Brice Darling got a message from one of his crew members that his friend, ex lover, enemy... what ever you wanted to call her was getting married. At first he scoffed, thinking she would be smarter than to settle down... but alas he clearly didn't know Tasha as well as he thought he did. Not that he minded the fact that she was getting married- he'd moved on a long time ago and now considered her a respectable ally. The reason he went? It was for the chance to extend that fact to her new husband. He couldn't go alone though- so he brought two of his favorite women with him: Soraya Ashe and his sister, Alice Darling. Alas, when things began to settle down, Brice figured it was time to finally meet the man known as Edward Teach face to face. Soraya at his elbow, and Alice off the the side. "Congratulations to you both. I hope this isn't a bad time... "
Tasha gasped as she heard Brice's voice. "Well I'll be.." she stood going to him.." Brice Darling. Where in the Neptune did you show up from. Last I heard you were five leagues from the southern long of Tyran...perhaps beyond." She was in her usual outfit he would know of. "Not at all. Please...what can I do for you?"
Teach looked to the door, to see where his Porter, Alfred was and why these guests had not been announced. He started to frown. A dark look came to his eyes. He started to rise and said to Tasha, "My love I leave you to your guests. There is something I must look into." He was verging on angry now. Alfred had always taken his duties so seriously.
Brice Darling was... respectable, but clearly not raised in such noble presence. Rather than his usual rags, he wore a specially tailored suit by one of the shops at the Darling Docks. "You know how my mother is, always pushing her children out to sea anytime something bad happens." He gave a small shrug. "Oh please, my lord, you look troubled." He let go of Sora to give Edward a low bow. "You see, with a name like mine I request to keep my name... out of the mouths of others." Not only was he part of the Darling family, but being the son of a goddess made him a target for far too many hunters. "Also, it is you who I've come to see- as lovely as you look this evening, Tasha."
Standing up straight, as if a solider on a parade ground he said, “Then may I suggest you begin by introducing yourself and your companions. As you know doubt have surmised, I am Edward Teach, 34th Lord of Roseshire.” He gave him a proper but stiff bow.
Tasha watched as Edward moved to leave. a look of concern upon her features before she looked back to Brice. "Yes, you told me many times about your mother. The goddess of something or other." Her hand gestured to the air moving about. She smiled "Such the flatterer, Brice. So, you came all this way to see me, no doubts finding The Briar Rose in Port." She smiled.
She looked to Edward. "My dear, this is Brice Darling. A fierce sailor who ever did sail the seas. He's just about as ruthless as I am upon these daring waters.”
If it was possible he went even stiffer upon hearing about the man's relationship to a goddess and turned full to face his wife saying simply “I see” with a haunted look in his eyes.
Brice Darling gave a small nod, "Of course." His eyes fluttered to Tasha, a smile forming over his lips. "Ah, it is you who flatters me, my lady." To her it was obvious he was pushing the whole proper talk on. Brice was raised in a temple, thus the pirate slang didn't linger, but he was no royal lord. "Peace and Creation these days." He finished her remark about his mother, hoping it would settle the tension on Edward's face. Jeez, this was not going well! "I was born long before she ascended... In my eyes, she's still the elven women who gave birth to me." He shook his head, not here to discuss his mother or the gods. "Aye, I am Brice- though I carry no title nor Lordship. I am, however, the co-owner of the Darling Docks and run a trading company. And these two," he gestured to the women who clearly looked uncomfortable in their formal wear. "My Lady Soraya Ashe.... My date for this evening. And accompanying us is my sister, Alice Darling... a business partner as well."
Tasha tilted her head up. "Pleasure. " She smiled to them. "So I assume this is a business venture you seek from me. What are you after this time? Some jaded statuette of a baboon's ass no doubt." She joked. She wasn't much for proper speak as well. She squeezed Edward's hand. "It's okay love." She looked to Brice "Please...let's go talk away from the public. That way we can drop all pretenses and well...be as we are.." she grinned.
Teach looked to his wife's eyes and she saw a thing she had never seen before. Fear. Terror even.
Katherine seeing something was very very wrong with her brother came down to try to rescue him. “Edward, my brother, I can see you're worried over Alfred. Go check on him. I'll entertain our guests with my darling sister, Natasha.”
Brice Darling qurked a brow at the new arrival. Damn... his plans blew right out of the water with the Lord wanting to leave. Had he said something wrong? No matter... Tasha was obviously the one he was more comfortable with. "You're correct in that assumption. A simple business... gift... I suppose."
“Mister Darling, please don't stand on such formality, please come and join my sister and I in a parlor for a light aperitif .” Katherine said soothingly. Teach just left with alacrity.

Tasha's eyes lingered on Edward. She had never seen him so afraid before. She nodded as Katherine intervened. "Brice, this is Katherine, Edward's sister..." she introduced. "Please excuse my husband, he worries about Alfred. He's getting older in years and he may kick the bucket soon." She covered for him. "A business gift? Of what?" Her eyes lit up.
Katherine deftly maneuvered them to a small parlor across from the great hall. When she looked to check, neither Alfred or Edward were anywhere to be seen.
Brice Darling gave a lopsided grin. "Very well..." he gave a small shrug. "A gift of a business deal. The Darling Docks would like to offer supplies and possibly trade with Roshire." He told the both of them when they were in the parlor.
As they moved into the parlor and settled in, Katherine herself poured small glasses of the coveted fae wine for everyone. “I am afraid you will have to talk to Natasha about that. That's trade and firmly in Edward's domain, now my sister's as well, I suppose.”
Tasha gestured to several flasks and glass bottles of what appeared to be hard alcohol. "Help yourself, Brice. Yes...a supplies and trade would be good match. " She smirked taking a step or two closer. "You tease me you know...saying you had a gift. You always had a way of doing that, Always a tease." She smirked.
Brice Darling , Sora, and Alice all took a seat. Only Brice helped himself to something to drink- Sora being far to uncomfortable and Alice not caring. "Sorry," he lied. "Although I do have a small chest of treasure left behind with my men. I wanted to make sure it was safe even being here before I brought gifts."
Passing by a doorway, Tasha saw another first at Roseshire, guards were being posted.
Tasha tilted her head as she looked to him "Well, you're safe here 'sug. Tell me...is offering a trade what you really came for, Brice Darling?" She folded her arms as she remained standing. She did notice the guards but chose not to address the issue.

======Later that evening======
Tasha nodded as he left. "A trade...okay." she walked out of the parlor seeing lots of guards. "Edward?" She called out.
She didn't see him and had to ask a guard who said he believed his Lordship was up in his rooms.
Tasha nodded and went upstairs to his room. "Edward?" She stepped through the door.
It was dark, but by the light of the stars and the moon she could just make out Edward, sitting at the table, dressed in leather armor and wearing his sword. Roon was no where in sight. He looked up and said in a quiet, deadly voice, “Your god's child friend gone then?”
Tasha nodded softly "He's gone for now. He wants to talk about trade and possibly business together with our family. Don't worry, 'sug. He doesn't know..." she ventured closer to him.
She could hear this leather creak and feel the tension in the room rise when he tensed as she approached.
Tasha stopped just short of him "Edward..." she spoke softly to him. Her voice laced with concern.
In that same soft dangerous voice he said, “You never told me you were …. close to a god's child.”
Tasha "'sug...I didn't think I would see him again. Honestly thought him to be dead." She spoke softly. She didn't move from her spot before him.
She heard him move in his seat again. “And he's gone?”
Tasha nodded "Aye. But he will return to discuss business. 'Sug. I don't think he means any harm. He doesn't know if what you are..."
His voice came out dripping venom. “He doesn't know what I am? You think I am just being paranoid, I know. I will even admit it if you can do one thing for me.”
Tasha flinched hearing the venom in his words. "What sug?" Her voice sounded hurt.
With steel in his voice he said, “Show me One. Other. Living. Nephilim.” He sent flame to the lamps and as the light sprung up she saw it wasn't anger or distrust on his face but abject fear.
Tasha gasped backing up a little as she tripped on her own feet. "Edward...." she winced rubbing her tail bone. "I'll protect you...no one will harm you or our son..."
His face soften, but the rest seemed so stiff that he was sore from his muscles being held so tight for so long. Kindness in his voice he asked, “From a god or goddess?”
Tasha remained on the floor. "Yes...even will die for you..."
Twinging at his sore muscles he stood and walked over to her and reached down to hand her up. “My love, I fear nothing of this world, but then we are not talking about things of this world are we? Short of decapitation, they may well be the only thing that can kill me.”
Tasha stood up as she looked to him. "Brice will not kill you. He will have to kill me first before that..." she took out her sword. Turning it around so the blade was pressed to her chest right at her heart. It didn't pierce yet. "If you don't believe me...then thrust the blade in.."
He grabbed the sword roughly by the blade and she saw a rich flow of his blood, but before her eyes the wound healed. “Please, Natasha, its not you I doubt, but I will never be able to trust a god's child. I am sorry if that makes me less in your sight.”
Tasha shook her head. "That doesn't make you lesser in my eyes. " She took his hand, making sure the cut was gone. "I understand why you don't like him. But...he could be of use to us. We can do with so much for our people if we traded with him. And I'll make sure he does not know of what you are..."
He shook his head, “Well, I did decide not to take any other woman for any reason to my bed save at your direction. I will leave it and dealing with him in your hands, my wife.” He looked up and fire returned to his eyes, “But, given your past with him, if he ever makes a single improper gesture or drops a word, he will die. God's be damned.”
Tasha cupped his face softly. "'Sug..it will be alright...you'll see." She kissed him.
He kissed her back then stepped back for a moment and bellowed, “Roon”. She came out of her room wearing a smaller version of his leather armor with a very large knife at her waist. “Get ready and go to bed now Roon, the training exercise is over.” She looked up at him suspiciously and a question at Tasha.
Tasha couldn't help but to laugh. It was comical to see her like that. "I found the monster first..."
Roon turned and went back into her room, dropping pieces of armor and weapons as she went. When she looked back to Edward he too was stripping his armor and weapons in almost the same exact way she had been. He looked up and said, “What?”
Tasha smiled weakly. "Nothing..was playing along with the exercise" she winced a little, moving to sit beside him.

Noticing her wince, finally, he moved to her and asked, “What is it my love? What has happened to you?”
Tasha exhaled sharply. "I'm...I'm alright...just..." wincing.
Concern burned in his eyes, “What is it my love?” His voice rising in worry.
Tasha closed her eyes. "It's. Just my cycle startin'"
He calmed visibly. “Not much I can do for that,” chuckling, “unless you want to regress to childhood. But I can take the pain away at least.”
Tasha chuckled softly. "Nah it's alright 'sug..."
Arching his eyebrow in surprise, “You want your pain?”
Tasha shook her head. Doubled over a bit "nah 'sug...I'm just used to it..."
He reflexively took her in his arms and kissed her deeply.
Tasha kissed him back. A soft whimper as she curled her arms around him.
He hung on to her. He was clearly spent from the high emotions of the last couple days and his lack of sleep the last couple of nights.
Tasha winced weakly. Her pain leaving as she went slack against him.
Looking haggered he asked, “Do you still want to share my bed or, do you want you space at this time?”
Tasha shook her head. "I want...to be with you..." she looked tired
He picked her up and carried her to their room.
Tasha curled against him. Snuggling up to him.
He pulled her close and held her like a cherished possession all through the night.

