Vici had her whole life torn from her, she came into the world to serve and aid the person designated to aid the land. But this person, this queen, had their lives struck short from the most foul and wretched being, a traitor to all, a snake in armor. Atop all that this disgrace then took the crown for her own. Did no one see? Did no one care that a traitor had claimed the throne? Well Vici did, she cared that all this occurred.
First she went to live with Manic for a time, but her thoughts always turned back to the castle and the crown. It festered and boiled inside till she had to take matters into her own hands. The question was how, how would she get to the queen?
No longer content to sit still she went her own way to live in various towns under various guises as she searched for weaknesses, as she plotted the demise of one Laelia Kaliba.
One day it happened, she was consumed by this hatred to the point she could no longer wait, she had to strike. So after buying armor to blend in with the guard she made her way to the Castle to make it seem as though she were one of the changing guard.
Laelia however was no fool and had taught her guard quite well on how to spot discrepancies. It did not take but a minute before Vici was being drug before the queen struggling against two guard kicking and it would appear screaming, but no sound came from her raging lips as she was a complete mute.
"Commander Laelia, we apologize, but we found this rat trying to sneak into the guard."
Vici's eyes matched her feelings as they swirled dark red and black, with blue speckles as tears streamed down her face. It wasn't just hate, it was the feeling of grief and loss she still could not overcome as the one who stood before her took away her only family, her only true connection to the land.
She continued to pull against the guards almost hissing it seemed, though no sounds left her lips still.
"What shall we do with this runt?"

The Queen stood as Vici was brought before her. She remembered Protea's shadow, the woman-like creature who had clinged to her when she believed Laelia was Protea's savour, and the one who had scorned her when she proved to be Protea's undoing.
Before Laelia had been given the chance to offer Vici shelter and compensation, the creature had disappeared and the Queen quite promptly became occupied by other things such as building a palace and establishing a new monarchy.
And yet after all of this time, here Vici was, kicking and bucking against the hold of the guards, soundless screams mimed from her lips. Laelia could feel the cold sting of that hatred, recognized the soul-wrenching burden of grief in Vici's eyes.
"So you've finally returned." Laelia murmured. "I had wondered when you might reappear with blood on your mind."
With a long sigh, Laelia gestured to the guard. "Release her. If she wants to take a stab at me, she's welcome to make the attempt."
The guards were reluctant, grumbling their misgivings, but ultimately did what their Queen bade. Laelia maintained her gaze on Vici, and while confident she could manage whatever the creature had to throw at her, she would not take her eyes away from the woman or let her guard down. She was ready to act if Vici made any movement towards her.
"Have you come seeking revenge, little one?" Laelia inquried steadily, her voice absent of mockery or hostility. Perhaps there was a part of her that understood Vici's rage and could not, in truth, fault her for feeling that way. "Or are you here for another purpose?"

Vici's tears fell and she mimed hissing at the guards as they released her and straightened herself out fixing the outfit she had managed to assemble. She turned back to look the queen over her face contorting in thought and rage that seemed to echo through her form. When asked if she had come seeking blood, seeing revenge Vici nodded and mimed death to Laelia before changing her form to look like Protea as if she thought it would haunt Laelia not knowing the queen well.
The commander most likely did what she had to whether she enjoyed it or not. Which was something someone like Vici could not understand, having been born to serve and aid one being. Never questioning if she was slave to it, just doing it because she was connected to that being.
Protea's duplicate stared at Laelia and she stalked forward pulling from a sheath a small dagger before launching at Laelia only to fall short and weeping. That was when the cries could be heard in the building itself echoing in each stone that had been used, and vibrating through the foundation.
Vici looked up hatred and drew herself up to attack Laelia likely knowing she would fail and fall at this point, knowing the consequence, but what did life matter any more without her precious Protea. All she could think of though in that moment when the dagger came towards Laelia was to look in the woman's eyes and paused inches from the queen's skin baring her teeth her eyes staring down into Laelia as if to ask why she had done this and why did she give Vici this chance to attack her.
Vici had wanted with all her might to take down this wretched fiend, but found herself incapable of doing so in that moment.

"At least you're honest." Laelia muttered dryly as Vici nodded vigorously in response to her question. Not many people would openly admit in a room surrounded by guards that they had come seeking the Queen's blood.
The Queen stood passively as Vici changed forms, taking the visage of the late Queen Protea. Only a raised brow indicated she wondered what impact the creature thought this would have. Staring death in the face was not unfamiliar. In fact, as Vici in Protea's form launched at her with dagger in hand, it only reinforced to Laelia that she had done the right thing in dispatching Protea for good. Leaving enemies behind to attack you in the future was a poor self-preservation strategy.
While prepared to act, Laelia didn't need to . She lifted her hand to stay the swords of her guards, their blades having been drawn the moment the creature produced the dagger. Vici sank to her knees, unable to strike and wept silent tears. Instead, the stone of the palace walls seemed to echo the mute's grief.
Again Vici drew herself up, changing back into her own form as she launched at Laelia again. Laelia stood unmoving, watching as the small dagger came to rest inches away from her skin. Vici's hatred was mingled with confusion and question.
As if understanding the mute's unasked question, Laelia raised her hand and wrapped it around Vici's hand. She twisted the hand holding the dagger, causing enough discomfort for Vici to let it go, but not enough pain to cause lingering damage.
"You're not a killer." She answered Vici's unspoken question. "You were devoted to a woman who I killed. And part of you, part of your bond with that woman demands vengeance for her death. I don't fault you for that."
"But you don't have it within yourself to murder me. I did what I had to do for the stability of Tyran. That is why I killed Protea. And I believe a part of you knows that too."
"Or you would not have stopped."

Vici stared at Laelia her wide eyes swirling and searching till they turned a very deep sorrowful blue. In them the tears swelled and the walls echoed with the grief and confusion once again. As Vici stared at Laelia this look would seem to ask why. Why was she sad? Why was she so confused? Why could she not fault this woman before her either? Vici looked and stared and then if allowed would embrace Laelia. She didn't know what to do, she was lost, she was an orphan of tyran. A lost soul. And though she did not expect Laelia to take her in or even aid her anymore than the woman already had, she did find and take as much comfort in this moment as she could. There was just one more question to ask. What do I do now?
