((The message delivered, Protea was warned about the coming threat to the entire capital city, and right at the point that it was possibly at it's most vulnerable for what was to come.
Not it was time for the Queen to make her plan and do what she could to protect the Kingdom.
This is a continuation from The Tiger Warns The Queen.))

The first step that the Queen took was to send word to her new Council, to arrive together at the castle grounds and her tent as soon as possible. Once they arrived, she would inform them of what had been said to her and ask each of them for their advice on how to move forward, and who they could reach out to for aid if they decided it necessary.

Vici, though not part of the queen's council, was always there to help and aid her mistress, that she served. There was an odd connection between these two it seemed but none would ever quite understand or know what it was. She smiled at Protea and waved before taking a seat to wait on the others knowing it wouldn't be long before they arrived.

Wulv received message to make way to the queen at their earliest convenience, so scribbled a quick note for Sune, in case their mate missed the word, and dressed heading to the tent where the queen last was as the castle was still being built. Wulv had many things to do though and so could not always be at the castle's grounds, but they tried their best to juggle everything they had to. Including three new kids to the family. Wulv entered with a small nod of the head and glanced around seeing Vici and the queen. "I suppose we shall wait for others before delving into the matter at hand?"

Cairogen had been at the castle already working on it, but had to make sure his current project was finished to a stable point before he could break away. When he walks into the tent he gives a slight bow to the Queen and Wulv, then gives a smile and wave to Vici "Sorry, it took me a while to stabilize one of the hidden passages. If i had came sooner it would have collapsed and set the work back a week" He find a spot to sit and rests a moment.
He wasnt exactly in prime condition, covered in dirt and dust from working, so he at least wiped his face off to appear somewhat presentable. He looks around briefly "Hmm Tempest and the crazy demon havnt shown yet...i cant call Manic since i dont know him, but i will attempt to send him a call as well as Tempest" He closes his eyes for a minute focusing. Tempest would be easy to contact, but manic would be a bit tricky. For him he sent a wide area telepathic burst honed in on the mana he saw within the demon when they met at the council selection meeting. ~The council is being called, please come to the Queens tent X_Tempest_D Manic_Moriarty (Main) SW_Sune_Oinari (Main)~(sune tagged just cause :-P )

Manic had finally come back a some point fro the Abyss. Things were still chaotic and there was much to do still but then he never got a break these days. He had a kingdom to run and a new born daughter to take care of and his son’s Peter and Orin still needed him. He would be in the middle of sorting out the latest problem when he got the mental ping from Cair. “hmm? That’s a new one. I guess that would be that other gentleman” He mused and looked to those about him “You” pointing a finger dramatically at just a random demon “ Take care of this mess. I have more important maters to attend” he old them, moving his hand to run through his own white hair.
Swivelling on his heel he turned to go, disappearing in a puff go purple myst. That same purple myst snaking it’s way out of his Hell and back up into the earthen plan. It snaked it’s way to the castle grounds and would wrap itself about the Queen’s shoulders like a very light and intangible boa. this quickly turned into Manic’s arm draped around Protea’s shoulder’s.
The man was dressed in a suit today. The top portion was black with red stripes that was open at the chest. This was layered over with a plain red vest. He had on a few black bracelets of various widths and a black chocker too from which dangled his sigil made of obsidian. He wore his wedding ring of course.
As to the pants they were the same as the top and he had on red boots to complement the red vest. A black leather belt tied it all together and the fabric felt like it must be made of the softest of silk. “Hey Queeny. What’s the fuss?” he asked and pulled her in for a hug if she let him.