In the morning, she was still curled up beside him. He would feel something warm and wet around her and some on him.
Though he felt the blood pool around him he didn't care, he woke and held her. He watched her as he enjoyed the feel of the weight of her against him. So what their clothes and bedding were wet? They could be replaced. A moment like this could not. He kissed her lightly, trying not to wake her.
Tasha grimaced lightly... wincing some but remained asleep. Roon came in, crawling up the bed. "Ew! Why is the bed all wet.." she looked at her hand seeing the blood. Eyes widened in fear "mommy?!"
Looking up Edward said, “Shh Roon, she's sleeping. She's fine. Its a thing of grown women. I will explain it later. Come, cuddle to my back and lay with us for awhile.”
Roon looked scared. "Mommy going to be alright?" She moved beside him. Curling up behind him.
“Yes Roon she will be fine. When a girl becomes a woman she gets her monthly blood. It means she is able to be a mother. The Blooding ceremony tonight? We will be celebrating and welcoming girls into womanhood because they have received their first blood. They will be able to carry a child. That's all this means, she able to carry a child, but this month, she hasn't caught one.”
Roon buried her head into his back. "I thought she was going to have my brother or sister."
He snorts, “That will take closer to a year, daughter. And that is an entirely different talk that its way too early to have.”
Roon blinks "What talk is that Edward." Tasha groaned in her sleep. Moving a bit for comfort.
“The what's and how's of how she will catch and have your brother.” He was started to crouch in closer to Tasha, as if trying to physically escape this conversation. Then he fastens on something he can directly address, “And its Father or Daddy, not Edward anymore.”
Roon blinked "Okay...daddy...." she looked over his shoulder to Tasha. Tasha moved more, as if in pain. Whimpering lightly as she curled into him more.
He kissed her temple and her cheek. Looked back at Roon and said, “Sweetheart, come and cuddle you mother while I draw her a hot bath. It will help.”
Roon nodded softly. "Okay Daddy."
He eased out of the bed to start to go run a hot hot bath.
Roon curled up with her. Stroking her cheek. "It's okay mommy..." she coo'd.
Teach looked and watched with adoration in his eyes as he peeled off the blood soaked clothes and gathered a clean set from the closets before heading to the bathroom.
Roon kept whispering soft words as Tasha slept.
He went and rinsed himself off and then started a bath as hot as he could stand it for his wife. Then smacking his forehead he pulled out a water basin and filled it with water a little cooler to wash Roon. Replacing him, she would be covered in blood now.
Roon had fallen asleep curled up next to her. Holding her.
Edward came back into he room and bent over Tasha and whispered in her ear “I have a hot bath ready. It will help.”
Tasha whimpered softly. "Edward..." the pain thick in her voice.
He picked her up In his arms and carried her to the bathroom, where he stared to undress her, while still holding her.
Tasha hissed lightly as he moved her. Opening her eyes a bit.
He kissed her, letting his tongue slid into her month to be sure she received enough healing to take her pain from her. He finished undressing her and began to slip her into the steaming hot tub.
Tasha tensed some feeling the water...
He finished easing her in, taking it slowly so she could acclimate to it a bit at a time. When he had her in, he went back for Roon. Undressing her and holding the half asleep child in his lap he began to quietly wash the blood and nights sweat off her with the warm water and a sponge.
Roon stirred as he bathed her. "Mm daddy....let me sleep..."
He snorted, “Child, I thought we wanted to practice with that new rapier I bought you and you wanted to go down to the ships today.”
Roon "Five more minutes..."
He snickered, “Always five more minutes. Five more minutes. Five more minutes” He said as he started to tickle her.
Finally having her awake he toweled her dry, dressed her, brushed her hair and sent her to breakfast with Katherine. Then he came over to kneel beside the tub and took the soap and sponge in hand.
Tasha opened her eyes weakly. Her head leaning on the back of the tub. "Hey..." she spoke quietly
He didn't speak, just smiled at her and began washing the remaining blood off her.
Tasha closed her eyes. Letting him wash her. "I'm sorry 'sug...never had it this bad before...."
He shrugged and said casually, “I can send my sister Rose to you. She is widowed and has served as a midwife before.”
Tasha looked to him. "But I'm not pregnant yet, 'sug..."
He laughed softly. “Midwives are for more than that. They are like, well, a little short of healers for women and women's issues.”
Tasha nodded softly. "Could be helpful..." she closed her eyes. "'Sug...you should go to breakfast...I'll be okay. "
He got up, kissed again and left. Typical man, he left the bathroom door open and she saw a small child sized rapier in his hand as he left the main chamber. He sent his sister directly to her.

Tasha spent a little time in the bath before getting out. By the time she got out, the bed was cleaned and new sheets on. She laid back down. Roon was running about the halls on a hobby horse.
After a little while he stormed back into the room spotting Roon. “There you are girl. Down the practice yard or you don't get your new rapier. Go Go Go.” He walked into the bedchamber and ran his fingers through her hair and kissed her lightly. He asked, “Has Rose by in yet?”
Tasha nodded tiredly "yeah...she made this weird tea...tasted bitter..." she groaned. "It makes me dizzy...tired... she said it would help..."
He nodded, “She knows her business. I better go down to the practice yards before Roon tries to challenge every guard we have.” He smiled fondly.
Tasha smiled softly. "Alright....be careful..." she spoke softly.
======Later that evening at dinner======
As they sat in the private rooms, Edward having talked Katherine to preside over the main dinner, Roon kept looking disbelievingly back and forth from Edward to Tasha and back again.
Edward was very solicitous of her. He was over and talking to her quietly when finally Room piped up. “So you guys really do that?” Edward rolled his eyes.
Tasha blinked. "D..do what Hun?" Her voice weak.
Before she could answer Edward glared at her, silencing her. He turned to Tasha to explain. “We were down at the docks this afternoon and one of the sailors asked if I had gotten you with child yet and made a crude gesture with his hips. Well, she's seen animals you know. She made the connection and a talk was suddenly needed. One of your sailors did end up kissing the gunney's daughter though, I'm sorry.
Tasha blinked her eyes wide. "Oh...dear.."
He shook his head and said, “Yeah. Its been a very edifying week for her. An education I would that could have been put off for awhile.”
Tasha laughed softly "Yeah. Stupid sailor " she ran her hand through her hair.
He kissed her again to try and take her pain.
Tasha kissed him. "Thanks love..." her pain was manageable now. "Did I miss anything else today besides the rude sailor?"
“Well, our daughter is taking to the rapier like a duck to water. She instinctively assumes the right stances and postures. She loves the ships and the sailors all love her, even the fellow who ended up kissing the gunney's daughter.” He looked back Roon and said, “To answer you question, yes, but not again any time soon if you keep trying to get me in trouble.” He kissed her with a depth of warmth that was almost scalding.
Tasha chuckled softly as she felt the kiss.
He spent the rest of the evening with is girls. Before long he chased Roon to bed and it was a real chase with mock hunt and sword fight. Once the girl was down he looked at her and said it was time he started getting ready for the Blooding ceremony, he would make her excuses for her.
Tasha shook her head getting up as she got ready. "No...I'll go..."
He nodded, a look of pride in his eyes, looking at her.

======Just before midnight outside a round building in the village=====
As they stood outside the building he explained a couple things to her. “It will begin when the moon is at its apogee not at a midnight by the clock. You need to go in the east door, for women. The west door is for girls, they will leave by the east door. Since I am neither girl nor woman, a separate door was cut for me around back. When you enter, you will strip to your waist and remain that way, to prove to all that you truly are a woman. You will join me on the dais and all the women will examine each other to see that they are in fact women then and that no man or boy is present they will present themselves to us, for us to see their breasts and know that they are women. They each will also look at your breast verifying your womanhood. A chant will start and the Crone will describe the three stages of a woman's life. Maidenhood, Matron and Crone. The Crone will talk about herself and the closing of a woman's years, her wisdom and experiences and her responsibility to pass it on. Then the Matron will discuss the middle part of a woman's life. Married life, children, household and daily duties and obligations. Then the girls will come in striped to the waist and be presented to each woman and then to us to prove they are female. There will be a lot of talk about the end of innocence and beginning of womanhood. The need to continue to listen to one's parents and elders. Finding of a good husband and a good trade. What it means to be able to carry life within you and to not irresponsibly give yourself away. Then the girls will bring their bed sheets or clothes from the very first time the found the blood was on them to prove they have crossed over. Bring it around to be inspected by all. Then the women, you included will smack each girl to represent the last blows they will accept as children, for thenceforth they have the legal rights of redress. There will be singing and then a feast. Each girl usually tries to come and talk to me a little to show they are women and no longer frightened children. I have traditionally given each girl a gift of one gold coin for each year of life. Then all the women will leave by the east door to welcome the dawn with song and only when the sun is fully up can they all replace their tops. I will come out the back door and stand to the side. When it is all done, you and I will pick a Maiden for the month, she will be crowned and exempted from all duties and obligations. Go where she wants and do what she wants. She will often eat in the great hall with us.
Tasha nodded softly. "Alright....." she took his words in. Turning to him.
He looked to her and said, “Its still alright if you want to beg off. Gods knows I would if I could.” He looked at the building, little uncomfortably.
Tasha cupped his chin. "It's okay. And if you want to, after we choose the girl....you may have her if I can't feed you..." she smirked softly as she was all ready now.
His eyes grew real big. “They are children! I'm sorry you misunderstood me. This is a symbolic rite of adulthood, not age of consent. This marks a girls first menstrual cycle.”
Tasha sighed, letting her hand drop. "I'm sorry..." she kissed his lips. "I did misunderstand...."
Taking her in his arms he chuckled and said, “No, tesoro mio, the fault is mine for not explaining well enough.”
Tasha melted into his arms. "Well. We should be on our way. " She kissed his neck.
He nodded, kissing her one more time and told her, “You go ahead and move on in, the east door, remember and remember you have to strip to the waist upon entering. I will go around back and be in in a minute. There may already be some women there.”
Tasha nodded "Alright..." she moved from his arms and into the door he indicated for her. Looking about as she took a glance around her.
There were already a number of women in the chamber, ranging in age from the Crone to teens. She only recognized one from the Manor, Sammie. They were all striped to their waists, with varying degrees of seeming comfort, just like Edward had said.
Tasha after taking a stock of things around her, stripped to her waist. She recognized the Crone and Sammy, but no one else. She seemed confident.
Sammie looked to her and away. Let out a shuddering breath and looked to her and tried twice to say something, then looked away again.
Tasha her gaze lingered on Sammie for a moment before she walked by the other women. Nodding softly.
Sammie saw her coming and stood straighter, a flush coming to her young skin.
Tasha walked slowly, as she reached her. Pausing in front of her. She didn't speak, just stood there for a moment regarding her as she finally moved on, for what seemed like forever.
Sammie steeling herself one last time spoke and Tasha heard a soft, “My Lady?”
Tasha she smiled softly. Taking a place near Sammie. She was like steel. Cold. "Nice to see you here, Sammie" she spoke. Her voice had pleasantry but with an undertone that could be said of venom. She stood there...waiting for it to start.
Hearing the displeasure in her voice Sammie turned from her with tears in her eyes. “I'm sorry My Lady, I should not have bothered you.”
Tasha looked to her. "I don't know whatever you mean, love?" She smiled to her. Her voice even pleasant. Posture seemed fine. But her eyes were like daggers, someone could easily miss that.
“My Lady,” she began uncertainly, “After what his Lordship said....” looking away again for just a moment she looked back and squared her shoulders and dived in. “My Lady, I figured you deserved to know.” She talked quickly and nervously, as if afraid she'd loose her nerve or be interrupted. “My Lady, when his Lordship brought me here I was the age of these girls tonight. My father had just beat the child, his child from my womb.” She looked down again. “Edw.... His Lordship healed me and brought me here. He never touched me otherwise. But I always remembered that kiss.” Here she looked defiantly into Tasha's eyes. “The night I became a woman grown I went to him. He almost sent me away, but I told him I wanted it. I needed it to, “she looked away again, “burn the last taint of my father's touch from me.” Looking back defiantly to Tasha she went on. “Ed.. His Lordship never sent for me, never demanded anything of me. Always it was my choice to seek him out and my gift to him. He never took, My Lady, I gave. I will always be proud of serving him in such a way. I love him like we all do, but I do not love him like a wife, as you do my Lady. I just thought you should know. Once he healed my body, then he healed my spirit. The Lady Katherine does not know. I guess, now I should see if she can find me some other situation away from Roseshire,” a tear entered her eye, “I will not be a thing between you. I just thought you should know, my Lady.”
Tasha felt the anger build up in her. Her fists clenching as she heard her speak. She looked to her for the longest time. Then without word she raised her hand and struck her hard across the cheek with the back of her hand. "Listen here. If I hear of you ever touching my husband again without my consent.....you will fear much more than you possibly could imagine..." she spat at her with such venom. She looked at her for a moment. Fighting to do more than just hit her. Then backed off. "I don't want to hear anymore from you..." she backed away.
A few minutes later Edward came in and simply sat in one of the two chairs on the dais. He smiled a put on smile to everyone present.
Tasha looked one last time at Sammie before moving to the dais next to him.
Looking around the room she spotted Sammie and a look of surprise entered his eyes as he then looked at his wife. The expression then became sheerest disappointment. She could feel the temperature in the room drop several degrees and felt cold bumps rise on her skin. Just than the ceremony began.

