family was too busy building up their home which will be known as
sanctuary city.
They are very prominent members to the
Breteuil family.

accessible places is the Temple, which most of the people lived, but
most of the people are currently working on building homes for
settlement in the land. Foreigners are treated hospitable, unless
they have Vampiric, Demonic, Werewolf, Zombie or other creature and
wielders of darkness features or essence, then hostility is shown. |

Most of the Breteuils was wandering around using whatever material they had in the vicinity to build up some of their basic houses, but they still had need of oak as well as some other things. They seemed to hope that in time Ronnie would be able to secure some of that good oak that was within the Capital jurisdiction.

It wouldn't take long for a servant from the Capital accompanied by a guard to arrive and hand over copies of the document agreement made with Ronnie to allow them access to the wood they desired. The purpose of the trip was also to route out a course to get to this place so that the wood could be transported. They didn't stay long, and would soon be returning back toward the Capital on their horses.

The Breteuils would recognized the insignia on the Servant who came by horseback and they would greet the person. The person seemed to be all business and wanted to speak to their resource leader. Crystal would quickly come out, “My my, good you are here already. She would receive the papers and would smile, “Thank you good sir and good luck to your building needs. They would all go back to their regular work assignments as they would soon be having a shipment of wood to begin some of their special projects.

The Breteuil would begin to split their workers, which included Breteuil warriors along with others that has joined the City for Sanctuary. Some was sent to caves to mine for ore, Some where sent over to the Oak Forest near the capital to harvest woods. They would utilize several caravans. They would be equipped with two Elite Guard Warriors (Alexander and Lee) for additional protection from potential bandits and enemies. They would receive specific orders in how they are harvesting as they did not want to violate the terms and draw the ire of the queen, especially at this stage in the game. Ronnie of course would be sent out as a representative to seek out trade partners that could help speed up their building projects. Obviously they would maintain enough warriors to keep the borders safe from most threats.

Crystal would receive the scroll from advisers. She smiles, :It seems that Ronnie has been busy, but surprised took him that long to get this, well better later than never I always say." She would take the scroll over to her subordinates that deal with negotiations and would begin filling in the paper work to outline the trade options for their xenothrin metals, including precious stones, dress wear, empower runes. Things they have accumulated plenty of to preferably get a good return in metal and other things outline in the scroll that was trade able assets.

Things was picking up in the construction of the family. Soon the construction manager talks to Crystal telling her that stone was needed for their building projects. Crystal smiles and says, "You just keep with your other projects, we have Ronnie on it. He will secure some stone trade, he is already on the case, he has already secured us material from the queen and Tempest, I am sure he will bring in more things later. The man speaks, "Good, we need to protect our homes with a reinforced gate.