(This is a planned scene between Jess and myself. We apologize in advance for the lack of ability to respond in some ways your characters probably would. But for the sake of transition, it needed to happen.)
Something hadn’t sat well with Laelia for some time now. Since the Coronation debacle, doubts had nagged at the General’s mind that all was not as it seemed with Protea Kyanite. The trickster fiend arriving when it did, the destruction of the crown being the key to break the magic binding everyone within the palace, the convenience of Protea being unconscious for the whole ordeal. Even all of those things, Laelia could have overlooked. But there was one thing that she couldn’t.
Queen Protea hadn’t done a thing to investigate the incident.
Knowing that such a creature remained out there, knowing that a potential threat lingered with the ability to perform such deeds should have seen Protea pursuing the capture of the enemy without resting until she found him. Instead, she let the matter be, which didn’t make a lick of sense.
It wasn’t Laelia’s job to investigate the incident. That is what she’d told herself. But when Protea failed to do it, the age old ‘If you want something done right, do it yourself’ mentality nagged at the General until she finally conceded.
The crown. That is where she started. The broken crown that she had crushed beneath her boot heel out of spite for the whole coronation debacle. After several divinations cast by Magisters of New Arisalon, the chaos magic inherent in the crown began to reveal a trail. It truly wasn’t difficult. The magic wasn’t clean by any means.
The trail led to a dingy tavern in the south near Acerinia. There, Laelia found the Imp.
And he told her everything.

Under the guise that General Laelia Kaliba and the Tyran Army were joining the defense of the capital from the creature Krixia had warned of, the army had surrounded the capital. In truth, the Tyran Army did intend to protect the capital from the threat. But the General had an ulterior motive to ensuring her troops maintained a strong position about the capital.
With several soldiers attending her, Laelia Kaliba approached the large tent with a purposeful stride. Her expression matched her appearance: cold, steely. Her blue cloak billowed menacingly behind her. A gauntlet covered hand gripped a length of thick hemp rope, dragging something alongside her. A creature. For those who had attended the coronation, the creature seemed familiar indeed. In fact, the imp was one and the same.
A sideways glance was spared at the Queen's council before Laelia hurled the bound creature to the ground in front of her. Her icy blue gaze then shifted to Queen Protea, piercing her with a disapproving stare.
Queen Protea had been about to start a meeting with her council about the threat Krixia had warned her of, when the Tyran Army's General appeared with force. To say it was unexpected was likely an understatement, but Protea remained composed until the moment the creature was thrown in front of her and General Laelia was giving her a knowing look. Queen Protea looked down at the creature who was cowering before her and mumbling "sorry" over and over.
She sighed and looked back to the General and her soldiers. "I see," she said calmly and crossed her arms in front of her. "Very well then. I know why you have come... so say your piece General Kaliba. I assume from the way you have arrived that this will not be a peaceful visit," her eyes moved to the others standing around with an apologetic smile. "I'm afraid we wont be able to have our meeting. Thank you for taking the time to come here though, and understand that the threat I told you about is indeed real... so be prepared."
She tapped her finger on her hip for a few moments as several thoughts went through her mind. For a brief moment, she thought about escaping, but she'd come to know this land well enough to know it would only delay the inevitable and possibly cause others their lives in the process. Looking down at the creature she shrugged her shoulders, "Sorry as well friend. Somehow you were found and now meet your fate because of me. Thank you for your loyalty."
Then she met the General's eyes again and folded her hands in front of her as she waited for anything else she had to say. The others around them were probably confused and wondering now what was going on. Protea wasn't going to admit to it herself first though.

Laelia wasn't sure what reaction she had been expecting from Protea. Had she been expecting the woman to react with shock that the General had discovered her secret? Had she expected Protea to flee and try to save her own life? Or had she expected the Queen to fall to her knees and grovel for forgiveness? Whatever Laelia had expected, it didn't truly matter. Instead, Protea maintained her composure, facing her accuser with dignity.
Her eyes flickered briefly to those also within the tent. They were likely surprised and she could not fault them for being so. They didn't know what was going on. And so Laelia elected not to prolong their confusion. "I was able to discover your co-conspirator because your magical hygiene is pitiful." She said with scathing disdain. "Your magic is chaotic. Sloppy. It left trails behind that even an amateur could follow. And once I grew impatient with your lack of investigation into the matter, I took it upon myself. The trail lead me right to him." The corner of her mouth lifted in a cold smirk. "And he told me everything."
"You were behind the entire incident at your coronation all along. You hired this trickster fiend to wreak havoc and put numerous lives in danger. Including that of my family. My son." My lover. "I will not abide by that."
Protea listened patiently to the accusation and briefly glanced around to see the reactions of the others before looking back to the General. "I admit to what you are accusing. Let me be clear on my intent however. It was to eliminate Raelle. That woman publicly humiliated me at my own coronation and challenged my authority. She wasn't going to stop there... she would have challenged me the entire time I reigned. The others who were caught up in it... well, it wasn't my concern really since I didn't know them personally. I only intended for Raelle to die, and she would have if she reached the third chamber. I instructed this creature to try not to harm the others but... well, imps do as they please. Powerful magic, questionable loyalty."
She sighed, "I apologize for the jeopardy I put everyone in. My magic is a bit chaotic, so I couldn't do it in a more direct way because it would have been too obvious. Looks like I failed either way though. She lives, and..." she looked at the General and smirked a little, "well, I've been found out on my attempt at her life. I understand its high treason attempting to kill her, as well as the others that were placed in danger."
"So what is your verdict on my treason, General?" Protea didn't have to ask, but for the sake of the others there it would be important for it to be said out loud. Protea was still honorable and stuck to her word, even if she did do quite a devious act against Raelle.