Goosebumps formed on her skin. Her nipples perked to the cold. She sat down. Tense.
The ceremony went on as described. He dutifully looked at each woman's breasts and girl's verifying their femininity. He inspected each piece of cloth with each girl's first blood on it. All the while he said not a word, even where there were places open for him to speak. The temperature only rose marginally. She noted he didn't look over to her when the Matron described a woman's roles as wife and mother.
Then came the time for the feasting. The girls, the new “women” came and tried to engage him in conversation, but he remained mute. Then they tried grabbing her hands to drag her off to the food table. Some of the other women looked over at him with concern plainly painted on their faces.
Tasha nodded and went with them. But ate little. Just enough to keep them happy, despite not eating much food all day.
She noticed two things; Sammie avidly avoided both her and Edward and he just sat there and stared off into nothing.
Tasha sighed softly, looking to him. "Excuse me.." she left the women and went up to Edward. "'Sug?"
He did not say anything but looked at her and the look of disappointment was still plain in his eyes.
Tasha gasped softly seeing the look on his face...she looked to him. Speechless....
He turned his head slightly and looked back out into the room, silent as the tomb.
Tasha sighed moving to sit in her chair. Head in her hands.
Feasting done, all the women present began singing and moving toward the east door to welcome the sun.
Tasha didn't move from the chair as they left. Head still in her hands.
He stood and started to move to his door to come around and join them for the last of the ceremony.
Tasha got up and walked to her door to join them. In silence.
The singing ended as the sun rose. The women put their tops back into place. Then they all turned and looked at the two of them expectantly.
Tasha looked to them blankly for a moment. Before she remembered the coins. She handed them out. "My husband...will choose..." she looked to him. "As he always has..." her voice held the presence they wanted but he knew it was a front.
He nodded at one of he girls, she thought she might recognize her as one of the sailor's daughters and in a gleeful enthusiasm all the collected women and girls rushed her, shoved a garland on her head and picking her up bodily walking away, laughing, giggling and singing. The Crone looked up suddenly surprised that he had not spoken and got ready to say something, but then thinking the better of it turned and followed the procession. He stood there waiting till they were all out of sight.
Tasha slowly put her top back on. Silent as she didn't look to him. He would see her shaking softly.
He turned on his heel and started back to the Manor house.
Tasha followed him. "'Sug...." she spoke softly...
He about faced so swiftly she nearly ran into him. He just stood there waiting for her to speak.
Tasha gasped nearly running into him. She looked to him. "Look...I know you're upset...I don't know what came over me....I shouldn't have hit her okay?"
He gasped, “You hit her?” he asked disbelievingly.
Tasha blinked eyes searching him "I...I'm sorry..." she looked down. Obviously upset by how she had acted.
He took a deliberate breath. “Look, I don't know exactly what happened or what was said but I can guess. She came to you to make peace and you spit in her face. I'll even wager she wants to leave here now over it.”
Tasha stumbled back...she couldn't look to him "I'm...sorry...I...." tears fell. "It was like I couldn't hear her words.... probably bad timing with her telling me ...given my cycle...but....it's no excuse...she...she can stay...." she held her hands in front of her. Shoulders moving in silent cries.
Again deliberately taking a breath he said, “She is the most gentle spirit I have ever encountered. Even more so than Katherine. I told you the days of me letting her come to my bed are done. What did I say? Never. Again.”
She didn't answer. He heard an audible sob. Her head down.
“Oh she can stay? As simple as that? No. A noble is someone who puts her people's needs above her own wants and desires.” Speaking again she was certain now she was not hearing her husband and lover, but the Lord Roseshire. “You broke it. You fix it.” He turned on his heel and strode off.
Tasha blinked watching him walk away...she shuttered softly as she turned to find Sammie..
Straining she could vaguely hear the sounds of merry making a couple streets away. When she got there she found an eating house, closed for just this celebration. The singing and joyful noises coming from with in.

Tasha she went inside the eating house. Looking about to see if Sammie was there.
When the girl saw her enter she quickly made for the back door in an attempt to avoid her.
Tasha went quickly to her "Sammie! Sammie, wait..."
Sammie, seeing she couldn't escape turned and curtsied to Tasha, “Yes my Lady, you required something.” There was not a note of anything but the proper deference a Lady's Maid gave a Lady.
Tasha sighed. "Sammie...no need to be formal with me. We need to talk. Look I'm sorry for striking you...I know I shouldn't have but... something just snapped..." she looked to her.
Again the deferential Lady's Maid, “I understand my Lady, I should have never spoken out of turn. I beg your pardon.”
Tasha sighed laying a hand on her shoulder. "Sammie...no my lady's...no ma'am....just talk to me like one of these village girls..." she looked to her. Her hand cupping her cheek where she struck her. Hand shaking. "Sammie...I am so...so sorry."
A tear coming to her eye, “No need, my Lady. In the morning I will ask Lady Katherine to find me another placement, away from Roseshire.” Try as she might to hide it, Tasha still saw the grief and fear at leaving Roseshire, echoed in the girls eyes.
Tasha shook her head. "No...stay Sammie...please..." her voice broke. "I have been...touchy about my hus....about Edward. And this month's cycle...has been odd...felt things stronger than need be...no excuse. Sammie...what can I do to make it up to you?"she smiled. "Would...you like to hit me back?
The girl looked at her with horror in her eyes, “No my Lady! Never! If nothing else, you are his wife and I would never so disrespect you. Neither do I want to stay if my presence will be a strain between you. As long as I have known him, he has always made me want to be the best version of myself I could be. So I know it is best if I leave.”
Tasha shook her head. "It's alright. I spent years and years at sea with a bunch of men, sailors. You think I didn't get into plenty of fights? I want you to stay. We'll be alright. Don't worry about us, 'Sug. Come back with me. Come mornin' you will be sittin in my spot at the table. You can be the Lady Of Roseshire for the day. You will be pampered and spoiled. I'll even let you be with him if you choose...just... please....stay..." she pleaded. She held the woman's hand.
Eye's wide. “My Lady, I would never dream of having your place, at his side or in his bed. What I gave him in the past, well, it was as much because I could chose to give it as much as it was about him. Aside from my father, he is the only man I've... I mean.” She gulped. “I love him, but as we all do, not as you do. He has always been safe, because he would not ask or demand, but accepted the gift.” She stopped not sure if she had said too much again.
Tasha brushed her cheek. "I insist....its okay... please...stay. you can be me. And I'll double...no..triple your pay.
Eyes even wider, “My Lady, I don't get paid as such. Everything I want or need is given to me and money is put away against my bride price or my own use if I ever decide to leave. I have seen other servants who chose pay rather than accommodation. Life always seems so hard for them.”
Tasha smiled softly. "I'll add to your bride price. Edward paid mine with some fae wine. I'm sure I can add a few more to yours..." she took one of her rings off her finger. Sliding it upon hers. "From now on till tomorrows dusk and the day after morning. You are the Lady of Roseshire. You will be able to do as you like with my authority. You are now me..." she smiled.
Sammie looked at her, a truly frightened look in her eyes. “I could not!” She looked away momentarily. “Why? Why the sudden change of heart? I am just a maid and a ruined woman before ever I came here. Though I swear to you that the only two men who ever …. “ Breathing deeply. “I will never share his bed again, I promise you.”
She smiled "I messed up. It's only right I make it up to you. Sammie . Say you'll stay. You can do what you will. Even with Edward. " She held her hands . Looking into her eyes. "You're not ruined. Lady of Roseshire.
Tears in her eyes, she gulped a breath. Once, twice and thrice before she could speak. “My Lady, you are his Lady Wife, how can you offer me a place in his bed and not want to flay me alive?”
Tasha exhaled softly. "Because...there may be a time when I am not here....you need to take my place with him. Its of life or death." She didn't go into details of why yet. She brushed her tears away. "Please...won't you stay."
She snorted and for the first time spoke to Tasha woman to woman in a grosgrain voice; “They always say its a matter of life or death.”
Tasha laughed softly. She smiled softly. "Ready to be a noble for a day and a morn?" She smiled to her.
Still a little apprehensive, she shrugged and finally nodded.
Tasha smiled softly. She leaned forward and kissed her cheeks softly. She took her hand and led her back to the room "May I have everyone's attention!" She yelled out. She waited till all the talking stopped and was quiet . "For the next 24 hrs and a dawn. Sammie will be Lady of Roseshire temporarily. Treat her as if she was me. Give her the same respect you would the me or the Lord. " She smiled. "Long live the Lady of Roseshire!!!" She cried out pulling her hand up that held her ring on Sammie's finger.
Sammie blushed as the girls flocked around her. She looked to Tasha before declaring the Maiden Lady Roseshire for an hour.
Tasha smiled letting her bask for a moment. After a bit, she took her hand "come on my lady, we aught to head back to the manor. "
Sammie followed docilely.

Tasha led her back to the manor. Up to their floor and living areas. "Edward?" She called out softly.
She found him laying with Roon in her bed, half awake, trying to convince Roon to get up for classes. The girl wasn't having it.
Tasha smiled. "Roon..hon...time to get up for your classes.." she sat upon the Bed. Letting go of Sammie's hand. She smiled to Edward.
He looked very weary and she remembered that aside from not sleeping any the last three nights, he had caused and controlled a massive wild fire, thunderstorm, tornadoes and the chill air last night. She thought she had even heard Roon saying something about the “harbor itself humping up to meet her”. Oh, he still looked vital, and twice as vital as any other man, but not as vital as she had seen him these last weeks traveling together.
Tasha cupped his cheek. "Edward...I brought Sammie back. She is to take my place...my role for the next 24 hrs...and a dawn.." she spoke softly as she looked to Sammie. She took Sammie's hand and placed it in Edwards as she tried to rouse Roon.
Rubbing sleep from his eyes he looked up to the two of them with a cockeyed grin. “What? Two Lady Roseshires? What will the neighbors think? And I can't even hardly manage one.” He kissed the back of Sammie's hand but leaned over to kiss Tasha on the lips.
Tasha kissed him back. "Yes...well...she is taking my place for the time being." She smiled as she got up slowly. "She is to take my spot at the table. And do whatever I normally do..." she placed Sammie where she was sitting. "It's alright....have fun you cute couple." She bowed to them like she was a servant and turned to leave that area, moving through a door to another room on the same floor.
After a couple of minutes she heard a splash and a yelp from Roon, followed by laughter from Sammie and Edward. A few minutes later she heard Roon being ushered from the rooms and Edward and Sammie sitting down in the parlor. He served up some pastries and mead for her.
Tasha smiled softly hearing them. She waited a little while before peaking her head in to see how they were doing. Watching with a smile.
Edward continued to smile and make small talk, asking about how she was getting on with her new astronomy teacher.”
Tasha smiled and let them be. She moved to lay down in her room. Dozing off as she was exhausted.
When she woke she felt Edward curled up beside her holding her, half asleep but fighting to stay awake to watch her and play lightly with her hair.
Tasha curled into him. Snuggling. "Edward... you're... supposed to be with Sammie..." she spoke tiredly. Fingers curling through his hair and beard.
He laughed softly. “Lady for a day and you think she'd really want to spend the whole day with me and not want to go about the Manor and village?”
Tasha smiled softly. Yawning. "Yeah...I guess so..."
He kissed her neck and nibbled her ear. Teasing her.
Tasha giggled softly to the nibbling. "Mmm”.
He continued to nibble, tickle and tease until she was squirming. Finally he said, “She did ask me an odd question though.”
Tasha panted as she looked to him "oh?"
“She told me that you told her she could continue to be with me. That in fact there may come a time when you were unavailable to me and it would be a matter of life and death. She asked me how could any wife offer her husband's attentions so easily.”
Tasha looked to him, brushing her hand along his jaw. "Was she worried I'd change my mind again?”
“No, she simply doesn't understand how you could be alright with it. And she certainly doesn't understand about the life or death part. I have never told her about the aethor. I always wanted to give her the gift of freely offering. Not feeling obligated or it being required. She did not always have the choice you know.”
Tasha closed her eyes, laying against him. "I just...do. I didn't want to just blab out to her and let her know that you really need it sometimes to live. I....don't know if I'm always going to be here to help you..." her fingertips ran across his flesh softly.
He breathed a noisy sigh. “To be able to reliably call on her, I'd have to tell her and take that complete freedom of self giving from her. It would become a duty, a obligation. I never wanted that for her. So who's going tell her? I sure as hell ain't.”
Tasha didn't answer for a while. "I want her to still have a choice 'sug...." she sighed. "I...keep messing things up..." she curled up tighter, her heart rate sped up.
“No my wife,” he kissed her neck, “I know what you are trying to do. No. I said she nor any other woman would come to my bed and they will not.”
Tasha looked to him. She could still feel her heart pounding in her chest. She was sure he could feel it too. "'Sug...you know I won't always be here....I wont have you get weakened and die without...." her voice caught.
He was shaking his head. “I am not some wilting violet. I only need replenishment when I use too much aethor. I can and have in the past liked to “store” a large amount against possible emergencies, but I can cope without. As long as I am careful I will be fine.”
Tasha exhaled softly. "No you won't be....I can just feel it 'sug...." her voice strained as she moved to partially lay upon him. "You need that Aethor to heal our people and anyone else who needs it.
Laying back to let her lay her head on his chest and caressed her head with his hand. “My love, I remember what seeing me heal did to you. It was why I made this oath. And I am still stronger right at this moment than I was when you first met me.”
Tasha sighed. "I don't want you to stop healing...they need you..." her fingertips grazed his skin.
Shaking his head, “And what about he damage it does in here?” tapping her chest over her heart.
Tasha she took his hand. Kissing his fingertips. "My love. I'm fine.... please..."
He kissed her, wrapped himself around her and remained silent.
Tasha kissed him back. Passion. Love. Warmth.
Holding her in his arms he, for he first time in days, finally slept.
Tasha fell asleep in his arms.

