-Before Protea got her prophecy and became Queen-
Yet again her brew failed. This was the fifth attempt to get the spell right and somehow she kept doing it wrong. Each time, it was a missing ingredient or not enough turns with the ladle which should have gone clockwise and not counter clockwise. She was getting frustrated. As much as she poured through her books and tried to follow the million steps properly, she was still a failure.
This time she began to feel desperate, her emotions getting the better of her. She slammed the ingredients into the pot and stirred, waited for it to boil, stirred again and then added more ingredients. She realized she put an ingredient in out of order and screamed in frustration, her magic blasting out and filling the room in a spectrum of colors as she knocked the pot and the failed prophecy potion onto the floor.
"I'll NEVER get this right! How much of an idiot do I have to be to not get this order correct? Something is coming, I can feel it... I NEED to know, or it will drive me insane. What am I doing wrong damnit?" she sunk to the floor in despair and hugged her knees as depression settled in on her. The room was a total mess now, ingredients and tools all over the place. It was going to be quite a chore to clean... but for now, she simply succumbed to her despair.

The potion spilled onto the floor and Protea's sparks of chaos magic flew about as her emotions got to her. It would have been a mess for one person, especially one who was feeling despair, to clean up. A chore that would seem overwhelming. The potion nodded and began to pick things up placing the pot back upright without a sound, then cleaning shatters of glass and sweeping the floor. Then the curtains needed a good dusting, that would certainly have to be done. Oh and the rugs should be beaten. Oh and the candles needed exchanging, she could melt the old ones down to make new ones as well to help keep the costs down. Oh and food, yes food was essential to make. The book, yes the book needed to be placed back and on the correct page. There we go. It looked about and gave a nod happy in the work then looked over at Protea who was still on the floor in despair. This thing did not know what was up with Protea, but knew that it wanted to please her. Maybe Protea hadn't noticed she cleaned the room. She went to speak, but she had no voice and could not get Protea's attention that meant. Well phoey, thought the thing.
The thing took a few steps forward and looked down then back around the room. No the room was very clean now. Yes everything in a proper place, and the food was ready and would get cold soon. Two hands placed themselves on Protea to guide her up to the table sitting her before the food. The potion seemed to have taken on a life of its own and formed a body from the first thing it saw which was its mistress. But she knew she could not look like her mistress either, she didn't know how, but she felt it would freak her mistress out so instead she took on bright periwinkle hair and her eyes were white, but not the blind kind of milky white, just white. She smiled at her mistress and presented the food. Pointing at it then her mouth aping eating.

Frustration and despair had a hold of Protea so much that she just automatically went with the movement the creature was guiding her to do. She was at a table and there was delicious food in front of her. It was the smell of this food that first started to clear the fog in her mind, then the world began to bleed back into focus in front of her and she looked up startled at the creature in front of her.
"You..." she looked around and saw that the disaster from before was gone. Not only that, the place was cleaner than she had ever seen it before. She frowned and looked back at the creature again. "Who are you?"
There was something similar about the creature though. A certain smell, a certain shimmer. Like the potion. She looked over at the pot and back at the creature again. No... it wasn't possible, was it?
"...what, are you?"

Thing looked back at her mistress as she first got a good glance of her. Her smile widened and she clapped a bit as it seemed her mistress was eating and drew out of the small slump she was in. The woman sat down and waited for her mistress to finish the food, herself not being hungry, not even yet knowing if she too would need food. But her mistress would so there would be plenty to do.
Then the mistress stared at her in wonderment and asked where she came from, a bit confused it seemed. When asked her name she shrugged, she didn't know she was to have one or even had one. When asked what she was she pointed to the cleaned pot and then went through a big wave of her hands imitating the spilling of the potion on the floor, then she open and closed her hands in various spots around her head to indicate some sort of spark or magic or something she could not understand and of course she then indicated herself pointing to her own body, then back at the floor where the potion was just to reiterate and emphasize what Protea had already suspected.

"You came from the potion?" she said and looked over at the pot. No, not just the potion... that wasn't the potion's purpose. It must have been her own magic going out of control again, mixed with the potion. "I made you..." she felt tears in her eyes suddenly. It was hard to know if those were tears of guilt and sadness at what she'd done, or tears of happiness at such a feat of magic and not being alone anymore.
She wanted to say she was sorry, but somehow she felt that would hurt the creatures feelings. From the way it was acting... it seemed attatched to her already, looking to her for guidance. Protea finished her food. "That was delicious," she said to the girl. "Thank you."
Rising from the table she thought for a moment and looked over at the girl. "Why don't you stay here with me for now? We can look after each other, until I figure out what would be best for you." Protea went into the other room and set up another makeshift bed that would be comfortable enough. A brief thought did cross her mind that she should simply 'fix' this mistake and put the creature out of its misery before anything bad happened to it. But something about it... Protea just couldn't bring herself to think of such a thing again.

Thing, for that was all she could yet understand to be called as Protea had made a wise guess in that it was both her magic and the potion that caused the formation, clapped at the wise guess and touched her own nose then reached out to touch protea's but stopped when Protea started to tear up it seemed. Thing tilted her head to the side trying to understand why her mistress was upset. She thought mistress should be happy with all the cleaning she had done and managed in the end.
Thing smiled and gave a small bow at the thanks for the food. She was unable to speak actual words and say thank you or you're welcome, but it was somehow communicated in the bow. Thing took the plate and went to clean it swaying back and forth a bit as if she were humming only no sound came from her.
When she was done Protea had made the offer for her to stay and made her a bed. She went to hug Protea then jumped on the bed curling up and fell asleep without any issue.