The General was silent as Protea rose her voice to confess to the accusations laid at her feet. Her head canted as she spoke of having Raelle killed. And while Laelia often didn't agree with Raelle's decisions, and vice versa, Laelia counted Raelle as a dear friend. Her lips pursed tightly before she murmured with a great deal of self-loathing. "And I protected the Queen that would have had my friend murdered in the very next room." Her voice was raw, fists clenching. "You're not even going to try to deny it. I suppose I must respect that, at least."
Laelia didn't give a damned about whether Protea's actions were treason or not. Could a Queen be treasonous to herself? She didn't know if such a thing was possible. But one thing was for certain. Laelia would never forgive Protea for putting so many people at risk for something so meaningless. She would not forgive the other woman for making the decision to put her family at risk. For trying to kill her friend.
She could not forgive Protea for being caught.
"Your apology means little to me. It is clear to me that you are unfit to rule. I told you when we first met that I would give you a chance. A chance you have squandered." Her eyes again shifted to the witnessed to the Queen's confession. "You have all heard the Queen's words. You have all witnessed the tale of her treachery from her own lips. I remember the looks on the faces of the people in that room as they thought their loves ones were going to drink poison for them. There will be retribution."
Laelia reached out with her left hand, grabbing Protea firmly by the upper arm, tugging her roughly but without violence towards the edge of the tent. Her expression was cool and blank. If anyone moved to try and intervene, the guards with the General would move to intercept them. Once she was no longer in danger of injuring anyone else, she shoved Protea to her knees on the ground and took a single step back. Her hand lowered to the hilt of the blade at her hip, Starscale. She drew the sword and it bathed the area with light and heat.
"What are your last words, Protea Kyanite?"

When Protea was grabbed, some of the Queen's personal guard began to move to her defense. Before battle between guards began, Protea lifted her free hand up and shouted, "Halt, allow the General to do as she's going to. I release you all from your contract to protect me... thank you." With that the guards seemed conflicted, but appeared to respect her wishes to not cause more conflict.
She was shoved to the ground and the General had her sword drawn. So this was the sentence. Protea sighed softly and looked through the blinding light of Starscale at those watching. Vici was there but Protea couldn't see her too clearly past the sword's light. Last words. What a strange thing that was to hear... the feeling of emotions conflicting in her heart. Fear, regret, defiance, hate, pride.
"Vici... go to our place of origin, where we first met. This... this is going to hurt you a lot, and I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for all I did to you. I do love you, like a little sister whom I never got to have. You were my only family. So go... don't witness this, return to our place and find the coral colored vial. Drink it, and you'll be set free of me and this pain. If you don't, you'll only suffer further... I don't want that, Vici. Goodbye, my friend."
She indicated she wasn't finished yet as she went on. "My council are innocent, as are my staff. All were chosen after my attempt on Raelle, so they knew nothing. They deserve to retain their positions if possible in the next hierarchy. And finally..."
She smiled up at Laelia sweetly as she said her final words. "I revoke my contract with the Gods. May Tyr curse you and your descendants for all time, Laelia Kaliba." A pulse of magic shot through the ground as her words broke the contract she had with Tyr and Sinead... allowing them freedom once again to approach the Capital as they pleased.
Laelia waited patiently for the dead woman to say her last words. It was a boon she granted Protea for surrendering to her fate. She would not stop anyone from leaving if they objected to watching this sentence be carried out. Not everyone's heart was as hard to bloodshed as her own.
For a brief moment she felt a touch of compassion for the Thing, Vici. So devoted to her Queen, Vici had hugged Laelia intensely when the General saved them all from the imp's trap. She imagined Vici would not forgive her for killing her mistress. Laelia would add Vici to the long list of people who would never forgive Laelia Kaliba.
She didn't go out of her way to harm innocent people. Laelia most often went out of her way to try and avoid collateral damage as well. Something Protea seemed to hold no consideration for. Her eyes narrowed as Protea cursed her with her last words. It wouldn't be the first time. Surely it wouldn't be the last. In many ways, Laelia Kaliba was already cursed. One more meant little to her. It would be a cold day in hell when she trembled at the thought of any god's curse.
"I truly hope he does." Laelia murmured in response as she raised Starscale, ready to deliver the death blow. "I won't hesitate to confront him either."
Finally the sword fell. And so did Protea's head.