About dinner time, Roon plopped down in bed and said blithely “Dinner time”.
Tasha didn't stir in his arms.
He woke and smiled at Roon, shaking Tasha a little.
Tasha still didn't wake.
A little concerned he took her head in his hands and kissed her, deeply.
Tasha groaned lightly as she finally began to stir. "Mm?"
Sighing relief he said, “Dinner time, tesoro mio.”
Tasha eyes fluttered. "Edward?" She spoke sleepily.
“Yes my love?” he asked with a soft purr to his voice.
She smiled softly. Her fingertips grazing his features.
“All is well, my love?”
Tasha nodded "Yes...just tired. Up all night and day... emotions..."
He nodded and looked tenderly at her. “Are you up for dinner or should I take Roon along without you?” Smirking, “You did set Sammie in your stead for the night.”
Tasha smiled softly, kissing his neck. "I'll get something later. And yes, Sammie is me still..."
He looked at her a bit of concern in his eyes, “Are you sure, my love? I can send down my regrets. And too.... this does not seem like a normal moon to me. Six older sisters you know.”
Tasha grimaced some as she moved. Her voice soft. "Cycle too?" She smiled weakly. "Why don't you want to go down there too?"
Grinning, “Well, aside from the obvious, that I want only you at my side. I'd much rather stay here and tend you.”
Tasha smiled softly as she looked to him. "I know my love..."
He looked over his shoulder and said, "Roon, go on down to dinner and help Sammie get it started."
Roon nodded and skipped out. Her eyes closed softly as she rested.
When he heard, first their bedroom door, then the outer door close; he began to try to undress her saying. “I am going to take the lion's share of your pain and these other symptoms from you. This is not normal and I will not see you suffer when I could so easily alleviate it.”
Tasha fluttered her eyes open. Watching him undress her. "I told ya 'sug...it's a bad cycle. Sometimes it...it happens"
He nodded as he unfastened her shirt. “Perhaps in the past. No more, not while you have me on hand to lessen the discomfort for you.” He pushed her shirt off. He was purposely being very slow and taking his time with her. He guessed this is something she may not be comfortable with.
Tasha shivered lightly. She gasped lightly then exhaled a shaky breath. "It really hurts you ...doesn't it 'sug? To see me this way...it's alright...soon...after this is over we can have our son."
Looking into her eyes he simply unfastened her pants and said, “We can deal with that another day and that day is not today. Let us salve your pain first.” He got up and crossed the room to fetch some toweling to lay under her.
Tasha kept her eyes upon him. Breathing softly. Love in her eyes as she watched him move around. To ready to make her feel better.
When he finished he rolled over to lay beside her and said, “Remember just give it a minute or two, though with as much of my essence as I've shared with you, for you it ought start being quicker.” Running the backs of his fingertips down the outside of her face. “When you feel a difference tell me how much. We can do this again if need be. Or till your cycle is over, if it takes that to keep so much pain from you.”
Tasha smiled softly. Her lids closing as she laid beside him. "I will...just...feel tired still...I never had you so gentle before.." she smiled softly.
He smiled back and answered, “You have never needed me to be so gentle before, nor have I ever suspected you wanted it. If you do, I can certainly be gentle more often.”
Tasha nodded softly"It's unexpected...but..I like it..." kissed him tiredly.
He got up and walked into the bathroom and returned with a rag and warm water. Without saying a word, he simply started cleansing her.
Tasha curled into him. Drifting off again in his arms. After a while the door opened. It was Sammie. She blinked. "I'm...sorry..." blushing as she slowly tucked her head back out of the door.

He called out to her, “Sammie, no girl. Come here and sit on the bed and tell us what you came to tell us.” She did but blushing bright cherry red and kept her eyes averted.
Tasha slept softly. Sammie came in, not looking to them. "There's...a woman here to see you. She said you have to help her with her daughter..."
Half rising he asks quickly, “What's happened? How old is the daughter and how bad is it?” Then looking at Tasha, he shook his head and looked back sadly, almost forlornly and said, “No, I am sorry Sammy, so very very sorry, but there is nothing I can do.”
Tasha smiled tiredly. "Go....tend to her...." Sammie blinked looking to him. "She's asking for you. She said her daughter collapsed...she's turning blue..."
Looking down, with a tear in his eye he whispered, "I cannot. I made a promise."
Tasha looked to him. "It's not fair...you heal me but not them. Go Edward. I release you....of your vow." She ran her hand along his cheek. Sammie just looked at them wide eyed.
He shook his head, “You can release me from the oath I made to you, but not to the one to myself and I swore I would never, never hurt you again.”
Tasha sat up slowly. "Edward....if you do not help her. ..." she slowly started to get dressed. "I will leave..."
He knew when he had been defeated. He simply bowed his head and asked the same questions of Sammie. “What's happened? How old is the daughter and how bad is it?”
Sammie blinked stunned. "Um 17. She was working the fields and collapsed . She's puffin out like...a ball..." she spoke. "the mother is downstairs"
He nodded. “Bring them up here. Put the girl in one of the guest rooms and DO NOT LET THE MOTHER IN. You know why. I will go to the girl when she is settled. While I am in there someone has to keep the mother together and AWAY from that room.” He looked up at the two of them for acknowledgment.
Sammie did as she was told. "The girl is still in the village. I can send for her. " Sammie and Tasha nodded. "The girl is in the village. They were afraid to move her. I'll keep the mother here." Sammie said. Tasha finished getting dressed. "Should I go?" She looked to Edward, concerned.
Noting the anxiousness in Sammie, so much so she was starting to repeat herself. He shook his head, “No Sammie, if she is still in the village, I will go to her.” Looking to Tasha he continued, “Send for Maggie to sit with the mother and keep her here till I am finished. I want the two of you with me.” Rather than getting dressed in his usual attire he slipped a simple patricians robe on and handed Sammie a dressing gown. Looking at the two he said, “Shall we?”
Tasha nodded confidently. Sammie hesitated but nodded too.
He led them to a panel in the wall of the room and pushed it in to reveal a tunnel. Looking over his shoulder, “Some of my ancestors were not the most trusting people. But this will be faster, come.” He led them quickly through a warren of passages.
Tasha followed swiftly. Her face full with determination.
They suddenly emerged from a utility shed behind the women's ceremonial hut. He motioned to Sammie to lead the way. Looking to his wife he asked in a quiet voice, “Are you quite sure about this?”
Tasha nodded softly. "Yes." Sammie led them to a small hut. Inside laid the girl, barely breathing. Swollen and blue in the face. The father was there and frantic. "Oh thank goodness you came my Lord, my Lady."
Laying his hand on the man's shoulder he said, “I will need you to wait out here with my wife and Sammie. I am going to attend to her, but it sounds tricky. Just wait out here till I am done and I promise all will be well.” He took the dressing gown from Sammie and disappeared into the hut.
Tasha led the man outside. He nodded going with them. Sammie hesitated. Edward would recognize this as a severe allergic reaction to something.
Laughing almost maniacally he saw it was such and easy fix. A kiss and done. He went to kiss the girl and her breathing eased, but she remained unconscious. Puzzled he looked more closely and noted her coloring and a light dusting of a pollen like substance on her clothing. Immediately he poked his head back out of the door and asked the father where she was working the fields. Hearing the answer he cursed again and said, “Go man, run, get all the workers from that field. Blackcap mushrooms are sporing. I will go and do a burn when I finish here. Tell them NO ONE is to enter that field. He ducked back into he hut and cut the girls clothes from her and immediately burned them to a cinder. He had decided if healing this girl was so important to his wife he would do it. He would do it good and well.
The father ran to do as he was told. Tasha stood outside with Sammie, guarding the entrance.
He took his time. He knew what he was going to do and he knew it would cost him a great amount of aethor to achieve it, then he would have to do the burn. To do it properly would nearly drain him after this, but he served his people. He WAS their Lord.
Tasha sat outside keeping the parents out of the room. The parents were frantic. Sammie sat there blankly. "Really?" She said after a while. Tasha smiled. "Yes...that's the secret." She made sure Sammie knew...but others wouldn't over hear.
After a time he walked out of the hut and stumbled, going down on one knee, but standing right back up. Looking to Tasha he said, “Its done, good and well done. She will be in the best health she has ever been in and she will be immune to disease and poison from now on. And there was one other thing I was able to do. And this was the tricky part the costly part. I restored her physical maidenhood.”
Tasha got up and ran her fingers along his face. Looking concerned. The parents came over, missing the part about restoring her maidenhood. "Thank you Lord Edward. How can we ever repay you.." they fawned over him. Tasha just kept her eyes on him. Worried.
“Take me to the field she was in.” He straightened himself and as he started walking, looked to Tasha explaining, “The blackcap mushroom spores twice a year and its spore is a deadly poison. Too many of my people have died in years past because I wasn't here. I am here now and will deal with this.”
The father nodded as he took them. Tasha nodded following shortly behind him.
Looking at them, both, he said: “I will need you to keep everyone back until I am well underway. Then I will need you close when I am done at hand, but not too close.” Looking out over the field he called forth fire and sent it out in a sheet of flame. Then turned up the heat. The flame became blue and he began to move forward sweeping the field leaving nothing but burnt earth in his wake. Suddenly he stumbled and stood, reaching down inside himself he pushed harder and the flame turned violet. But something happened to him as well. He grew to nearly ten feet, his eyes became molten orbs of gold, a golden light emanated from him and he sprouted wings, feathers like peacocks. He finished sweeping the field and turned to look at her. A look of knowing love and giving, then there was a flash. Suddenly he was her Edward again, falling to his knees, comatose.
Tasha ran to him. Coughing a little. Her eyes watering. "Edward!" She held him in her arms.

