returned to the Vargo estate in the Carrion Lands. He took time to bathe, change his clothing and compose himself. Half of his bottle of Absinthe was consumed as he did prepare. His mood now mellow and adorned in finery, Mordred actually presented a rather striking figure. He would make it hard for anyone to think he was the monster many assumed him to constantly be. Black silk robes accented with silver embroidery, accompanied by a pair of platinum chains and bracelet, displayed he even had a taste for high end fashion when he did choose to. He allowed the streaks of purple in his hair to be exposed, making himself unmistakable. It was rare that he catered to the visual but the Usurper was one of the most multifaceted individuals ever to walk Tyran. Clearly the meeting he planned to take was of importance and/or he wanted to present something of himself rarely seen. The company he sought would be worth the effort. The invitation was sent to the recluse to potentially meet at a location away form prying eyes and ears. Darkness collapsed around him then, moments later, he emerged in the north at the preordained location.

Adrea sat on the ground, leaning back against a large oak tree. One leg stretched out before her while the other was drawn up so she could rest one arm atop her knee. She looked off in the distance, deep into the distance. Her eyes searched for something no eye could see. She couldn't see it yet either but it was there and it would be coming. She needed to hurry up and find someone with wisdom in Tyran ...wisdom, a long sword, magic that could like totally annihilate worlds...well, just one world...just one little room actually with a rock...just destroy a rock...that couldn't be that hard could it. "Hello Nephew," she called. Slowly she tore her gaze from the horizon and turned it in the direction his scent had come from. When her eyes came to rest on his shape, she blinked again. "Are you all right?" She lifted her hand even as she rose prohibiting a hug or any sign of affection other than the smile.

smiled, "hey aunty." Again the semblance to his mother was not missed and gave him pause. He never cared to try and impress anyone, his aunt for a reason only known to him was different. He held her in the utmost respect. His outward appearance and poise was again out of admiration. One does not just stroll around their elders rude and haphazardly. He made no attempt to physically contact her. He was the embodiment of entropy and death, only Monet could touch him and not be affected by the accelerated affects of decay inherent in his being. "I'm well, how are you?" Before she could respond he would add, "you have no clue how much I appreciate you meeting with me." Was the boogeyman being cordial and nice...actually yes, and was why he wanted to meet with his aunt so far away from anything or anyone. "You seem bothered by something? " Adrea knew her nephew was capable of destroying anything or anyone with the proper motivation and now asked after her. He sat beside the Lycan even as she stood to greet him, it would be rude otherwise and again a sign of trust. He never respected anyone, this was paramount, he wanted no mistakes to send her back to being a recluse.(edited)

Adrea grinned at him. Her eyes followed him as he came closer and then sat down. She sat down with him folding her legs beneath her and resting her hands on her thighs. "Of course," she said of meeting him. "I was sent a missive that found me in my hiding...how could I not respond. It's not every day I get one of those...unless of course they are traps. This isn't a trap is it?" There was humor in her voice but at the same time her eyes shifted and settled on him taking a closer look at him. "If it is...it's a poorly laid one, though sometimes the poorest laid can be the greatest of catchers." She sighed and shook her head. "It's not a trap...sorry...I got kinda carried away there." She glanced around again. "I'm bothered?" she blinked and shook her head. "Oh no, not just a little bit. " She shrugged. "Maybe a little bit. It's a small matter, though. Tell me, Nephew. The other night there seemed something you wanted to tell me."

smiled and let a genuine laugh escape, "like anyone could trap you aunty..." He snickered, but then grew serious, "return to us...so much is wrong..." His jaw clenched. "I am not trying to burden you...I am...I am tired aunty." He glanced up at her and blinked hard and had to look away. "Legendary killers and even divines fall before me..." He shook off the flare of emotion, "no one is what you are, like no one is what I am...one day I will fall, I have begun to fear..." he would have never told anyone other than Adrea that. "This is no ploy to use you or involve you in my shi..." He caught himself before he cussed in front of Adrea. Yes that was the level of respect he held for her... "Sorry.." He corrected himself swiftly. It was rare for him to be genuine. Then he frowned, "can I do anything to.." he struggled with the right words, the silver tongue devil that he was stumbled over his words."Can I help." He went with that.

Adrea bit her lip and drew in a long breath. Her eyes narrowed and she looked away. Return to them? Return? How could she ...return...it was the bane of a halfbreed...to belong but not belong, to know there is a home but not for very long. Return....when she only half belonged? No matter how much the sisters worked to make her feel like she belonged, there was that part of her that knew she didn't fully belong. She rocked back on her heels then rose to her feet, started to pace...already feeling like the cage was closing in on her. She wanted to belong, wanted to be family, wanted it so badly it broke her heart when she thought about it but it was small pain compared to that of which she knew could happen to her heart ...or to the hearts of her family if she stayed. She sat down again looking right at him. There was a wild look to her, one she couldn't explain even if asked. Not telling him how she felt, she focused on his words. "You know I can't fix what is wrong. You know I'm not that ...." she raised her hands in the air and waved as though there were some word there she could pull out of the clouds and thrust it forward. "I'm not a team player." She could be...if she could trust her back. Problem was, there were so many scars there, it was hard to trust someone else. "I can't..." she shrugged. Adrea cleared her throat and then smiled at him. "You know we are not meant to last. We should make the best of what we are while we last." In the brief few words, she had relaxed enough to take in his last question. With a wicked grin she asked, "You wouldn't know how to destroy a magic box thingie, would you?"