Ronnie arrives in the capital. Ronnie sighs, “This place is too big, not sure if I will find him, well he seems pretty important. Ronnie would around time asking the people if they seen Cairo. He would even explain his features to increase his chances of locating him.
A guard would point ronnie in the direction of the magic store and upon arriving the clerk inside would tell him his office is on the rooftop of the factory right behind the store.
Ronnie nods and thanks the guard and follows directions to the MAGIC store, “hmm, this does seem like where someone like him would be. He would talk to the clerk, “ Oh, do you think he is available to talk?”
Chrystal holds a vial as someone new had come in the shop. She blinks her eyes, "You must be looking for Cairogen? Hes on the roof, this way" she leads Ronnie up to the roof and knocks on the door to Cairo's office
Ronnie blinks some as someone comes and recognizes why he is here and volunteers to take him to Cairogen. He decides to just follow quietly. He does speak up for a moment, "Thank you for your assistance."
Cairogen was currently reading through some notes about a new potion formula, thinking on it quietly. Nothing big, just something on his list to do.
Chrystal looks to Ronnie, "Your welcome" she knocked again, recieving no answer, "Cairogen? Theres someone here to see you"
Cairogen looks up "Oh...come in its unlocked"
Ronnie looks over Chrystal for a moment, before gazing back at the door. He hears the ok to enter and waits for Chrystal to open up.
Chrystal opens the door and steps aside to let Ronnie in
Cairogen puts his papers away and sits up at his desk. His roof was painted to resemble a forest. Potted trees were along the walls and the furniture was all carved by himself. Cair himself had a white trenchcoat on with a white shirt and black pants. "Oh, hello again Mr. Breteuil"
Ronnie walks in and looks around the place, "Hmm, interesting place you got here." Ronnie looks around to see where Cairogan was situated, wondering if he would remember him at all. only to realized that he did, which made him happy.
Chrystal closes the door behind Ronnie and goes back to making her potions
Ronnie would bow over respectfully towards Cairogen, "Nice to meet you again Sir Cairogen, it's an honor to make your acquaintance once more." Ronnie looks back noticing that Chrystal left off to do something. Ronnie returns his gaze back to Cairogen.
Cairogen nods to him "So what can i do for you? Is this about council business or busiuness needing done with the store here?"
Ronnie folds his arms, "Nope, I have nothing to do with Council business as I was never elected. I am not sure if the store exactly has what I need, but I am here seeking possible trading options. My main source is seeking stone, which is needed by my family."
Cairogen thinks for a minute "To be honest we have no regular quarries of our own, we partner with smaller quarries and send business there way. Wwe do have one quarry but its not refined, a cave i use for my own creations that used to be a mine. I can send you to one of our partner locations if you wish"
Ronnie folds his arms, " My family have skilled labor at their disposal, there are many who should be able to use it to usable stone, how much of payment would you require for the use of this quarry."
Cairogen looks to him for a moment as he contemplates and thinks quietly. He turns to a drawer and takes out a map, unrolling it on the table. On the map would show a mountain rangwe near the capital but a good ways north from the hollow. Drawn on the mountains was what looked liked a tunnel diagram. "Ive been mapping it out...i dont mind iof you use it...but everything south of this line is off limits, the ground there is too unstable. As for price...hmm perhaps 800 per ton?"
Ronnie strokes his chin as he says, “That sounds like more than a reasonable price. Ronnie would pull out a scroll, “I am agreeable to the terms, do you have anyone that you send out to set up possible trading routes and negotiations. The person best to close the deal would be Spike and Crystal, they are in charge of finances and resources, they will be able to pay and give you the correct amount. You can also draw up the contract forbidding them from gathering from that unstable location.
Cairogen snaps his fingers as a living shadow crawls out of his own behind him. The thing stands upright and gives a salute "I use these for most things, they can travel great distances and have a mental link to me so i can relay messages through them. It helps save on staffing costs. As for the contract, i'll get one written up and sent your way before the day is over"
Ronnie nods, " That is very convenient. Ronnie rolls out more of the scroll, "Well here are the directions to Sanctuary City, well not much of a city right now, but if you can send your shadow to give this to Crystal or Spike, then the deal will be done, and payment can be given right away."
Cairogen nods to ronnie then the shadow walks over, taking the scroll. Once Cairo writes a few things down, the shadow takes that as well and vanishes, melding into another shadow. Cair stands up "Good doing business with you, let me know if any problems arise or if they find anything unique in the caves"

Ronnie nods his head as he would give word to his people to let him know if they find anything out of the ordinary." Spike was the one to encounter the shadow and although he looked piqued by it's appearance he didn't seem alarmed. He would see the scroll and nod and would establish payment for 19 tons. he would pay the creature 8000 in equal coin value. He would also take the directions to the site and read all the terms.
It would be later after finishing business with the shadow that he would speak with Crystal who would have to select a team of people to begin the excavation journey. It seems Ronnie would need to recruit some more able body hands as all the resources they where recieving was thinning man/woman power.