He lay in her arms cold and unconscious, almost as if merely in a deep deep sleep.
Tasha had help taking him back home. She laid in the bed with him as he was placed there.
He continued on unconscious. It was evident by the next morning he was unlikely to come out of it on his own anytime soon.
Tasha woke. Coughing. Wheezing. She had a slight bit of spores inhaled. She kissed his lips. Slowly removing his clothes as she went to restore his aethor.
His body responded to her and ever so slightly his color bettered and his skin warmed.
Finally, after what seemed hours, his eyes flicker open and he looked at her and asked, “Is it done my love, are our people safe?”
Tasha nodded softly. "They're safe, 'sug..." her voice soft. She collapsed onto him. There was a voice behind them. Sammie stood there in nothing but a sheet. "My Lady.you need rest. I'll take over."
He looked at Sammie and back to Tasha. He put one arm around his wife and held a hand out for Sammie to take. He kissed Tasha and fell back into unconsciousness.
It was Sammie's turn now. Tasha rested beside them as Sammie helped.
He woke on and off intermittently asking after the people and reassuring Tasha of his love and thanking Sammie. Asking where Roon was and begging she not find out.
When Sammie tired Tasha took over. They kept switching. "Katherine has her 'sug....we won't be disturbed. I made ...made sure of it..."
After days, he was finally able to stay awake for short periods of time and take food. He was weak but tried to carry on normal conversations, always coming back to the welfare of his people, that Roon be protected, worrying about Katherine finding out and abjectly apologizing for putting them in this situation.
Tasha stayed beside him the entire time. Sending Sammie out to check on Roon and everyone else. Giving reports back.
After a couple more weeks he was able to stand and walk and get around on his own. He started taking meals with them in the parlor and allowing Roon in for the meals and a short visit at least. He spoke guardedly to his sister and deflected questions about what happened. He praised the care his wife and Sammie were giving him and begged everyone to not worry about him.
As soon as he was stable, she slept for a long time. She didn't sleep a lot till she knew he was ok. She trusted Sammie to help him. She slept for three days straight.

As soon as he was stable, she slept for a long time. She didn't sleep a lot till she knew he was ok. She trusted Sammie to help him. She slept for three days straight.
Except for when dragged away for more “treatments” he remained at Tasha's side. He held her as often as possible. He was still weak and still needed a near constant replenishment of aethor.
Sammie was just as diligent. On the morning of the fourth day. Tasha awoke. Her body stiff from such a deep sleep.
He took her in his arms and kissed her deeply to take her stiffness and discomfort. It was the first real passion in weeks, since his collapse.
Tasha returned the kiss. "Edward...you're okay..." her voice cracked as she cupped his cheek.
He snorted, “Well, there never was really much danger of me dying. Being comatose for a couple decades or so? Yeah that was a possibility, but some how I didn't figure I'd have to worry about it. I just had to remove the threat to our people.”
Tasha pushed him hard. Wincing slightly as she only ended up hurting herself. "You worried me sick I thought...I thought I was going to lose you!" She shouted.
His jaw dropped. “What? Was I withered and desiccated? Did it get that far?”
Tasha nodded some moving up some. "Yes. You collapsed and been out for weeks...Sammie and I took turns. When I grew tired she helped. She's been taking care of Roon....
Shaking his head, “Wait you said I just passed out, but before that you said you were afraid you'd loose me. Which was it, did I look like a prune or was I just out cold?”
Tasha sighed looking to him. "You were out cold....I still thought."
Nodding he almost seemed to dismiss the matter, “Well there you have it then. I wasn't withered so I was not really in much danger of death.” Looking to Sammie he continued, “You have been invaluable in this awkward situation and taken on a duty I had thought to spare you of. Tell me what you want. Anything within my power and its yours.” Without hesitating or thinking she said, “I want to be Lady Natasha's Lady's maid.” Looking between the two of them he remembered the disagreement the night before the purging. He said, “I'm not sure that's such a good idea....”
Tasha looked to him. How can he dismiss what happened. A tear dripped down her cheek. "'Sug...." she looked as Sammie came in. Smiled or at least tried to, as she spoke her interest in being her lady's maid. She nodded. "Then it is so".
Not wanting to provoke an argument he said “So be it, move to one of the guest rooms here in our suites and what do you think about moving Maggie up to being Katherine's Lady's Maid?” Looking over to his wife and wiping her tear away with his thumb and grunted, “Love of my life and star of my heart, do you still not understand? I am the Lord here and I owe my people all, even my life if needed.”
Tasha looked to him. "I know but I can't help but worry sick over you..."
He shook his head, “Why?” He looked utterly confused and uncomfortable. Looking to Sammie he said thoughtfully, “Lady's Maid? No, I think we will give you a small holding with a title and you will be Natasha's Lady in Waiting instead.”
Tasha blinked. "I love you, Edward. I can't help but to worry about you.."
Mouth dropping open and blinking several times he slowly responded, “No, wife. I am the damned near invulnerable one. I am the Lord. I worry about others and protect them. They do not worry about me.”
Tasha traced his features. "Well...I do. I thought I lost you....I..." held him close, shaking softly as she held back the tears.
Still looking stunned, he looked at her and away to anything else and his eyes landed on Sammie, who had finally just taken a seat on the edge of the bed. Clearly trying to change the subject he asked; “So what do you think of giving Sammie, here a small holding so she will be you Lady in Waiting rather than Maid?”
Tasha sighed...letting it finally drop. "That...sounds fine..."
Finally on firmer ground he said reflexively, “We'll have to come up with a family name for her. Any suggestions? And how did this,” motioning between the two of them, “come about. Last clear memory I have you were not …. so close.”
Tasha looked to her then to him. "I explained to her how you are...what you are. She understood how and why I am so protective....and when you collapsed...." her voice broke...
Nodding he looked over to Sammie, “And you? How do you feel about all this? I always wanted you to be completely free to come and go as you would. Do you still have that? Would you do anything differently than what we are discussing?”

Tasha smiled. Turning to listen to Sammie.
Looking down at the floor she thought for a moment then looked up to the both of them she began, “My Lord, I understand why you would be concerned about that. Honestly, if it were any other person or any other situation, I probably would feel trapped. I have always taken a certain pride, felt a certain honor in serving you in that way.” She gulped, “When the Lady Natasha came I knew that part of our relationship was over. I was happy for you, you understand, but I still knew I would miss having a special relationship with you.” Looking directly at Tasha she continued, “As long as her Ladyship will have me, I will still be honored to serve. I think that over the last weeks we have developed a friendship, a .. a sisterhood of a kind, but I may be wrong in that.” Looking back to him she said, “I choose this my Lord. I want this my Lord.' Edward looked at her with a new found respect, “Edward” he said. “My name is Edward.”
Tasha smiled Nd nodded. "I would love to have you."
“Now, I have an idea which holding to give you, though I would understand if you want to let it remain fallow. What we need is a last name for you.” Looking to Tasha he asked, “Any ideas?”
Tasha shook her head. "I don't know. What would you like Sammie?"
She looked at them and shook her head and thought again. Finally she had an inspiration. My Lady, what was your last name before you married my...Edward?”
Tasha smiled"Bloodsmire"
Sammie looked surprised, “Bloodsmire?” Sammie thoughtfully nodded. “If her Ladyship doesn't mind....”
Tasha smiled"I'll be happy to."
Sammie rushed to Tasha with tears in her eyes.
Tasha laughed hugging her tightly.
Edward laughed and took both of them in a hug, one in each arm. “This is going to get complicated quick isn't it?”
Tasha laughed. "No...just easier.."
With a mischievous smirk on his face he looks from one to the other and asks, tongue in cheek, “Whose turn is it?”
Tasha smirked softly as she looked at Sammie. Sammie and her exchange knowing looks. They turned to look at him at once and both said at the same time. "Both of us..."
He looked at them with a moment of shock then a smug expression and rejoined, 'My but we're getting adventurous. Aren't we?”
Tasha kissed him deeply. Sammie just looked on bright red.
Grabbing Tasha around the waist and Sammie's hand the growls, “Your wish is my command.” As he falls back into the bed with her and pulls Sammie on top of them. He smiled and laughed heartily. The looked at them and said, “No but seriously, what do you ladies want to do now?”
Tasha laughed as she was pulled. "I don't know 'sug...." Sammie laughed. "I'll be fine...I have things to do..." she bowed and took her leave. Tasha smiled. "Bout time she took a break.

He looked up at her and nodded. “When she first came here, well, I had had these rooms all to myself for so long, there were innumerable incidents. Dolls, clothes, toys and once she was scared can came running to crawl in bed with me, with her knife.” He shook his head. “If I were a normal man I don't think I would have survived.”
He shrugged, “She'll get as much up as she can and the staff will do the rest.” Looking wicked, “Speaking of the staff, why exactly would a clothing free space traumatize them? In case you haven't noticed, they are almost all female anyway.”
Tasha chuckled kissing his lips softly. "You don't understand sarcasm do you...."
He smirked and said, “Done then. From now on, this suite is a clothing free environment.”
Tasha chuckled softly. "Maybe for you but I'll dress sometimes." She nipped his neck.
He arched and eyebrow at her, “Does a Lord's word no longer have any sway in his own Manor?”
Tasha grinned softly. "Yes but you can't expect that the no clothing rule will last. " She sat up.
“Oh?” he asked, dead pan serious now.
Tasha nodded as she looked to him. "'Sug, eventually Roon is going to not want to see her parents naked and she would want to wear clothing. And we can't expect the staff to do the same.
Looking her dead in the eyes he bellowed, “Roon, Sammie to me.” After a few moments they arrived and he said; “Roon, given your and my disinclination to clothing and their, at least occasional, nonchalance about it, I am decreeing our suite a clothing free area. Clothing is only acceptable coming in or going out. No other time.”
Looking at her his face becoming a thunderhead and his voice taking on iron, 'Its an affection, a custom only, follow THEIR customs outside those doors and mine inside.”
Tasha got up from the bed. She moved to dress herself. "You don't need to yell at me. You can't have a new custom made overnight. " She was pissed now. Now dressed. "I'll be on the Rose if you need me.." she left. Slamming the door behind her.

As she started heading to the Rose she noticed a storm brewing over Roseshire and it looks to be a bad one. He never not came to seek her out.
Tasha, the wind whipped her hair. She continued on. Rousing her crew...only a few of them was needed "Arise me crew. Time to hoist the mainsail. Let's stretch her legs!" They didn't argue with her about the storm. "Aye aye" they were happy to be back to sea, for a short time. "Raise anchor! Unhitch her from the dock. Hard to port...let's go!" She helped the small crew do the stuff. Soon they were sailing out to sea. The water choppy. Rough.
The storm continued to worsen, eventually becoming a full force gale.
Waves washed over the deck. The crew scrambled to secure the rigging. The ship rocked hard. She kept going they were several leagues out into sea now. Roseshire still within sight in the distance. "Captain...she's taking on water below. " She nodded. "Patch up what you can mateys...she's just having a fit in this storm. We've seen worse.." a wave rolled over the deck. Sweeping her off the deck and into the sea. "MAN OVERBOARD!"

Edward had put on a pleasant face and was going over a reading lesson with Roon, both nude, and he completely unaware of the storm or the incident on the Rose.
The crew immediately look over the railing. Trying to find their captain. The waters were so choppy they couldn't see her. "She's lost.... Davy Jones has her....let's...head back. " Said her second mate. They turned back to the harbor. Under the waves she was tossing and turning. Fighting to come back to the surface. She could hold her breath for a long time but even now her lungs burned. This was just like the dream she had. The nightmare. The last thing she remembers was almost reaching the surface when she blacked out.
When a messenger finally reached him, he stood immediately and ran down to the docks. Not bothering to dress, merely calling clouds to cover his body. Seeing the storm he immediately dismissed it and reaching the docks he demanded a dead reckoning of where she was lost. He looked at the water of the bay. It was an obscene amount of water. He didn't even know if he could move it. His wife needed him. He shook off any self doubt and put all his strength into dividing the waters to create a path to her. His concentration grew so great and he strained so much the clouds covering him vanished and for the second time in his life he transformed. He took to the wing and flew to his wife.

