Three hundred men and women, were hardly able to subsist off of hunting, gathering, and their supplies. It had made them proceed out of the shadow of the mountain (square 1), southeast to the fishing village of Tarek. ( located in square 11, in the Northwest side of the map.)
Tarek was large enough that with the mercenary band's supplies they could accommodate them, but getting the village to would be a challenge. The leader of the mercenary forces was faced with a dilemma. The pitiful militia of the village wouldn’t stand against them, but such an act would cast them in a light that would no doubt draw attention they didn’t need.
As such, he went ahead with a few scouts leaving Sasha in command at the camp. Calidus was not entirely pleased with what he found. The middling guard wasn’t the militia, but instead, bandits who had taken the town weeks prior. People were essentially being forced to work as servants, instead of working their trades and making sure to stores were filled for the colder seasons.
It was a town of two hundred and fifty, and it was currently run by a force of no more than one hundred. The town’s barns and stables held people instead of livestock, while the best homes had long since been taken over by the bandits. In fact, once the entire town was taken into account, these bandits had come by sea and by ground. One fast ship, just one remained in the slip- the rest of the fishing boats had been anchored out from the shore to prevent any escape.
The Dilemma was no dilemma at all. It was the perfect opportunity. Saving a town was much better for image than taking one over- and the outcome was the same.