Things was progressing well as a dozen or so workers were send to the land they were given access to procure some stone. The site leader was sure to ensure he maintained the proper documentation to land in case any of Cairo's shadows or subordinates was scouting the area. The last thing they wanted was trouble. Only one of the workers was a capable warrior. They had a permit to mine for a lot of stone and currently there were not many of them, this means they would be in for a long term, unless more workers would be sent for help. The Site Supervisor will yell, "We are here, remember do not go to the south, the land is unstable and the last thing we want is any unnecessary injuries or getting in trouble with our contractor. The works nod and get to work right a way. Each of the workers knew what their assignments work was and went to work straight away.

Ragnorak received the message from Sprocket, Ronnie little messenger dragon he got from the Dragon Fortress. he read the contents and he says, "hmm, suspicious, well it matters not about the fate of the queen it has nothing to do with what we are doing, but it does concern me. He would send a report to the forestry committee to send more workers over there. They needed to make sure they get their fill of oak just in case the unthinkable happens and they are on the short end of the deal. They would be instructed to still remain in the scope of the deal, just in case nothing was really going on. They couldn't afford any set backs. He would decree for the newer citizens to join in on the projects involving the logging.

The Breteuils was still hard at work at many projects. Some was fortifying and protecting their growing homeland. Some was harvesting logging. Some was gathering plantation. Some was gathering special stones. Many jobs were plentiful and for some that was a drawing point for many others. Although not all was welcomed to their home, but for those that was, they were given a home and job to help make the land greater for everyone.
One of the projects of interest was the ground working the area where Cairogan granted permission. They where gathering viable stones to be used in construction of their great wall. They have already transported a good amount, but there was still much to be collected and gathered. One of the workers gathered an unusual stone, one that had a green side and one that had a yellow side. The worker knew the contract stated if they had any unusual finds to inform Cairogan. The worker would hand it over to their site supervisor, who thought it was interesting, and it did have an unusual feel to it. He would have it transported home to be studied to see if it had any special properties, maybe it can be sold for profit. It did have some interesting symbols on it, so who knows.

Meanwhile the loggers would come to the end of their logging nature as they no longer had anymore acceptable locations to log without disturbing nature by too much. They already did their part to ensure that in time the trees would eventually go back, but that would take too long. The leader would sigh, "Too bad we don't have one of those people with nature magic, they could easily speed the process along. Another spoke, "Yeah, but who knows how stable the trees would be with the magic."
They would be force to come home to make their final report and send home the remainder of the gathered logs. Once home there was important decisions that needed to be made. The first decision was where were they going to get more logs, obviously they would still need more logs to build many things that they will constructed. Although they have gathered a lot of logs and many were still being processed, they did not want to have progressed hindered when they inevitable run out of logs. This meant Ronnie would have to be called to possible renegotiate a different section with healthy logs or to find another trade partner, where they could log.
They would also be studying the mysterious stone that came back from the area they where gathering it that had an abundance of the substance that they required. Many could not figure out the meaning and some was growing impatient and was bound to say nothing was special about it and they should just add it to the rest. Crystal would arrive and would take the stone and speaks
"hmm, this stone feels like it has an odd and ancient power to it, Summon Ronnie for this he has done some world travels, he may know what it is. Plus we can inform Cairogen of this find, don't want putting any unstabilizing forces that could result trouble for our wall in the future.

There was a meeting to take place. Ronnie would meet before Ragnorak to give his personal report of the capital and it's new happenings. Ronnie would explain that Laelia will probable make a great queen for Tyran during her reign and most importantly she didn't show signs of being a current threat to a Breteuil. The only concern is her heir, which he knew less about. After Ronnie would share about all he learned Ronnie would be presented by the stone with inscriptions. Ronnie reaches to grab it and says, "Wow this is one of them!"

Ragnorak would look at Ronnie at would inquire, "One of what?" Ronnie would go on to discuss an ancient history of Tyran where Stones of power embedded the powers of the element and the one contained in this element gives a certain power of wind and earth, but considering their powers they probable wouldn't be able to do much with it." Ragnorak sighs, "Fine, then see what value you can get it from that Cairo fellow or discover a way it can benefit us, this is your mission." Ronnie bows his head lightly, "As you wish, I am sure there is some applications and I will find the others before the wrong hands get on it." Ragnorak would nod and Ronnie would exit his village, noticing they were making remarkable progress on the construction on their abode. There was still much to do.