The crew was somber. They told him the exact coordinates she went overboard. "Shes gone. Davy Jones has her now." The second mate told him as he rushed to find her. At the spot, if he moved the waters, he wouldn't find her where she sank.
He continued to fly around, dividing he waters before him as he went, searching for her.
He was growing desperate. In this form he could feel the power. In this form he knew he could bring the dead back with merely a touch. He also knew equally as well that he had not been restored to even a single man's measure of aethor and his time in this form was quickly running out. He would revert and fall back into coma or perhaps this time he would die. He'd read about this. It was a Nephilim's last ditch act of desperation.
Something took her to an island. But what? She laid there, partly in the water as waves lapped at her legs. She wasn't moving. How did she end up on his island so fast from where she was? Edward would be able to see the island just out of sight of Roseshire.
Seeing the island in the distance in a last desperate push of hope he flew toward it. When he saw Tasha. He landed immediately and took his wife in his arms. She could feel the healing energy flowing from him into her, like electricity. He said softly, “Please speak well of me to our son.” Then reverted into a coma.

Tasha coughed up water at his touch. Her form rested against his arms. Although he healed her, she remained asleep in his arms. A scouting party eventually found them. Bringing them both back to Roseshire. Sammie rushed to them and immediately tended to Edward. Even pulling a few girls in to help restore him. Although they weren't sure why and how that would heal him. Tasha was placed beside him. Still not having awaken.
Days pass, but as they now knew how to treat him, his body was not given a moments rest. Around the clock there is always someone attending him.
Tasha remained by his side. She still didn't wake. Doctors were unsure how to help her as she was healthy thanks to Edward's healing.
In a much shorter time he was restored, but still kept a regular schedule with Sammie. He did not want to be caught unawares like this again. With that single exception and the private time he gave to Roon each evening he was constantly by her side.
Tasha some days later she awoke with a gasp...her body felt fine. Healthy. She was unaware on how they ended up here..she blinked looking at her hands
She saw there were three of them together, her, Edward and Roon. They were asleep and still naked as J birds, then she noticed, so was she.
Tasha grunted softly as she sat up. Her fingers traced along Edward's features lovingly . He was here..she was here. "Is this Heaven? Did I truly get claimed.." she murmured to herself before she felt it...a wave of nausea hit her. She got up quickly from the bed and barely made it to the bathroom
The noise of her sickness woke him and kissing Roon on the cheek, he went to her and held her hair back and then held her, slipping to the floor with her on his lap. He just stared into her eyes.
Tasha trembled I'm his arms as she finished "Am...I dead?" She spoke softly looking to him. "Last thing I remember I saw the boat leave while under the water...I tried...."
He shook his head and said, “No my love, we are very much alive.” He then explained everything that had happened. Her falling overboard, his hearing about it, his transformation, what caused it. Finally he looked into her eyes and told her about their son and how he did not think he would survive but wanted to do that much before he died. When he finished he still looked deeply into her eyes.

Tasha eyes widened. Silent during the entire story. When he told her of the child...she felt her hand rest on her stomach. "Our..son..." she smiled softly. "I am so sorry for fighting with you...I..." she began to apologize.
He placed a finger on her lips. He said, “I am sorry that it came to that. But I cannot now revoke my degree. It would be improper for a Lord to be seen as being variable. I'm sorry. I do believe, deep down in my very soul that clothing is a worthless affection, but know others buy the lie of decency. I am also sorry about the storm. You have to know I was completely unaware of it. It seems now, after the transformation, my feelings are more directly tied to the elements.
Tasha listened to him as he spoke. "Edward..." she curled onto him. "We were both wrong...."
He hugged her close and kissed her brow, but did not answer her statement.
Tasha sat in his arms on the floor of the bathroom. She said nothing as she enjoyed feeling him hold her.
He quietly picked her up and carried her back to their room and laid her beside Roon. He then walked out of the room and went to sit looking into the fire in the parlor's fireplace.

Sammie was doing chores as she noticed Edward sitting there. She had folded up blankets and sheets in her hands. "Copper for your thoughts?"
Looking up he smiled. “Sammie, you've had almost two full weeks now with my new clothes free rule here in our suites. Tell what do you think of it?”
She thought about it for a moment. "It's alright. Less mess for me to launder when I wash my own clothes. But sometimes pockets are necessary..." she looked to him. "It takes me longer to get some things done because I have to dress and redress to go to other parts of the manor"
He nodded considering. Then asked, “Sammie, in some places sailors are heavily tattooed and wear earrings.” He flicked his own ear studs. “They go barefoot and train their children to be sailors from before Roon's age. Tell me, are they wrong for their beliefs and customs?”
Tasha shook her head. Sammie placed the blankets down. "No. They're not. But that's their own beliefs and customs."
“And the lands that are ruled by clans rather than lords? Are they wrong?”
Sammie shook her head. "No."
He nodded. “So I have always believed. Each person has to choose his own customs and moral code. So then, is it wrong for me to want to live by my own deeply held personal beliefs? To want to have at least a small place that I can stop lying by submitting to other's beliefs of right and wrong? Is is wrong for me to want that in my own home?”
She looked confused "No it's not wrong.... Edward...is everything okay?" She asked softly.
He looked up at her and just shook his head and said, 'No, I just wanted to know my thinking was sound. Thank you.” He returned his gaze to the fire, with a forlorn look on his face.
Sammie laid her hand upon his arm. "Edward..." she looked concerned.
He looked up at her again. “I think I may have to do something I have never done before and go back on my own word and worse do something that I genuinely believe is wrong and offensive to whatever powers created us.” Shaking his head he looked back to the fire and said. “No. I am, will be fine. Go see to Tasha. She just woke and learned she's with our son.”
Sammie nodded. "As you wish." She placed a kiss upon his brow. And went to do as told.

He continued to sit and stare into the fire. Who could tell how long? Minutes? Hours? Who knew, but he sat and thought, still as a statue.
Tasha came to him. Her hand resting on his shoulder"'Sug?" Her voice soft
Without looking up he placed his hand on hers and said, “Yes my love?”
"I am sorry 'sug...I...was unaware how I was hurting you...." her voice quiet. She looked to him as she stood beside him.
He pulled her into his lap, kissed her and placed a hand over her womb. “Would you like me to tell about our son?”
Tasha kissed him back. laying her head upon his chest as he held her. Her hand resting over his "yes..." her voice was soft still.
Sighing he started, “His hair will be like mine but curlier and he will have green eyes. His skin will be the color of a light mocha. He will stand six foot when full grown. He will have you frame but my musculature. He will be smart, so smart.” He looked down to her and smiled.
Tasha had tears in her eyes as she heard about their son. So safe in the womb. Still just a mass of cells. She smiled.
“I'm sorry my love, I just now remembered you saying you wanted it to be a surprise.” He sighed, “Too I am sorry that we have fought so hard over this one thing. I truly do not comprehend your problem with it, but if you really want me to I will amend my degree. I don't want to fight with you anymore.”
Tasha smiled. "It's okay. Our son sounds like he will he a handsome boy." She shook her head. Moving to cup his cheek. "'Sug...dont change things just because we disagree. "
He sighed a sigh of relief, looking into her eyes, “Are you certain, tesoro mio/”
Tasha nodded softly. "Yes I am certain. " She kissed his lips
He returned her kiss and sat there contentedly holding her, when Katherine came in. She was beat red and looked away immediately. “So it is true. Edward how could you? Where is you upbringing and sense of decency?” He looked at her and said softly, “Hello sister. How are you today?” She still refused to look at him.

Patting Tasha on the bottom he stood and walked over to his sister, forcing her to look at him and took her hands. “My beautiful and pure sister. Did we not swim together as children? When you were in shock coming home, was it not I who bathed you and kept your hygiene? I know that both times I was brought back, it was you with my wife and Sammie that stripped my body and helped them clean me. My sister, I know you disagree, but I believe with every part of my being that clothing is an offense to the gods, telling them what they have made is shameful and evil and must be hidden away. I believe it is outright sacrilegious and verging on sinful. From now on I will follow m own beliefs, if only at least in the privacy of my own rooms.” He looked at her to answer.
Tasha got up then sat down as he went to her. Katherine blinked softly, blushing red in the face. Still trying not to look at him. "That was different. Children are different and when tending to the ill is different. When healthy...one should always...."
He continued holding her hands, “I believe differently, Kitty Kat. In my soul I KNOW that clothing is an offense to the gods. I will follow the worlds customs in the world. But in my own rooms, I will live as my conscience tells me I must.”
Katherine sighed. Always a sucker for his pet name of her. "Eddie...you may do as you like. But I will remain clothed anywhere I go. It's...just not what I believe in..." she held his hands but still avoided looking to him.
A break entering his voice, “Then, my beloved big sister. We will have to meet when and where we will, for it pains me to say it will no longer be in my rooms.”
Katherine's eyes widen as she finally looked to him. "Eddie...." tears in her eyes as Tasha stood. "Edward. She's your sister. You can't just...."
“She is my favorite sister and my most loved. I finally know the conviction of my heart and I cannot now deny it anymore. My degree stands. Do as you wish anywhere else, but here you will follow my customs, just I do anywhere that I visit, or you will not come here.”
Katherine nodded. "As you wish... Brother.." her voice was solemn as she left. Tasha sighed softly
He dropped his hands to his side and dropped his head to his chest. It was almost softer than a whisper and she barely caught, “I hoped she be the one who might understand me.”
Tasha wrapped her arms around him.
He hugged her back absently and sat back down to watch the fire. She would learn later a soft rain had started that afternoon.
Tasha curled into his arms. Sometime short after she dozed off in his arms
He remained like that long into the night. Holding her in his arms and eyes held by the fire.
Tasha groaned in her sleep. Eyes flickering under lids as she dreamed.
Late, Sammie came in and shook both of them. “Edward, Natasha, ti's after midnight. You should come to bed.”
Tasha whimpered lightly.."No..." she was still asleep.
He picked her up and carried her to their bed. He laid her down and laid on his side next to her. He patted the bed behind himself and started without preamble. ”She gets like this sometimes, when she dreams. Surprisingly, my kiss does not completely remove enough tiredness and fatigue. It's not natural, I tell you.” Looking back at Sammie he just started talking. About their son, their future. What he was and what it meant. He talked and talked and fell too sleep talking.
They all fall asleep in the same bed.
When they woke in the morning they were one body deeper. She said sleepily “You guys always try to leave me out of the family sleep ins.”
Tasha moved stiffly. Her head pounded. "Sorry 'sug..”
He sighed and got up and started dressing.
Tasha looked up to him. "Edward? What are you doing?"
He snorted, “Going down to breakfast. I know I usually have it up here with you ladies, but I've not been seen in a long time. I need to be seen.”
Tasha nodded softly as she got up and began to get dressed. "I'll go"
He reached his hand out to her. Sammie got up and started dressing. They left Roon to snuggle down into the covers.
Tasha dressed in a light fitting top and a skirt. Tight fighting clothing was already uncomfortable. She took his hand.
He took her hand and looked lovingly into her eyes. “I love you, Lady Roseshire.”
Tasha looked back. Already glowing. "And I love you."