he exhaled heavily and swallowed hard watching his aunt. She was troubled, but also one of the most valiant, strong willed individuals he had known. He would not press the issue further. He never wanted her consternation to come from them talking. "I will do anything you need me to..." He grinned, "given the chance." That was the most he would ever attempt in defiance. He remained seated, she was a lycan and read physical motion and emotion better than most. "I didn't ask you to fix anything aunty. You and I are more alike then we both would admit. Covered in scars and refusing to allow the last parts of us that we cling to, ever to be exposed to past hurt and violation. If I did not try though, I could never truly know I am not lost to madness and hatred." His dead white eyes looked directly into her own and he smiled, "this box, if I can do as you ask and destroy it can I ask a single favor..."He held his hands up defensively but playful at the same time, "have dinner with me ever so often and allow me truth with someone other than Monet." His jaw clenched. Again he asked something. The man who could take anything, shook his head, then forced himself to laugh, "your appetite was almost as renowned as my hatred."

Adrea drummed her fingers against her thighs. Her eyes were intense as she looked at him. Could he...he was impulsive and like most impulsive people...herself included, she often passed off that they held wisdom and know how. Fight! Hell yes, they could fight! He spoke of scars and yes, they both had those too...it came with the impulsiveness. Intelligence...it was instinctual and not one of those Sinead or Aislinn type things where you could actually see the gears turning in their heads and wisdom of ages collected within their beings. The impulsive creatures often forgot as much as they remembered and so Adrea had not given thought to test the knowledge of anyone else. Maybe, though. Just maybe it was here. "Madness isn't such a bad place to be lost in. You can leave the hatred behind, I'll admit that but madness...he's a pleasant bedfellow." She shook that off. "Destroy a box for a dinner....destroy a box for a dinner. Sounds fair enough. It's a deal...but you have to promise me you won't die for me. Kill for me yes,....die...I'd have to go in and drag you back. Clear? As for the appetite it takes a lot of calories to run as much as I do, I'll have you know. It's not bad though...eating is as good as it gets to make me happy. "

laughed stood up and would bow to Adrea, "You and Monet have both now asked me not to die..." He shook his head, "it's only out of anger aunty. These simple minded..." he caught himself, "I can't forgive what they did...." he waved it off and sat back down, "yes ma'am ...very clear, no dying...." He laughed again. "you have no clue who my son's mother is then do you..." He smiled again not giving too much information as it truly did not pertain to the current. "I'll kidnap the best cooks in Tyran for ya if need be.." he winked at Adrea. "Thank you..." He had kept her longer than he expected and even managed to not get killed. "This box..do you have it now?"

Adrea arched a brow at him as he started talking about .... what was he talking about? She studied him as though trying to read his mind. She might read body expressions but there was a lot about people that she'd never quite understand and had given up trying. "You can die," she gave him permission, "just not for me..." she shrugged. "That probably didn't sound right but...you know, it is one of those things. I don't want you dying for me. There's plenty other more worth causes to die for. Son?" She shook her head. "I didn't even know you had a son. When did this happen? Was I here?" Did she have the box. She shook her head. "Of course not. It can't be moved. It's why he sent hunters after me. He can't leave the box and the box can't leave the catacomb but...it has to be destroyed....somehow...I suppose that makes no sense. I put the bastard in the box but I couldn't destroy it...and now, he's after my blood. I wasn't exactly thinking anything through when he and I collided."

Mordred Vargo for a moment he did truly wonder if his aunt was crazed. "Yes I have a son...very complicated." He smiled and avoided that conversation and then frowned. "You are worth more than you know aunty. You think I'd face my mother, your sister in the hereafter having to explain I failed you." He snickered, "Hell was easy..." Now it was he that spoke to things she may not have a clue about. His demeanor shifted then and the wicked mask he wore to the public replaced the genuine side rarely scene. "I will not press the issue, again you know your nephew, this he, this box..." He let his words trail off, "when you are ready I will be there and waiting aunty...meal cooked." He smiled and shook his head, "You are not alone even though you choose to be, never forget that please." The please he added made his stoic mask slip. He bowed his head, "alienated by society but blood related always aunty." He looked past her..."time to be the demon again." He inhaled and exhaled slowly, she would see the weight he bore return to his shoulders as he straightened himself. "I...yeah..." he snickered and shook his head..."yeah, that..."(edited)

Adrea realized she'd made no sense at all and it sounded crazy to her when she relayed the whole thing in her mind. and to explain it...the whole story....she studied him. Was he leaving so soon? "That's the funny thing about blood isn't it? It can't be erased. Society can separate but the blood ties can not be severed. It's a conundrum of sorts. Painful and wonderful and all that in between...a shame really." She looked in the direction that he looked. Then she looked back at him, remembering who his father was. Now HE would have been able to destroy the box without thinking. "If you have to leave, I will understand," she said. "If not, I'll tell you the story."