Ronnie had sent a word of message to his people with his word from Cairo. He instructed them to be on the look out for some suspicious dark stones, that can be problematic if gotten in the wrong hands. He instructed them to handle them with extra caution and that they should move away if they should come in contact with them.
The overall progress to the city in progress was going well. The walls was being built, many houses and buildings was completed. There was still much more to be to the one day grand Sanctuary City would need before it's done. One thing that they need was more protectors to keep the l;and protected. A bigger home meant a larger need for security, something that Ronnie was also task with finding out.

Ragnorak was drinking some red wine and says, "Progress of the city and walls are going well, but we need to refortify our home defenses if we want to protect ourselves from the monsters of the outside world, I won't tolerate harm coming down to my people." Sky retorts, "So, what should we do, what kind of weaponry should we get, right now all we have is our great crystal, but that only protects us against abominations, not abominable people and bandits, we may need to get more than swords, shield and bow, we may need to expand on our advance weaponry, perhaps we can use that stone somehow to power our projects."
Ragnorak nods his heads, "You may be right, how are our special guests are they still making themselves useful." Sky spoke, "Well according to the guards they have still been working on the projects, but they still need more types of metal, perhaps, we should send Ronnie out to secure it, We need the Xenothrin for out combative gear and I am not sure that metal would be good for that other purpose.
Ragnorak rises up, "Ronnie has been quite the busy one these days, I wonder if we can continue to depend on him." Sky says, "Ronnie should still be able to be use to us, he still believes in his honor and family is always important to him." Ragnorak smiles, "Yes, it is, well have word out to him, but also send some of our workers out to search out iron mines as well."

Building after building was being built. The people of their growing city was staying busy. Some promoting new businesses. The bigest business was architecture and construction. There was always new buildings to make. Ragnorak's home was updated with sophisticated traps.
Ragnorak was pleased with the upgrades and he summoned one of his scouts to see if there were any major updates going on outside of their grounds. The scout informs him that Ronnie was beginning to garner more attention and that he seems to be forming his own group and could be starting something mysterious. Ragnorak nods, "Ronnie won't do anything to crazy but keep an eyes on him. Also, we need him to keep at his job, we need other diverse metals and substances.

After all the celebrations it was time to get back to work. The City had to continue building more buildings. They needed to complete their temple. They would need to enlist the people best at paintings to paint scenes from the Breteuils greatest history. Greater emphases was put on building on their wall as they have recieved a large shipment of stones. Ronnie was sent out on the quest to resubmit an application to get more stones as they where close to reaching their quota.

Matthew checked a sheet of paper, "Yep this is the place. Matthew would enter the magic Shop. Matthew was 5'7 alight elf. He was dressed in sim a similar armor style as Ronnie except he only had one sword at his hip and he had the word Purge in Red diagonally plastered on his front portion of his light white armor. He would follow the directions he was given to knock at Cairo's office.
Cairogen - Today at 8:22 PM
looks up for a moment setting his paperwork aside "Its open" Even sitting he was almost 6 feet high with light blonde hair, and a pair of horns slanted back. He had blue scaled wings on his back and his hands and forearms were draconic, the rest of his features appeared human. He takes a drink of his tea and relaxes slightly
Ronnie/Matthew - Today at 8:28 PM
The elf walks in and looks at him , "Hmm, interesting would you happen to be the one known as Cairogen?" He stands to attention and stares curiously at him. He waited for his response before making his next action.
Cairogen - Today at 8:31 PM
nods to him "I am, and you are?" He pushes back from his desk a bit and stretches out the collar of his shirt a bit.
Ronnie/Matthew - Today at 8:38 PM
: He bows to him "My name is Matthew of the Purge and I have been sent here on behalf of Ronnie, his family wants to extend the current contract as they have reached the end of the current agreed contract.
Cairogen - Today at 8:40 PM
nods to him "Simply extending the contract date is of little issue to me, as long as the mine still produces usable stone there shouldnt be an issue"
Ronnie/Matthew - Today at 8:45 PM
The man would nod and would lean over to pull out a bag of gold. "This time they want to pay to mine for 2000 pieces this time."
Cairogen - Today at 8:47 PM
nods to him "That is fine. I'll have the new contract writ up and send it over in the morning"(edited)
Ronnie/Matthew - Today at 8:55 PM
The man would bow his head, "I shall word to Ronnie that the deal is done, thank you for your time." HE would set down the gold on his table and would turn around to head to the extit to complete his next assignment.
Cairogen - Today at 8:56 PM
watches him leave then puts the gold in a safe. He couldn't open void gates like normal, so he had to use the established gate in his sanctuary to access his stores.