Later that afternoon
She over heard one of the maids telling one of the houseboys that she had heard her father say that a sailor down at the tavern said they found caves on the isle the Lady was supposedly found on.
Tasha paused softly hearing the maid. "Wait...what did you say? Someone found the Lady of the Isle?"
The houseboy fled and the maid jumped and looking abashed to be found gossiping on the job was bright red. She curtsied, “N..no my Lady. They found caves and the isle they say you were found on by his Lordship.”
Tasha smiled softly. "No it's okay..." she bit her lip softly before turning back to the suites. Not undressing as she went in and started to pack some supplies in a bag. Excitement in her eyes.
Edward heard her come into the suite and came from his study and followed her to their room. Eyes growing round when he saw her. “What's happened? Why are you leaving?”
Tasha kept running around. Grabbing things and putting it into her bag. "I overheard a maid and a boy talking about a sailor finding the Lady of the Isle on the island you found me on...." she was excited
He shook his head. “No, no Lady of the Isle, whatever that is, just some caves.” A stern looking coming across his face, “And you thought you were going?”
Tasha blinked some looking to him. "Yes..."
Eyes narrowed, “Carrying our son?”
Tasha blinked softly as her hand lowers to her stomach.."I got so excited...I forgot..." she sighed looking defeated.
He shook his head and looked conflicted for a moment then said. “No, we'll go in a day on the Empress. She's a bigger ship and will be more stable in the water. We'll make it a family outing and take Roon and Sammie. We can even invite my sister. But most importantly I will be there to stand between the two of you and danger and to heal you if things go sideways.”
Tasha looked to him. "On the Empress?" She placed the item into the bag slowly.
He looked at her funnily, 'Yes the Empress' Revenge. My ship. She may be a bigger than you are used to, but I am guessing you are wearing you big girl panties.”
Tasha chuckled "yes of course..." she moved to him.
He took her in his arms and growled down in her ear with no little amount of heat. “Then let's see about getting you out of them till tomorrow.”
Tasha raked her nails down his back. "Mm yes...you can try..."
He commenced to rip her clothes off, what the hell he could buy more, and remind her just what it was that caused her to see him so differently to begin with.

Tasha laid in his arms afterwords. Breathing heavily.
He sighted contentedly and said, “There's something else I should tell you about that day I healed you and gave you our son.”
Tasha fluttered open her eyes "what?"
He exhaled, “The amount of life that I pushed into you, It will have other affects. You are immune to poison and disease now, forever. Decades, maybe as much as a century has been added to you life span. There maybe be other more minor changes but they will only show in time.”
Tasha blinked. Nodding..."When I was sinking...I was reminded of my nightmare"
“Was all of what you saw in your nightmare fulfilled? Or do we have more to come?”
Tasha shook her head.."I don't know...I had another last night...." her breath shook.
He held her tighter, “Tell me about it?”
Tasha closed her eyes "someone takes our son...."
He looked off into the distance and said, “That would be and unfortunate decision by whoever could be stupid enough to make such a mistake.”
Tasha held him tighter. "The details...are hazy. I don't know which age he is or if someone succeeded...."
He kissed her brow, “We will be wary and hire guards and spies to gather word of anyone who might want to move against us.”
Tasha nodded softly. Glancing down to her still flat stomach. "Such a wonder... He doesn't have a care in the world. Safe. Warm...secure...." her fingertips grazed along the skin.
Edward bent over her and kissed the skin of her belly. “Hey boy, do yourself a favor and stay in there as long as you can. Its a cold cruel world out here.” He looked up and considered, “Well, we already know so much about him. We just don't know his name yet. What's his name?”
Tasha smiled, watching him as he spoke to their son through her womb. "A name? I'm not sure....we have nine months to come up with one. What would you like our son to be named?"
He smiled and shrugged and said, “Maybe we should ask Roon's opinion....” he smirked at her.
Tasha chuckled softly "I bet she would have some ideas on what to name her brother." Her fingers trailed through his hair.
He ran his fingertips whisper soft over her ribs and breasts.
Tasha shivered from his touch. Her mouth opened softly as she breathed out.

The door opened softly just a crack as someone peaked in.
He looked over expecting to see Sammie. Somehow it seemed right the whole family being together.
It wasn't Sammie...it was Katherine. The door closed as she walked away from the room. She believed they were asleep.
Kissing each of his girls on the temple and pulling a sheet over them, he got up and followed after his sister.
She didn't hear him. She wasn't clothed, although she looked uncomfortable...
He hurried after her to catch her before she left their suite.
Katherine paused hearing him. Turning but adverting her gaze. Her arms over herself. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to wake you.”
He didn't say a word right away. He simply embraced her and took her hands leading her to his private study to sit together on his chaise lounge like had they always done.
Katherine sat on the chaise lounge with him. "Eddie...I'm sorry..." she was scarlet red. Trembling.
Holding each of her hands in his he kissed the backs of them and tried at least one more time to explain. “Katherine, look into my eyes. When I look at you, do you see any lust or avarice? Any at all my sister?”
Katherine looked to him. "No..."
“No you do not. If anything you will see more awe and joy as I rejoice in seeing the masterwork the gods have brushed in creating you.” He sighed. “They are artist, after a fashion, and we are the pinnacle of their art. Would you go through the Manor and start covering the works of the great masters we have here?”
She sighed. "I...just don't understand..." she looked down. "I don't want to fight...or loose you, brother.”
He sighed and tried again. “The clothes we put on are the very first lie we are taught to tell. We are not just taught that our precious and wondrous gift from the gods, our bodies, are shameful and wicked and must be hidden. We are taught to lie through what we wear. To present one image to one person and another image to another. I have come to believe that it is vital to, in some part of one's life, strip away all the lies and be who we really are underneath all the deceptions.”
Katherine nodded "I know, Eddie..." she straightened his hair and beard. "
He looked at her a little sadly, “Oh Katherine, my dear sweet Katherine, you still don't understand do you.” He hung his head and hunched over. “Maybe its my fault you cannot understand me. Maybe its because you do not know what I am, truly. Who I am.”
She sighed softly as she took her brother in her arms in a hug. "I may not fully understand you. But we're family. I support whatever you do."
He looked at her long and hard. He looked at her so long he knew it was making her uncomfortable, then finally nodding to himself he just started. He went back to when he rescued her and she saw some of his powers. They had never spoken of it before, but he did now. He told her everything. He told what he was, his control of the elements, his ability to heal and how. That it cost him life energy to do so and how is energies were restored. He told her about the plague and why the women now expected him at the Bloodings. They, not only kept his secret, they felt closer to him than any Lord Roseshire ever. He told her how he and Tasha met. He explained how he had spent too much aethor retrieving her (an experience of Tasha's she herself could certainly relate to). He told her of how Tasha offered to renew him and at first he was hesitant. He explained how they came together and how they became engaged, almost on a dare. He explained about the quake and helping the village and his subsequent oath. He continued talking, a final purge, everything he had been holding back from her. He told her about the girl in the village and why he was finally compelled to break his oath. He told her about his transformation and how it had drained him and Tasha and Sammie tended him and healed him. He spoke of an argument with Tasha before she was washed over board. How he transformed again and found her. His resulting coma and the steps taken to heal him quickly. He told her about their son that Tasha was not carrying. How he had given him to Tasha, largely because he had not expected to survive. What he would look like. He told her of his final epiphany, that his conscience was just as valid as anyones and his resolution to live as much by his own conscience now as possible, despite all else. Finally he told her how much he loved her and was grateful she came to him tonight and though she didn't understand his new conviction of conscience, still she tried. He told her how when he had asked if they had done anything to her while she was held captive, it was not because he was ashamed for her lost honor as he knew she had believed all these years. He had looked away because he feared he may have to heal her. He looked her directly in the eyes and told he absolutely would heal her if anything ever happened to her. What was the good of being Nephilim if he could not heal and protect those he loved. He had talked all through the night and well into the morning. Now finished, he feared her reaction and yet he felt somehow relieved to have finally admitted all to one of the four women he loved more any dream could conjure. He still feared her reaction. For the first time in his life he prayed. He prayed that she would not be repulsed and reject him again.
Katherine listened in silence. She blinked. Tears in her eyes. She now knew. She didn't say anything but just drew him close.
He felt emotionally exhausted and shuddered in her arms whispering in her ear over and over, “I love you Kitty Kat, I love you.”
Tears feel silently as she held him tightly. "I love you Eddie....I'm so..so sorry...I didn't know.."
He sighed and said, “You were always the best part of me. You have always been the last innocent part of me. I wanted to protect you from all this.”
Katherine nodded softly. "I know baby brother. But now I know and understand. You have a gift..." she paused as she looked to the door. Tasha stood there, she rubbed her eyes, looking tired. "'Sug? Everything okay?" Katherine blushed and looked away from Tasha's nude form.

A look of utter contentedness and bliss washed over his face when he saw Tasha. He reached his hand out to her to pull her into his lap. “No, tesoro mio, my sister and I have just had a very long talk. She may have questions for us. She may even want to fuss over you.”
Tasha chuckled softly as she curled into his lap. Her breath shuttered. "Yeah...but could it wait till morning...or afternoon...." despite her sleeping a lot lately, she still felt tired.
He barked a laugh. “Natasha Teach Roseshire, its already mid morning. Katherine and I have, it seems talked through all of the night.”
Tasha yawned widely. "Yeah well I'm still tired..."
He picked Tasha up and motioned with his head for Katherine to follow as he carried her back to bed. Upon entering he saw sometime during the night Sammie had come in and curled up too. Something between a snort and a laugh escaped him. With a tear in his eye and a catch in his voice he said, “All my most beloved here, together, sharing comfort and warmth.” He laid Tasha down and sat, reaching his hand out to Katherine. “I know you must be tired, join us sister. Rest in the comfort of our family nap.”
Tasha yawned wide as she curled up. Katherine hesitated. "As late as I have stayed up.... unfortunately I can't....someone has to run the manor while you sleep with your girls." She smirked softly almost in a teasing manor.
He snorted dismissively, “They'll figure it out. Rosehire has stood nearly 1000 years, I think she can manage a few hours. Besides..” he grinned wickedly, “one of the benefits of my new policy in my suites and the prudishness here abouts, at least we know they won't come bother us unless its very very important. I can see the wariness in your eyes, come rest. Be part of the dog pile.” Smiling, “Don't worry, I remember your elbows from when we were small.”
Katherine blushed as she conceded. She laid down with them. But it wasn't long until Roon awoke. She jumped on the bed near Tasha. "Come-on! It's morning! Time to get up!" She laughed. Tasha winced some. The bouncing of the bed not helping the early stages of her pregnancy. "Easy baby...." she whimpered lightly.
Edward snorted and snaked his arm out, yanking Roon down and wedging her between himself and Katherine the said, “Lay back down for a little while, sweetheart, most of us had a very late night.” Turning to look Tasha in the eye she said nothing, just kissed her to ease her discomfort.
Roon blinked. "But I don't want to lay down. I want to play! It's morning!" The kiss helped Tasha as she relaxed, and the amount of green disappeared from her features.
Shaking his head, “Roon, if you just give us a little while, when we sail for the island later, you can pilot the Empress. Ok?”
Roon gasped. "Really?! I'm gonna get ready right now!" She got up and ran to her room. Tasha chuckled softly "Already a great father..."
Grumbling he got out of bed and stalked out of the room.