Mordred Vargo _responded swiftly with a wide grin, "their bullshit can wait..." He laughed, then sat back down. He enjoyed his time with her. He could truly be himself. He looked up at Adrea, "Sorry...for cussing but seriously, how often..." he waved it off, "I'm listening." He had stated earlier that this interaction with his aunt was something important to him. "I know how you are about talking and being still...I felt like I was keeping you."

Adrea relaxed and nodded her head. "Talking releases something of yourself to someone else. I hate giving to someone that won't keep it safe. It doesn't happen very often. Being still is overrated." She brushed her hand over her brow. She'd already said too much. She'd already cut the vein and let it bleed. Now she'd just have to see what he did with it. "I have to keep moving. It's just who I am. To stay in one place and to trust...it's just too much to ask. Sinead and Alice, they ask it even when they aren't asking it..." Her eyes widened. "But that isn't the story is it..." She stood up and walked two steps away from him. She pointed off to the east. "In my travels I came across a General in need of a scout. It was good money and I got to run...and eat." She grinned at him. "And occasionally, I got in on the fight. It was good...until it wasn't." she turned back to her nephew. "The General had with him a wizard...weird guy who could look right through me. He and I had a tussle and he got some of my blood. Here's the really weird part. He liked it...said it made him stronger...I think it made him mad. Screwed up his head." She put her finger to her temple and drew small circles in the air next to it. "Big time." sighed. "It drove him to do some really weird things. He set traps for me, went against the general, turned on the entire army and lured me into the catacombs below this old town in the eastern deserts. There he had this box. He was seriously thinking about locking me in the box...me...like that was going to work right? Then he could use my blood any time he needed it. Like that was going to happen, right?!?! Well, it didn't happen. I locked him in the box instead. It like shrunk after he wrapped himself up in it and it rests on this stone thing in the center of this room. No big deal...done deal in fact. But it wasn't. Hunters started coming after me. The first two were pretty easy but they are getting smarter as they come and they are...evolving ... in the way that predators and prey coevolve throughout the generations of speciation known to our kind. Only....like fast. They are getting smarter and faster...and, I hate to say this but it's slightly intimidating."

listened intently, taking in every word. Adrea and he rarely if ever trusted anyone anymore, scars and all. The fact she allowed him to know her story meant she may genuinely trust her nephew with her back. He took a pride in that he would never display outwardly. Not an arrogant pride but something humbling. No one dared trust Tyran's bogeyman. Someone or something was doomed. Mordred cared and would burn the world for you or never gave a damn. He would make this his personal mission if simply to prove, her trust in him was worth the time she gave. "Aunty..." he selected his words very carefully, "I know you don't believe in fate and you may not outright admit it, but you are here now telling your nephew this story but fear family. Part of you I think knew you could come home no matter what and that someone, even me and my twisted self would be there for you." Darkness danced about him and the Usurper emerged briefly as he spoke, "run no more...from the east, a general, a wizard and a box...and someone dares hunt the sister of my mother....(c)

Mordred Vargo his jaw clenched, "I will solve this for you...I promise you..." He bowed his head, and began to speak to nothing with a distant look, "I failed you...I won't aunty...will you be proud then, finally." He had his back then to Adrea and she would not see him wipe the black tear that he fought from falling." He blinked and seemed to return to himself. Through gritted teeth he continued, "flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood, no one takes from us and no one damn sure will make my mother's sister feel intimidated when I myself hold you in such respect...they made a mistake that will end their lives....I have spoken no truer words in my life."(e)(edited)

Adrea nodded. "Yes, that is the conundrum of blood ties. I feel somewhat safe here...in Tyran but I fear it as much as I love it...loathe and love in the same tie. Weird right?" She tilted her head in that way that canines tend to when confused. "But I also know something of what comes after me and I don't want anyone else hurt. If it's the blood of Dreanna I'm not the only one they'll be after. There's a harvest in Tyran of it. If it's my father's blood, it's an easy fix. I'm all that's left of that." By now, Adrea had literally spewed out more of her little guts to anyone in all of Tyran...Alice included. When he took on his distant look and spoke, her keen ears heard the words but it was her heart that felt them. She started to say something of it but thought it best he the only one the words meant for...he and her sister. "We only have to worry about the wizard and his huntsmen. Everyone else involved is dead." She said the words matter of factly without emotion.

let the wickedness he was known to possess be displayed fully. "No man, no woman, no beast, no God! Has bested your nephew. My magic is unrivaled and no mere huntsman could hope to ever stand against my directed fury." He did something then that may get him killed. He hugged his aunt, as quick as he did, he stepped back defensively. Part of him was compelled beyond words, to through the mere physical contact, prove that he would risk anything, and that he wanted to end this for her and bring her home. Again he took on a lost distant dare even child like demeanor, "she will be proud of me right Aunty." He cleared his throat and frowned. "This is my priority now...my personal vendettas can wait..." He started away from her, emotion affected him in weird ways. "I once knew of a wolf and a raven, his love was so profound for her he died for it, I will not die Aunty...." He was then gone.
