Devin looked over the acres of land that he was planning on home steading . He was a sayter and sayters only goal in life was to produce as many children. As possible. However Devin had a few experiences that made him different . He also wanted to be a father to his children and husband to his wives .
He walked around the place several times. Before finding a flat peice of land with a treeline toward the back This would make a nice protected place from the wind and elements . The first thing he did was make a blue print
of the type of house he would have.
He had allready married Tiana , she was the first wife,he had a second planned Narcilla , but the house lived in now would be much too small for three. Wives and the several children that came with it .

After he made his blue print . He Began my measuring out the space for the house . He would use waddle and daub much like the last house . Stone and wood for the base .
He began to make foundation of the house.
He measured out the space he would need .
Using little wooden spikes her began to measure out the base of the house . Digging small trenches . From Spike to spike .
Then placing down then finding the cornor stones of the house he began to dig in the ground . To make the foundation and eventually the flooring .

Digging out the ground for a foundation and floor would be a long and hard process . Especially by himself. It had to be done though.he would curse himself for not building the right home in the first place.
He took from the original trenches he made he would first use an axe to break up the hard dirt around tree line and also to break up any. Tree roots.
Lucky for him the tree roots were young and easily tore up from the ground . The as he worked a section . He would grab the spaded shovel and scoop the dirt out .

Devin would dig and dig through most of the morning when he needed to do something he would work untill it was done. The dirt would also be used to make the daub.
He had gotten half the foundation dug out as the materials he ordered would start coming in . The cut stone for the base , the wood of various shapes and sizes and the. The daub he could make himself.
He helped unload the cart which he would trade services for. To pay off, or maybe steal from Peter to pay Paul. He was good at that too.

It was almost lunch by the time he finished half of the digging out taking another break and going off to rest a bit and eat some food . He wouldn't bother cleaning up.
After a hour or two of food and rest he began the process all over of using the axe and the spaded shovel .. and moving dirt until night fall came . Now he would take a much needed bath which was water he drew from the well to wash his body . Supper and rest .

The next day as early as Devin could manage to arise .. he ate his breakfast and would out back to the home site.
He would first start by making sure his edges were sharp and the side of where the cornor stones to the foundation. We're laid were sturdy and measured.
He would start packing the dirt making sure it was hard and sturdy and wouldn't shift when he laid the stone.
Devin found the cornor stones and placed them . Then he uses wood to frame the cornor tones using wood that had been cut to to fit together much like a puzzle peice.
Against the packed dirt sides he made he would fit the wood in sliding it in to a tight fit using a mallet to bang it down if he needed .
He would go to drink some much needed water .

Once the wood was placed in on the sides. He would began laying the stone Down for the foundation the way the stone was cut it would fall in and lay down next to each other nicely
He would work till mid morning and rest his arms and back maybe even closes his eyes for a moment or two to regain his strength . Before getting back up. And working on the stone foundation again.
Using his tools he would pound the stones together to make sure it all fit together tightly. Once that was done he would work on filling in the stones with a type of lime stone clay to fill in any gaps ..
He would have to leave it rest in the sun to let it dry .

A few days later Devin would start in the bottom frame of the house and frame the flooring for all the rooms.
Using the same measuring tools and wats he ised before pegs and lines
The bottom floor would be mapped out for all daily living and mostly be one large room. A room for a pantry. A room for the ale. And places marked out for several supporting beams for the living quarters upstairs .
The kitchen would have to be large. And the hearth ..he started with the hearth first .

Tosh carver watched devin for the first few days and then arose earlier rhan devin that day after all they were partners he walked along the property scouting for a perfect place to put a barn. when he had found it he walked to devin "i will be building the barn for you with wood." he said nodding to him with a smile.
He would walk away with his pick and a shovel moving to where the barn was to be made southwest of the house he would began by making the foundation as devin had for the house first he would dig up trenches breaking any rocks in his way. there werent many trees there so not any tree roots to break.

Tosh did not need measurements he was a dwarf miner and farmer after all. he began to dig the foundation out this would take him quite awhile digging then patting the dirt down around the house.
Once he had finished however he would go out in the late hours of night and began cutting trees down for the lumber to make the foundation. slicing it and sawing until everything became perfect. he would take the lumber to the barn foundation to be built once he did that he went to bed with a smile on his face

Using the stone that he did not for the floor he began the construction on the large stone hearth using the stones sticking together much the same way he did with the line stone
This required a bit more skill and masonry work as he was working up and around and the wrong shape would make the smoke go in the house rather then out . She worked carefully and slowly. Always looked at his plans . Re measuring making sure everything was right and measured correctly ..
It would take him two days but finally it was tall enough for a two storey house .

As Devin was waiting for the everything to bake as it were on the hearth and give the floor more time to harden . He would help tosh on the barn.
He would spend his time helping him cut the lumber . The barn did not not need to be pretty like the houses .he would cut the wood as tosh wanted since it was his project .
"We're gonna have 5 milk cows and horses in this barn .. then we will need a barn for the sheep ..and shelter for the pigs. We will need to keep as much of the aacorn trees as we can as it's free food for the pigs " he knew he knew this
But Devin like to tell people things . He needed to remember himself .