Roon was scrambling about her room. Making such a mess as she packed her bags full of lots of her toys. "Can't forget Princess Unicornpants....or my teddy bear..." she rambled on.
Laughing he said, “Child we will only begone for an afternoon, maybe, maybe one night. Get dressed and go down to the practice yard. We can't leave till the others wake and are ready to go.”
Roon nodded softly. "But my toys want to go too..." she blinked. "I have to get dressed?" She looked at him confused. "Can't I just go like this?"
Snorting, “Well as much as my and your mother's horse might like to go, they can't. Not everybody can. And you know very well that we dress when we leave the our rooms. Others are not as enlightened as we are and we have to accommodate their limitations.”
She laughed as she nodded. "Okay...." she moved to dress.
Turning back to his room to dress he says over his shoulder, “And don't forget your rapier. Again.”
As he passed by the bathroom he would hear the water running in the bathtub.
He stepped and leaned back against the wall.
The tub was filling up as Tasha's arms was curled around the toilet. Her head resting on her arms.
He knelt behind her and wrapped his arms around her. He kissed her, not caring about the vomitous. He would just burn it away from himself anyway.
Tasha whimpered softly as he took her into his arms. The kiss made her relax, the feeling of sickness left. "I have never felt this sick before 'Sug...."
He nodded and picked her up, walking to the tub, sat down in it with in his lap. Silently, still, he began to wash her.
Tasha noticed his silence. "What's wrong 'sug?" She cupped his cheek.
A soft sigh escaped him, “Nothing my love, I am just enjoying having you here in my arms. Being able to take care of you. Its … Its.... It feels somehow....sacred to me.”
Tasha smiled as she looked to him. "Edward...." she kissed his lips softly.
In a sort of sing song voice he almost hums, “Yes my love?”
Tasha smiled "Nothing...I just so love you right now..."
Holding her to himself now that he had her clean, he breathed in the smell of her. He kissed her again, a lingering loving kiss with just a hint of the frustration of passion delayed. He eased her off himself and stood. “I need to get down to Roon for practice before she decides we aren't coming and tries to commandeer the Empress.” Snorting he chuckled just picturing it.
Tasha kissed him back. "Alright"

He left their rooms but didn't go directly to the practice grounds, rather headed to Katherine's rooms to find Maggie. He told her he wanted to organize a network of eyes and ears and asked if she could manage it. He gave her several large pouches of gold and then left to search for Alfred. He talked to Alfred about the need to find reliable and an extremely skillful handful of assassins who wanted to settle down and live a more sedate life. He said they were to follow Roon, Tasha and Katherine covertly and NOT be noticed by anyone especially them. Having set his plans into motion he then joined Roon on the training ground where she was wistfully practicing against a training dummy.
Tasha was dressed. Moving down the stairs slowly as she took her time. She paused halfway down and closed her eyes for a moment.
Sammie followed behind, now fully back into her duties of Lady in Waiting to Tasha. She reached her hand out to her shoulder. “My Lady, is everything alright?”
Tasha nodded softly..."Aye...just a little cramping...." she exhaled softly. "Nothing to worry about." She smiled softly.
Sammie looked at her. She didn't know much about this, but she remember her short pregnancy and she knew what Edward's healing were like. This WAS NOT supposed to be happening. She audibly gulped. “If you say so My Lady.”
Tasha smiled weakly as she continued down the stairs. Heading to the place where Roon and Edward was practicing.
She found them stripped to the waist and Roon had what looked like a badge wrapped around her chest. They were practicing hand to hand combat, particularly throws and arm bars and blocks. Looking closer she heard his instructions. He was also teaching her pressure points along the way.
Tasha smiled sitting down on a bench in the shade to watch them.
She saw little Roon throw Edward several times he beamed down on her with such pride. Finally mussing her hair he called the session finished. He started putting his shirt on and Roon started unwrapping the wrap, holding her shirt in the other hand.
Tasha clapped for them. "That was well done"
He smiled boyishly at her and walked over picking her up into an embrace and kiss.
Tasha kissed him back "mmm"
Looking her up and down he suddenly snatched her close and kissed her again.
Tasha chuckled. Kissing him back. "What's this all about?"
Laughing, he said, “I love you, that's what this is all about.”
Tasha smiled holding him "I love you too".
Reaching down he took Roon and put her up on his shoulders and took Tasha's and Sammie's hand in his and started off toward the docks. “So you girls up to some adventure on the high seas?”
Tasha walked along with him. "Yes. You know me 'sug...i can't wait.." Roon was cheering.
As they approached the Empress' Revenge, Tasha looked, really looked for the first time. Compared to her sloop, the frigate was a monster. The Rose had two masts but the Empress was a tri-mast with an added jiggermast and two jibs. She had 40 gun, the Briar had 10. She was a behemoth. Tasha did not expect to feel the sea beneath her much on this trip, unless a storm picked up. And with Edward along, that was unlikely.
Tasha gasped seeing the ship. "Wow 'sug...." she whistled.
There was a certain pride in his eyes as they boarded. “Capt'n Rollins!” He bellowed, “While on the Empress, just I supersede you as captain, my wife, the captain of the Briar Rose supersedes you as well. So, on this journey, I am captain, she 1st mate and you 2nd mate. Understood?” He left no doubt that it was to be understood, loved and lived or they could go elsewhere. Turning to her he asked, “Want to take her out, my love?”
Tasha grinned softly. Looking to him light in her eyes. She turned. "Heave to and trice up. Hoist the mainsail! Cut the mooring lines. Weigh anchor! Let's take this beauty out to stretch her legs!" She shouted out. In true pirate style. She swung along the rigging as she helped the crew with her orders. "Way hey !"
Shaking his head he ascended the quarter deck with Roon and Sammie. He took the helm personally to pilot her out and let Roon, obstinately pilot; he just holding on for good measure.
Tasha smiled. Closing her eyes. The sea. True bliss...
He didn't even open the binnacle to take a compass reading. He sailed her by dead reckoning and trust in the look out up in the crow's nest. He called the winds forth to speed them along.
Tasha directed her with skill. Soon the island approached "land ho!”
“Heave over! Drop anchor and reef the sails. Coxwain prepare the captain's launch” Edward bellowed as he watched his wife enjoying herself in her element.
Tasha ran to the side. Climbing up on the rigging net as she felt the wind and sea upon her face. Beaming grin upon her face as the wind made her hair dance.
As the anchors dropped Edward brought Sammie, Roon the coxwain and a hand full of men to the captain's launch and started to hand Roon and Sammie down into the landing boat. He looked over his shoulder with a smirk, “Coming?”
Tasha opened her eyes. "I wouldn't miss it." She moved to him.
He handed her down into the landing craft and as they pushed away, the men he brought along shifted the oars and began pulling in the direction of the island. The coxwain confidently in charge.
Tasha smiled softly as she looked to the island. She blinked as she suddenly turned to look out towards the bay. Looking intently as If looking for something.
Looking happy and bold he booms out in the voice of command, yet still somehow carrying his love for her, “What are you trying to sight, wife?”
Tasha eyes narrowed. "I don't know...I thought I heard something calling my name...."
He snorted, “Sirens or mermaids?”
Tasha chuckled "I...don't know 'sug." She continued to stare off into that direction.
He nodded and shifted Roon into his lap, moving her rapier aside. He leaned forward and whispered in her ear. Her eyes got big as saucers and said “Really? Fun!”
Tasha sighed as she looked back to them. "It was nothing." She smiled softly as she saw the tail end of whispering. "What are you two gossiping about?"
Roon sang out: “Its a surprise!”
Tasha laughed softly. "A surprise is it..." she smiled softly. She felt the soft lurch of the boat as it scraped against the sand of the beach. Unable to go any further. "Alright....all ashore who's going ashore!"
Edward snorted and looked and apology to the coxwain. As they move up the beach she saw a large pavilion tent and a bonfire with a meal around that was nearly done cooking.
Tasha blinked as she was surprised to see the bonfire and tent. "What the...." she looked at it curiously as they drew nearer.
Edward laughed as he saw her surprise. “My love, I've lived at Roseshire all my life. Do you honestly think I've never been to this island before? Katherine and I used to come here as children for weekend getaways that sometimes lasted a month, here all on our own. The caverns are a new discovery though.” Though starting with a laugh he completed his thought with a frown. “Sammie and Roon will stay here while we go on, after we eat.”
Tasha nodded as she came into the tent. Looking about. "You sly dog. You've planned this didn't you..." of course he did. She smiled softly to him.
He snorted, “Did you honestly think I would risk my daughter, unborn child and my wife's Lady in Waiting so frivolously?” He swung her around himself and pulled her in for a kiss.
Tasha laughed softly as she kissed him back. moving her arms around him. "No, I don't think you would..."
He smirked, “I even arranged a little adventure for Roon and Sammie. When they go to explore the beach they will find a small chest with jewelry, a little gold and some silver toiletry items.”
Tasha sat down and enjoyed her food. watching Sammie and Roon explore, finding the treasures.
Edward sat with one arm around his wife's waist and eating with the other, watching contentedly, two of his other girls explore and find the treasures left for them. “These are the simple pleasures of life and the most valuable”, he thought to himself.
Tasha finally had her fill after two helpings. "That was delicious. Thank you love." She kissed him softly as she stood with a small grunt to help clean up.
He leaned back on both his hands in the sand, watching his girls with a boyish grin. Eventually, at six bells, she got up and walked up behind Tasha, wrapping her up in his arms and whispered into her ear, “Its about time for us to start exploring isn't it?” He motion about half the sailors with them to stay with Sammie and Roon and the other half to come with them.

Tasha smiled softly hearing his whisper. "Of course....lets go.." She kissed his lips softly as she began to head towards the caves.
He took her hand and led her with the sure knowledge of the land towards a set of caves whose entrances had been covered over for untold years with heavy plant growth.
Tasha was practically shaking with excitement. So eager to see what lay before them. "You think the rumor is true?"
He looked over to her smiling, “What rumor, my love?”
Tasha moved some of the plant life aside. taking her sword and cutting a path for them. "The lady of the Isle lives here...."
He looked at her quizzically, “Lady of the Isle? Tell me about it.”
Tasha sighed softly "Don't you remember how excited I was the other day about hearing a rumor that the Lady of the Isle was spotted here?" she looked to him for a moment.
"I remember it, but I also remember telling you those rumors were just about cave and not 'woman of the isle'. Tell me about her."
Tasha paused softly as she leaned on a rock. already winded. "She is the one who made King Arthur's sword, Excalibur. If she's here, then maybe Excalibur is too.."
“Ah” he said and scratched his head, “I had always heard her called the Lady of the Lake and her name is either Vivian or Niniva, depending on the legend.” Looking back at her he asked, “Do you really expect to find such a mythical being here?”
Tasha sighed softly looking about. "No, but its an adventure, sug..." she smiled looking to him. "I can't believe I'm already this tired...we just started out on our adventure...."
Looking at her softly he kissed her giving her a little vitality and a perking up. As they moved deeper the floor and walls change from irregular stone to a smooth worked corridor. He looked over to her quizzically.
Tasha felt better after the kiss. She paused seeing the change in the floor and walls. "Hmm....could be a trap laid about here somewhere..." she looked about, picking up a random pebble and tossing it forward ahead of them to see if it triggers any traps.
Nothing happened but he pointed to small holes in the ceiling and walls, “Spikes, probably triggered by a stone rigged to weight.”
Tasha nodded softly "They think of everything don't they?"
“Not everything, certainly not me.” He reached his hand out in a closing motion. A number or stones in the floor dropped and the darts flew. He looked at her with a shit eating grin. “Trap dealt with.”
Tasha laughed softly. "Well, aren't you the show off..." she proceeded forward.
The next trap was a poison gas that, though they could ignore he still blew away with a gust of wind. Then was a barely perceptible trip wire which he waved to her to handle.
Tasha went ahead and tripped it. Not afraid. She was having a blast. "I should have had you along years ago Sug..." she laughed.
He snorted a laugh. “Years ago I was not the same man. I might have taken a night or two of pleasure from you, but then moved on.” The came to a heavy stone door that looked like 20 men couldn't move it. It had a plaque, “Within lies the greatest treasure of the lost race of Sylvan elves.”
Tasha eyes widened. "There's gotta be a way to unlock it..." she ran her hand over the plaque..."Well, thank goodness we're here now...then huh..." she was feeling around, trying to figure out how to move it.
He snorted, “You forget who you are with wife. I feel not latch or lock. It is a solid piece of stone wedged in a channel. Step aside.”
Tasha stepped aside, crossing her arms "Well, its a puzzle piece. And you just like to shove that piece in don't you....just keep ramming it in until it can't take it anymore?" she grinned teasingly.
Looking at her with just a touch of annoyance on his face he reached out his hand and closed his fist, like the last time. “Is that really how you see me, wife?” The stone began to crumble into gravel.
Tasha grinned as she stepped to him, nipping his neck. "Oh come on...I can't jab at my husband? Besides...you have a very nice piece.."
He kissed her as, hand still outstretched, the gravel still flowed down in a river of gravel from the crumbling stone. He growled into her ear, “You know, after this, I may just need my aethor topped off, if you want to see that piece.”
Tasha chuckled softly as she nipped his ear. Intentionally teasing him. "Just maybe...."she pulled away as she stepped through the new opening.
Chuckling he shook his head and stepped through. Entering they saw a large chamber with alcoves running around the walls with the private possessions that perhaps a girl would have. In the center of the chamber, laying on a bed of flowers was an elven girl, about 12 with white hair and purplish hued skin. There was a pedestal before her with a plaque on it.
