"Come in, Sergeant." Laelia gestured for Maggie to enter the office. "I have received troubling news this morning. The Capitol will soon be under siege, I am told. Already the Temple of Evil, of all people, are coming to our aid. I have sent calls to our allies for them to join in the defense. Make certain your unit is ready. Your commanding officers will be briefed shortly." For such troubling news, the Queen seemed calm and confident as usual.
She moved behind her desk. "But that isn't why I called you. I still owe you that reward for capturing Regnasef. The weapon took longer than I anticipated to be crafted, but I'm certain you'll find it well worth the wait."
From behind the desk she pulled a recurve bow, testing it's weight. It was light and strong, crafted from yew wood. Yew was extremely flexible, yet strong, and was ideal for bowmaking. The stain gave it a rich reddish brown colour, and in it were engraved scenes of storms and wind.
"I give you Cyclone." She extended the bow to Maggie. "It is imbued with elemental magic of wind. I thought it would perfectly compliment your chaotic aspect."

Maggie looked at the bow she took in the details with her eyes first and of course listening to what the queen said how it worked..maggies hands out if reflex dropped the bow she had in her hand it clattered against the ground in her excitement she reached for the bow took it with both hands she inspected it carefully like she would any bow before gearing it testing the weight. Holding it from different angles getting used to it being in her hand. Forming a relationship with it. Though the true power would come as she learned its powers and limitations. " thank you " she said humbly bowing her head

"You earned it, Sergeant. The best of Arisalonian craftsmanship went into that weapon. I trust it will serve you well." She clapped Maggie on the shoulder before stepping away.
"I was sorry to hear about your father leaving. I enjoyed his company and his counsel. If there is anything I can do to assist your family, please let me know."

She nods and shrugs showing very little emotion on the subject
" cowardly men do as cowardly men do."
"My husband has moved in with mother to help with the kids. I give them my wages. Along with Sampson work, we should be able to support her and my siblings. Well, they won't starve to death or go naked. Anyway " she nods
" speaking of which, Sampson wants to start a family I don't ever want to become a mother . I need to make myself infertile." She was quite serious.

"I can't speak for his motivations, so I will defer judgement on them." She said respectfully of her previous councilman. "If your older siblings require employment, I will do what I can to make that happen so you all can make ends meet."
Laelia canted her head and her brow furrowed slightly. "Alright." The announcement Maggie said afterward was a tad confusing. "Talk with me about this." She gestured to the couch. Her tone wasn't commanding, and yet...it was a command.
"I want to make sure I understand. Your husband wants children. You do not want children. So you are looking for way to make yourself infertile without his knowledge?"

Maggie did pick up her other bow now as well and placed them side by side carefully. Sitting on the couch
"yes " she said quite resolutely
" I also plan to take other lovers on my journeys..so that's also to my advantage, being infertile that is, I take a liquid now from the healer Gwen that prevents..but just being infertile woukd solve many problems in the long run "
Laelia sat down and folded her hands in her lap. "And is Sampson aware of your desire to take other lovers? Is this a decision you have made together?" She inquired curiously. The answer would help set the tone for her response.

She thinks for a moment " he knows. He accepts, but it not happy with it. I told him of my..love for " she becomes quiet not really wanting to bring up the situation of her own affections for the queen. Again. " as long as he doesn't know, no harm..no drama. "
Maggie's eyes change slightly as she spoke of the chaos at home. And the chaos she could possibly cause with Sampson she licked her lips ,Her mouth even watered a bit. And she swallowed hard " he accepts my chaos " she finally said.

Laelia gazed at Maggie a long moment, considering her answer. "Does he, though?" She asked then. "If he is not happy with it...and if you feel the need to deceive him to make yourself happy...is that truly acceptance?"
The Queen sighed, leaning back. "I am the last person who should be offering anyone relationship advice, Maggie." She used the other woman's name, denoting that their conversation was 'off the record' and personal. "The gods know I have never been good at them, platonic or romantic. But I have witnessed true love and I have also witnessed what deception does to relationships. I would never endorse deception over speaking the honest truth with your partner."
She raked her fingers through her hair, trying to compose her words. "If Sampson truly wants children, and you truly don't...and if you want to take other lovers." Her face screwed with confusion. "Why on earth did you marry him in the first place? Is that truly fair to the man who loves you?"

She looks at the queen for the first time and perhaps more directly then she ever has before " because he will always give me what I need whenever and where ever I ask for it. He will atay at home. He will take care if me. And he will let me feed on him after I make a mess of his life.. And when I leave he picks up the pieces..so I can destroy them when I come back and he will love me unconditionall, and asks for only a slight bit of affection in return. We have been in love since I was 11 and he 10, no other would do that.." She then sighs " your right.. I should compromise and give him a child"

"I'm not saying you should do that. It's a personal choice. I never wanted children. Now that I find myself with one, I do not regret it. I love my son. But it is not the life I would have chosen for myself. You should know that having a child does change your life. But it doesn't need to change it negatively. My career recovered, obviously. But that is your choice."
"What I am saying is that deception has no place in a marriage. If you cannot be honest with your spouse, there is no future in your marriage. What you just described to me is a marriage where you take everything and give very little in return. And that is not going to be a good marriage, Maggie." She shook her head.
"You say he takes care of you...as his wife, you need to take care of him, too. That is what a marriage is. What you describe is..." Her lips pursed. "He's more like a pet that you abuse than a partner."

She thought about that for a bit and for the first time laelia may have seen a very selfish side to Maggie and " its nature if who I am there have only been two things in my life that have helped to " she was going to say control searching for a different work " reigned in my chaos.. Music and the military, " she said nothing if what their marriage was like Maggie was unapologetically maggie " when I joined, you asked me why, I said I was tired of being victim to my emotions, my chaos..but I still need it, and Sampson provides that outlet and happily, and honestly the more erratic I am the more it arouses him" she chuckled, " I won't hurt my career. As soon as the baby is weaned I will come back to the military, even sooner if I find a nursemaid. Or if takes on Sampson traits." The communication and partnership advice obviously lost on Maggie anywhere else but when she was a soldier. Which was a good sign of Laelias leadership.

"You are chaotic. But you are also kind. I will leave it to you to decide whether or not you are being kind." Laelia smiled slightly, though the expression didn't reach her eyes, and inclined her head. "I can't command you to be a better partner in your marriage, Maggie. A Queen doesn't have that power. But I do hope that your character spurs you to be so. I truly think you're better than this."
She stood. "If you'll excuse me, I have preparations to make. Enjoy your new bow. Dismissed, Sergeant." And then made her way to her desk to resume the morning's work.

She nodded gathering both her bows and leaves. Talking with queen always did her give her many things to think about. Perhaps she did take advantage if Sampson too much. The queen was right Maggie was more than the chaos. She was kind too. And she hasn't been kind as of late.. She left the office.