While the building of Sanctuary city was progressing well as they had plenty of equipment for building of the city and the walls. Ragnorak felt they will need to refortify defenses with more automatic defenses to buffer their man power. He knew his family had always depended on their strength of their people before, but in the long past they also had plenty of natural protections to aid them, now this was not the case as it was fairly easy to approach their new home.
Ragnorak would send out a messenger to send Ronnie a message that his next quest would be to find some advance weapon or magical defense schematics. He was not interested in however he obtained it, just as long as he obtained it.

The Breteuil was now beginning to install there security system by installing certain sensory stones capable of sensing unfamiliar presences from entering the vicinity of the area. It can also serve as a purpose of activating the defense system that was still in development. They were still depending on Ronnie to acquire defense weaponry that can deal more Area of effect.

Deep in the midst of Sanctuary City. Sky would be wandering into the depths of a hidden compqrtment into the temple entering into a site below the city. He would walk into a room in which some white coat wearing creatures was walking around reading scrolls and completing random seeming experiments. Sky would speak up, "How is the Portals coming along, we didn't spare you for nothing." One of the guys spoken, "It is coming along we are on the verge of making a portal, but it would require an object as a point to transport to the location you desire as you want. It is a very interesting concept you can invade any place you want. Sky turns around, "Or have a perfect escape in case unexpected disaster comes here, keep working and let me know when the job is done. Sanctuary city still has a ways to go and plenty of ambitions to seek, and your portal magic can help with that. The head scientist nods, "Yes yes."

Sanctuary City was coming along nicely. They had plenty of recruits. They had plenty of materials to build various building constructs, like lighting posts throughout the city. They wanted to make sure the city has the ability to stay lit. What is a sanctuary city if light doesn't prevail always, even in the dead of night. Their only concern was with their representative Ronnie, whom seem to slowly to be doing his own thing.

The breteuils Sanctuary city had a few new people joining their family. They would volunteer their experitise. Some was carpenters, some doctors, some educators. Those who were permitted always had something to add. The city at its current stage of development was not providing living arrangements for anyone who couldn't provide a service to the city. It helped prevent poverty and from the city having to take care of the citizens. Everyone had provisions to care for themselves for the city. Some joined the guard to help defend. Some would join harvestors.

Sky visited some mysterious cloaked figures in the main buiding basement. Sky asks, "How comes the special weapon." One of the figures turns around, "Everything is coming as planned, even with few resources."

The City main building gets a giant bell installed at its highest point. It is used to signal trouble for all the citizens in case trouble ever comes. It was only natural to install it in the heart of the city.

The lamp's post was installed with fragments of the stone of light. They would not only illuminate the lights throughout the city, but provide it with an extra protection of light.

Tyrannights is a free-form play by post RPG with a medieval fantasy setting. It was formed in 1997 by Shawn and Doreen with many different owners and versions over the years. Its current version is Tyran: Tales of Legends owned by Sinead and Laelia.
Tales of Legends is world and character building focused with and original setting. There are no forced character aps or registration, so come stay in Wendy's Tavern for a drink. Have you character serve one of two Tyran gods. Rule a city of your own, or serve Tyran's Queen. There are limitless possibilities for your character's story... so what are you waiting for?
Tyran is PG 13 and LGBT friendly.