With the bloody deed done, Laelia exhaled heavily, turning on her heel to face the witnesses to her dispensation of justice. She watched them for a long moment, observing their reactions to what she had just done. She had just killed the Queen. Doing so created a power vacuum that could lead to instability and fighting. Her eyes closed briefly as she considered her next course of action. One thing came to mind. Was it truly what she wanted? It was something she had considered so long ago. Something she had been offered by Mordred Vargo and refused.
And yet, Tyran had not benefited from her refusal to be Queen.
But now? Things were very different. She had stood by four previous rulers of Tyran as they came and went. It was Laelia, among others who had provided the steadfast defense for the country. Her political clout was strong. Herself personally, and by virtue of her family name, provided her with several very powerful allies. She would be able to hold the throne and provide Tyran with the stability it needed to be prosperous.
And Zephyr would be her heir. Mordred’s heir would eventually have the throne. Truly his birthright. For so long she’d tried to keep Zephyr from it. To protect him from the curse of his father’s name. But he was old enough now. Mordred had been gone a long time. Perhaps he would be ready soon. And Laelia would hold Tyran until he was.
Finally, the General broke her silence, gazing at those assembled. “The Queen of Tyran, Protea Kyanite, has been deposed.” She said with a firm but quiet tone that seemed piercing despite its volume. “I hereby claim Tyran’s throne in my own name and in the name of my son, Zephyr Kaliba…Zephyr Vargo Kaliba. Mordred Vargo’s son and heir. Anyone who does not care to continue the work you were summoned to do today is free to leave. But I intend to protect this city and this nation. With my own hands if necessary. And I would like you to join me.”

Vici's eyes went wide and of course she went after the queen to the point where she had to be restrained. Protea was her family, her only family and here she was being accused of doing things that Vici could not believe to be true. Instead in her mind Laelia was the enemy who wanted to punish her mistress and for what? Vici thrashed about till the guards held her and she stared at Protea tears falling from her eyes as she listened to the last things Protea had to say, the last things she would ever hear from her mistress, her friend, her sister in a way. As soon as she heard them the guards dragged her off but it was too late, she had fallen into a deep state of despair and collapsed upon the men crying. She would have to get to the coral coloured vial soon though or she too would vanish as her life had come about due to a fluke in her mistress's magic. With her mistress gone soon she would fade away as well.