Tosh woke up early the next morning and walked out to the new barn and began building the foundation placing lumber down in the trenches which were a bit deeper than the middle. it was quite a large barn able to hold three cows and horses as well as three donkeys and even a few sheep and pigs if needed.
he made the barn two stories tall with reinforced steel which he had ordered that day with a smile as it was delivered quickly. he would also reinforce the walls with steel when he got to them but he currently focused on the foundation. in which he began to place dirt on and packing it until it felt like stone deep set stone to hold the building in place

A nice stone floor to the barn would be easy to clean and make it last for the ages. And ages and what they would need . With tosh as dwarf as his partner and him a sayter and narcilla a draw and Tiana being what ever magical being she was.
Devin would help move the stone he had a few days before the he would go back to work on the house and once they started building the frames of either building they would need each other help

Once tosh got the stones he needed he would began to make the floor of the barn. he placed rock after rock placing it into a type of puzzle for himself and any other dwarf that showed up would recognize its significance in dwarven structrure.
It took him all day to line the floor with stones this was a very large and long barn. he worked all day long to make the floors perfect for them. once it hit night and he could no longer see he went to bed

Devin was a hard worker there was no doubt but he did not have the longevity of the dwarf .
As the sun rose and the coffee pours he looked at the dwarf for a moment " aye partner we need to think of a name for our future, something as sturdy as this farm will be." He sat in a chair as he watched the sun rise . Enjoying the relaxation before the started work on the walls
" If ya don't mind I'm gonna steal your labor for my house .. and then you steal mine for the barn. " He chuckles

Tosh chuckled at the satyr "i think we should name it Black Oak farm and dairy due to the black oak trees surrounding us." he said nodding then taking a drink of coffee. "yes i think that would be a smart move." he said chuckling draining his coffee and getting his tools.
He headed out to the house and began to look it over with a smile he had done well so far "ok lets get these walls up." he said looking to devin with a smile

He chuckled again and went with the dwarf to get these walls made ." That's a good name
The first thing they would do is gather the wood they would need from the forest they would need strong sticks they could pound into the ground just inside the base between the two pieces of wood he had made for the base of the house. the wood would need about 4 inches thick. And enough to be spaces about 12 inches apart.
When they got done doing that. Devin would build a fire and lightly char the ends that they would hammer in as this would strengthen the parts going into the ground .

tosh would began to search for the wood and bring back piles upon piles until he felt they had enough.
he would began to drive the sticks into the ground after they were charred one after another until he had done it all artound the house "well then looks like we got that part done what next?"he asked curiously as he wanted to know how he would like his house built. he moved and got steel reinforcements from the barn just in case devin wished for it

There would be no need for steel reinforcements .. " wattle and daub if maintained and sheltered can last 700 years " he would state.
After the branches were pounded in they would take the smaller more bendy sticks they gathered and weave them in front and behind .. they would repeat this process untill they had built a wall .. then a mixture of clay dirt animal dung and straw would be slapped on and smoothed out .

Tosh nodded as he watched him first then joined in "interesting but you know the weather could cause problems." he said as he helped him work. he would do as much as he could before taking a break and going and getting some water.
When he came back he would get back to work helping him build the house from top to bottom then grabbing some clay and dung and slapping it on and smoothing it out over the whole building.

" Bring those boards so we can start on the second floor .devin would start on the second floor . Putting the base around the top of the walls they had just built. And the walls of the second floor would go much like the top , but first the frame of the second floor the the floor .

tosh continued his work on the bottom floor until he had officially completed everything hoping it to be as perfect as it could ever be. he worked until there was no more to do on the bottom level then joined devin on the top level
he moved to devin "okay this house is looking real good now devin." he said chuckling to him as he began to help frame the second floor.

Tiana nodded as Devin told her to get the boards. They were a little heavier than she expected them to be, but she didn't gripe or groan about it. She just did her best. She would hand him the boards and help secure the flooring. She smiled as Tosh came to help them. "Aye. Tha house is lookin' really good. Lots of love goin' into this work." she smiled to the men as they all worked hard.

As they were handed the boards Devin would place them in using iron nails to secure the second floor the second floor. Which between. Bother Devin and tosh and Tiana would not take long . And three was always better then one .
The with Devin on one side tosh in the other would able to put the rest if the and and start the walls of the second story by the day's end

Tosh would help with the second floor securing it and bouncing a couple times to make sure no one would fall through before heading up and doing the second story walls it took him awhile as he worked on the walls smearing clay and dung onto them just like he did before

Soon the floor was established. She would help with the framing of the rooms and making the walls like they did before. Some of the clay getting smudged upon her clothing and skin. Patches of grey along her form. As they worked, she began to sing a song in her native tongue:

Always enjoyed his wife's singing even if could not understand what she was saying.
The day would end and they would enjoy there supper and then the next day. Would start on the roof this process might take a few days .. but probably not with tosh around they were known for the strength and stamina .
The laying of the tiles and that's was always the monotonous part.

Tosh sighed as he worked it was a long day and they had done much. when they finished he ate dinner and went to bed. he was tired as could be.
The next day he was up before anyone else and working on the roof he was waving to everyone when they came out "about time you slackers." he roared with laughter as he continued working on the roof.
