A young man approached the gates of Silem wheezing, short of breath, his cloak had been singed and ash covered his form, his skin tarnished now with soot. He keeled over and dust rose into the air as he gave a few fits of coughing before standing and making his way to one of the Anemoi guard. "Entry... news... aid..." The boy tried to say to little avail.
Xalvandor the general of the Anemoi army kept an ever vigilant eye on the city, and even what occurred beyond its walls as he needed to keep a constant guard should a threat try and impose itself upon what the Duchess and her Duke had yearned to create. So though he may not have been yet in the exact detail of what was going on he had a strong idea this man that had came to the gate could start to enlighten them more to the details of New Arisalon and what was befalling their allies.
The Anemoi Guards at the gate had not seen their general but understood his eyes were sharp and he might not be far off. They inspected the young man, and though he needed rest and maybe healing from the journey, they could not just allow him entry till he was inspected.
The Young man was impatient however and tried to push against them and garner entry every moment spitting that there was not time.
"There is always time to observe social etiquette, now sir we must ask you not try and force your way within."
The young man gave a reluctant huff, crossing arms as he was inspected.
"Your weapon if you please sir, you may have it upon your retreat from Silem."
The young man stared at the Anemoi that had asked for his weapon, turning on his heel, his arms lifted, and pirouetted mocking the guard. He had no visible weapon so why hold him at the gate?
The Anemoi did not accept this as an answer however and asked again, when a clearing of the throat broke apart the two guard so the young man came face to face with Xalvandor and his blue grey eyes of storms.
Xalvandor spoke no word, he stared at the man and with few movements extended a palm upward to the man. The man stared at the eyes and saw something he had not seen in many. He began to undo his shirt, and soon he was half naked undoing his knife sheath, which he placed gingerly in the hands of this giant.
The giant gave a brief nod and passed the knife to one of his guards. They were keen, but they still needed a bit more training it seemed. Soon Xal and the young man made their way through the city.
"My name is Darius Wordswallow," the young man said, "Now please I have followed your social understandings and delicacies, now I must insist you take me to the Duke and Duchess!"
"Words carry on the wind." It was an odd statement, not even a full thought, thought Darius, but from Xal it sounded almost like a warning, a caution that too much talk lead to trouble. Darius stared at this creature with long blonde locks that seemed almost like silver in the wind and the form well trained, This man was of obvious importance and Darius knew better than to argue with him now, even over such oddities of not being able to state his purpose.
Through the streets Xal lead Darius till they came to the palace of the Duke and Duchess of Silem. Xal bowed to those at the guard and entered with Darius moving through hallways till he found the chambers of the Duke and Duchess giving a rap upon the door. They would now wait ever vigilant, for a response from the Duchess and her Duke.