Wulv witnessed the whole affair with a frown upon their form. They had not trusted the queen to the full extent she had asked for, and here was the proof that had been nagging away as to why. Yet still they could not think death to be the best answer. However she did threaten the very life of Raelle Ravencourt. So whether or not they agreed to the solution Laelia had come to it was true that this woman was committing a sort of treason, and that she endangered all the capital in doing so. With the last breaths she talked to Vici then essentially cursed the capital. Wulv would try to find the small one later, but for now their attention was back on the fallen form of the former queen and then their eyes moved to Laelia. They were not one to question the commander after she made a decision. Their few interactions with the woman gave them enough witness to know she did not come to these solutions easily and that care and detail went into the woman's thoughts. So when she claimed the throne for her own Wulv gave a nod. Orisimark made a comment about the disposal of the former queen before going into why they were there. "So the monster will still come even after all this? Co..." Wulv was torn at the moment whether to call Laelia her majesty or commander, but then went with their gut and what they figured Laelia would want most, "Commander if this is the case the armies will be torn. The temples could launch attack on the capital at any time without regard thinking it is the best solution for a balance in the land and then this creature below will threaten as well. Even you know the dangers of fighting on two fronts. Perhaps I should go in your stead and see if I cannot bargain with the temples on a new treaty for the time seeing as I am well respected amongst them for whatever reason." It wasn't a perfect solution, but it might bide them time to approach the dangers one at a time and relieve the pressure of the army.

Post by Manic_Moriarty (Main) on Oct 7, 2017 7:31:12 GMT -8
Manic had watched as Laelia came in, His read eyes shifting sideways to look to the queen he was draped around before looking to the General and then the Imp. His posture quickly changed and he let go of the Queen, straitening to attention out of respect for the General whom he had recently made alliances with. He was about to question he action perhaps even try to protect the queen but it seemed that Protea was admiring defeat and that it had been her behind the imp the whole time.
He knew wha this meant, it meant there wasn’t every really a council and that gathering the all like this might even have been part of some foul plan bigger than any of them could fathom right now. Other thoughts buffeted at him for attention but they were pushed aside momentarily as he listened and watched in silence.
Moved away from Protea as the causation were made and she admitted to them so easily, moving instead to b closer to the general though now he was question if he could truly trust her any more then he should have trusted the Queen that well was no longer the queen it would seem. Hearing that thy had been all caught up in magic gone wrong made him feel slight pity for Protea but then tho danger so many just to harm one an’t really the actions of one they should be following.
Manic had not been at the ball so didn’t see much of what Laelia was talking about though he could imagine quite well how it must have felt at the time and ho scared they all must have been. His eyes now looking to Wulv as he knew how deeply they loved Sune and vice versa. How hard must it have ben for them to look at the other and think ‘this is the end’ Laelia said there would be retribution and he had to wonder to what extent and what would be done. His eyes widened as the scene continued and the General puled out her blade and unlike the others he didn’t really ned to look away. Thanks to his own abilities to glow just as brightly himself he found no harm came from continuing to watch.
Instead he seemed to be soaking in the emotions of all about him and his body started glowing on it’s own accord. this not being something he could control or stop. He gasped a bit feeling the vile about him dropping and knowing that soon he would be a drunk mess on the ground if he didn’t do something, anything. His skin when from flesh coloured to a more blue hue until he looked more like a living crystal standing there, rubies replaced his eyes, Onyx replaced his horns and hair was replaced by shaped and pointed Howlite. He could feel all of the emotions coming from all and his own blu light joined in with the blinding light of Starescale.
He started to feel his head spin and the world going fuzzy, this was not good. The last thing he needed to do right now was to fall on the ground laughing when everything going on right now was so tense. He pushed the gathering magic into his hell, trying to keep himself sober and upright, though a laugh escaped when Protea pleaded for them. As if any future royalty would take on a council so easily fooled by there own past ruler. The laugh continued right up until the old queens had fell, the man still snickering and shaking as he tried so hard to not win this moment for those about him.
“who..” hehe.. giggle “will be the queen now and keep tyranny in check” he half chuckled his words and knew he sounded just a bit deranged. He held it al in for awhile longer as things got serious and Laelia stepped up to fill the empty space left by Protea, looking to the others to see if they would accept as he pushed more of the magic build up out of him and into the ground heating it up.
Vici’s despair had not gone unnoticed by him, even as the room had started to spin and h had started to sway on his feet, truly he was useless when he got too drunk or high on emotions. Stumbling over to the crying girl if she as still present he did the only thing he could do and placed a hand on her shoulder to take away the sadness she felt if she let hm. He could also make her forget all about the Queen too if she so chose to but he knew she would not. “you can come home with me little one’ his voice now switching from laughter to that of true heart ache, but only if she let him take her sadness because then it would become his own.
The man would turn back to the others when they all spoke up, emotions calming and him finally starting to level out again would slowly stop glowing and return to the form all here ere more used to seeing. A frown on his face and a nod given “Yes General!” he said and then gave Laelia a proper salute, letting the others say whatever they had to say as he awaits further orders or suggestions on what they should do next for a bit

