Maggie wanted to gain experience, she -needed- experience as matter of fact. Yes she had won her first battle with the sef man, but she had barely gotten out by the skin of her back (literally) and that was too close for comfort. The next journey they were being briefed on, required them learning an entirely new langauge. This was no little island set up for trade and colonization, this was an allready established place. That might or might not receive them with friendly intentions .
She wanted to learn from the best and that best Queen General Laelia Kaliba . This also allowed her to spend more time with the only woman she ever had more carnal feeling for . For a moment her eyes lost focus as she thought about laelia for some reason this fantasy would have laelia and herself making sweet love in the middle of bloody battle feild.

Rumour had it there had been an assassination attempt against the Queen's life several nights ago. Aside from the guard being adjusted, there had been few alterations. The Queen and Commander Calidus Thane had proven more than capable of dispatching the would-be assassin.
That being said, it had put the idea in Laelia head that she had not been training nearly enough lately. And so in the palace training yard, there she was. Clad in field plate, she swung her blunted practice sword at her opponent, trading blows until the Queen caught the soldier off-guard with a feint towards his right shoulder. The soldier moved his sword to block at the same time Laelia reversed the momentum of her sword and sidestepped, driving the blunted sword into the back of his knee.
The soldier's knee buckled and his body bowed backwards until he fell flat onto his back. Polite applause erupted for the Queen's successful maneuver and Laelia leaned down to offer her hand to help the soldier to his feet.

" Open your gorgeous wet mouth " were the words Maggie said as the applause jolted her out of her fantasy world . One of the soilder looked over at her "What did you just say to me ?!"
Maggie looked over at him like a kid caught in a candy store . " I said .. I have gourgeous mouse....like a pet . It's grey , but it's really unique shade of grey ....." the other soilder looked at her strangly and just moved away. She needed to stop spacing off. She was a professional, and just happen to have a stunning and exquiste woman for a boss. The boss of everyone as a matter of fact .
She checked one more time to make sure she had her practice blunted arrows . She paid attention to the next fight . She was the next one up . To spar .
" Arrows or sword ?" She less the average with the sword, it was a back up for her she was most adeot with arrows . But she could use practise with both.

"Sword." The Queen said resolutely, glancing at Maggie. "It isn't desirable to take a bow in close range. If you're engaged in melee, you must draw your sword."
Laelia moved to the center of the training ring, taking a stance which was a shoulder length apart, knees bent with her left foot slightly in front of her right. "Let me see your attack."

She nodded she had learned the basic of course that's as far as went she had gone through the drills, the basics kept up.on them but that was as far as it went .She did as lae did, that was your basic sword stance.
In one fluid movement she brought her sword forward protecting herself from any counter attack. she stepped towards with her right foot closing the distance and leaned little bit to the right so she was out of the direct line of laelia . She then brought her sword straight down toward that space between the shoulder and the neck .

Maggie's lean to the right broadcasted her intention, and Laelia half-stepped back and to her right, opposite of Maggie. Simultaneously she lifted her elbow, raising her practice sword upwards to meet Maggie's downward strike. Their blades clashed and Laelia continued the momentum. She leaned forward, extending the sword so that it followed the trail of Maggie's blade towards Maggie's head. The motion shielded Laelia against another overhand strike, and Maggie would have to pull back in order to free her sword up for another swing.

It would be that natural movement for Maggie arms to raise as the the clang of metal and followed the momentum. She had been kicked in the stomach and groin enough with this movement to know . She had to back up or risk it again . She also didn't want to get get bonked on the head either. So moving her head out if the danger zone so to speak . As she backed up she pushed against laelias sword towrds the upper left corner side .with half circle movment. Changing the grip of her thumb as she did so her right hand gave a thumbs up to support the blade as begain she began the thrust towards laelias chest . If anything the movements were well practiced , at least Maggie was keeping the bare basics of sword play even if she has no real finesse.

Finesse came with practice and confidence and it was obvious to Laelia that Maggie had practiced her basics well. She was pleased that Maggie reacted to the movement of her sword in a way that protected her from the anticipated kick. Her soldier was learning to anticipate the next moment of her opponent.
Maggie successfully deflected Laelia's sword to the left. The corner of Laelia's mouth lifted. She'd show Maggie how to use that movement to disarm her opponent someday. The Queen reacted to the thrust of Maggie's sword by stepping backwards and twisting her body sideways towards the inside of Maggie's body to present herself as a slimmer target. Maggie's sword scraped Laelia's armour as she trusted it to deflect the blow.
But now Maggie's sword arm was extended. And Laelia brought her practice sword swinging down towards the bend in Maggie's elbow, intent on disarming her a strong enough blow to force the sword from her hand.

She was actually quite proud of herself for getting this far. And if anything someone was stronger or more knowledgeable as the general and queen of tyran should be compared to Maggie , it challenged her to be better . Maggie would definitely spend more time in sword play now .
Her disarm hit in true form . As it fell with with force to the bend in her elbow it caused the mucles in her arm and hand to release control of the blade and hit the ground with a resounding clang and caused her body to follow the moveme of the sword .
She quickly realized her mistake but perhaps to late as she tried to quickly realign her body and move away from the strike that on the battle feild could possibly end her life .

Laelia followed the disarm through with a backhanded strike, but stopped short as Maggie backpedalled quickly to avoid it. The Queen smiled faintly, relaxing her stance and lowering her sword. "You did well, Sergeant." She complimented. "I'm proud of your progress."