She hadn't expected there to be so little response to her decapitation of Queen Protea directly in front of them. Aside from Vici, whom Laelia had anticipated to be upset, no one so much as reprimanded her for the action. Not so much as a protest at her bold declaration. Two of them...even laughed. Laelia didn't view the situation with amusement and cast a disapproving glance at them before she continued to address their concerns.
"There is no reason to believe the threat will end simply because I've assumed the mantle of leadership. I have already surrounded the Capital with the troops I had on standby in the area. There are more that could be called upon." Her head canted as she regarded them. "If necessary. But I would prefer to leave the others where they are if at all possible. To pull them back to the Capital means leaving other territories undefended."
"I have little concern about the Temple of Sinead. There is no reason for them to become hostile, even with Protea's little contract negated. Her followers do not attack indiscriminately." Laelia swept her glacial eyes towards Wulv. "However, if you wish to approach the Temple of Tyr, I would request you relay this message: Tyran's citizens are free to worship as they will. The Crown has no interest in dictating the religious beliefs of its people. The places of worship within the Capital will remain where they have been built. So long as Order is upheld, I have no intention to interfere."
"I intend to escalate the building of the new castle. I imagine it will be quite different from the vision Protea had in mind, but so be it. I will meet with the engineers soon, once word has been spread of the new regime." With help from her allies, she was certain to speed up the building process significantly. "I will also begin fortifying the city against external attack. Strengthening the walls, production of weaponry." The corner of her mouth lifted as she remarked with a musing tone. "Industry in Tyran is going to flourish." It always did during wartime.
"As for the creature beneath the city, I would like to meet with the one who originally warned Protea of this threat. Before I learned of her treachery, I received a missive from Protea with information. But we need to know more about it. In the meantime, I suggest we gather our most powerful light mages, healers, priests and druids."

Orisimark nodded as she spoke "I have many trained drow I can lend to help as well I can send 50 magic users 50 sword and shield users and 50 bow users." he said looking to laelia "I am sure that many of us can and will help. I have an idea for the monster but I agree we need to speak to the woman and I will need a strong magic user from each of us so we can try and trap it from coming up." he said he did not care who ruled as long as they ruled correctly

Cairogen had watched the entire scene quietly, bot indicating his emotions on the matter. When it was all over he looks to the queens body for a moment and finally sighed. "I had wondered how that imp had gotten so close to do all that without notice... Its a shame, i honestly believed she would have done the country good" He looks to Laelia "Though i do think Banishment would have been a more proper course, after all her reasons were sound, she simply chose a poor path"
He shakes his head "Nevertheless its done with now. Im not sure if we should still be seen as advisors after being duped, but i will stay on unless you see fit to find someone else. McArther industries will help supply goods for fortifying the walls. Plus we have a few ideas on magical weapon prototypes that might be useful for defenses. Things that sit in our vaults as we dont normally deal with magical weapons aside from standard enchanted weapons"
He walks over to Vici kneeling down to her and rubbing her head gently "I will search my fathers library for anything that may be useful pertaining to what i assume is a Behemoth type monster judging from what we heard earlier. But first i plan to help Vici get to where she needs to go, its the least we can do for her after all this" He looks to Vici and sighs "If you'll accept my help little one"

(One more reply to Cairo and then I'll continue posting over on the next thread!)
"To leave an enemy to live is to constantly look over your shoulder for a knife in your back. There is no purpose in letting an enemy leave to gather support and come back someday. Better to put down a threat permanently." It was an ideal she had been raised with.
"I will attempt to make contact with Krixia, and will summon you all once she has arrived."
(On to Part 3!)
