It smelled like rain. The pressure in the area almost felt like a presence, and when the clouds came in- it was too dark to really notice them. They blocked out the rip in the sky to the north, and the humidity rose to make the autumn evening uncomfortable- the air charged with potential. It added both to the building anxiety of citizens, and poetically to the hope they clung to. Even in such an uncertain time… the rain still would fall, the wind still rushed through the streets and alleys and around the soaring towers and manned ramparts. When the clouds opened, they did with Victor Kaliba in a fever dream- waking but still wrecked by the traumatic injuries inflicted by his express ticket to the capital, carried by a spear. Insistent on being on his feet, he leaned on a crutch and made his way out onto the balcony of his room. Convalescence, was a difficult thing for a warrior- and in his bed, refusing anything for the pain- he was left alone with his thoughts and demons, and an insistent dream of in which light pierced the darkness… violently.
The gentle fall of the rain was pleasant for now- cooling him and his fever, both from fighting infection, and from the heat of his light infused blood which was right now rebuilding him, stronger he hoped, for what was ahead.

The goddess was silent, but the light would never be idle. Deep within the temple of light sat the petite woman, looking over the map she made that pinpointed the void’s location. Despite what Baracus thought, Sinead and Tyr did work together… maybe not side by side, but… together. Still, his constant meddling annoyed her and she refused to let evil ruin the ‘balance’ she tried to manage.
With a wave of her hand, the clouds pinpointed an area in the capital. They grew dark and dangerous, hanging low over the hundreds of citizens that lived there. However, the target was the one with some of the most protection in all of Tyran.
Oddly enough, in that little circle, the light broke through- almost blindly labeling who the storm was for. Thunder cracked in the sky and drops of rain continued to fall, despite the little patch of light breaking through the storm.
A gentle whisper danced upon the wind. It called out his name:
“Victor Kaliba….”

He was not as familiar with the source of his blood’s fire. He knew of it because of the scroll, the enchanted vellum rich with magic and the scent of a goddess he knew from dreams, and also from one quiet, unassuming meeting. He knew that he was touched by her, by it. He knew it, but he also- like so many other things ignored it. Victor was willfully oblivious of how he made people feel, of how women reacted to his handsome frame and bright smile. He was obvlious, willfully so- of the ruthlessness of his family. He was quick to put his head in the sand- or in the clouds. But as the spray and rain intensified, and the beam of light burst down from a night sky far brighter than any moon- he heard the whisper and knew even without the familiarity.
The presence was thick, thick as the humid air which held the chill of rain against his skin. “Goddess.” He said reverently, a tone that came out of conviction. Since they have met, he had killed hundreds in the Western Campaign. He had ‘covered himself in glory’ as his Father would say, but in that moment- glory felt a lot like shame.

The twins were special to the goddess. They were hers…. she claimed them. The light in their blood came from Rosewyn, but Sinead would expose it to the world. Victor was the easiest to get to, especially because his role to the light was important. But he forgot his way somewhere along the line. Sinead would bring him back.
The goddess was not there physically with him. She didn’t need to be. The words hung in the air with the low and darkened clouds. What was his purpose? Well, Sinead would give him a reminder.
A large bolt of lightning came crashing down at the stone of the balcony before his feet. The electric charge would threaten to take over the boy’s body if he willed it. Victor Kaliba was more than just a soldier destined to win wars or align himself with political marriages. But… it was up to him to choose that path.

Victor Kaliba had no idea that the piercing light that illuminated the balcony was anything more than a momentary blessing, recognition perhaps for sucker punching the Void King and being hurled on a spear back to the Capital.
The Light had always been so gentle. Always so unassuming that he didn't expect the crackling bolt of energy, lightning or other wise to come down- and even if he can't with his injuries, avoiding it was impossible. His body seized suddenly the force of such a bolt enough to rip even him apart, as he felt the energy suffuse bones, and set every nerve ending on fire.
The night shirt he wore was almost immediately burned away, and while his mind seemed to slow in this moment as such energy collided with him his teeth clenched and eyes lost all focus. The lion of a man was wracked with such pain he couldn't even form a word to express it, especially as the electiricity (if that what it was) made ever muscle seize.
Despite the trauma, the pain, and the chaos of the moment, something in him...the Light that came from Prime Source, that which Sinead represented- suddenly flared to life. To be honest... that might've hurt worse.
His balcony over the Capital was visibile now as the site of not only a dazzling radiance, but a lightning strike. If this didn't stop, it might be the site of his corpse.

The burn was something different than the normal heat of a fire. The bolt surged through Victor's body, exposing every ounce of power inside of him. Although it might have felt like the burn would never fade, the actual bolt didn't last long. it quickly moved through the young mans body and then vanished, leaving behind steam.
"Do you remember now?" came a soft voice. She wasn't evil, the light never was really 'evil', but Victor wasn't the kind of person who needed a soft touch. He was, sadly, the first example of how the light wasn't always gentle.

The sensation was strange, and while not strictly riddled with pain, he couldn't help but notice that his legs didn't work and his teeth were chattering as he was humbled, prone before this voice and without any covering. His arm, twitching uncontrollably reached to his wound, thinking it would open- but instead, found only pearlized scar tissue. The sutures had been burned away, the wound itself- closed. Still in the throes of a seizure, he managed a one-word response.
" YES!" It was half confession and half a plea for it to stop. Something in him was changing, warping into something new, or rather becoming the shape it had always been intended.
It felt as though his mind would burst, the sensation of being far removed and yet intrinsic to that around him. Despite his plea...he knew, the Goddess would be finished when *She* was finished.

There was a moment of silence after he replied. The storm still raged on above him, which caused steam to flow off his heated body anytime rain touched it. He was not alone, despite the lack of comfort from the goddess. She was there with him- in spirit at least. She was always there with him.
It wasn't exactly comfort, but the rain would slowly begin to finally cool down his body. His wounds were healed, though if he felt his body, there would be a new scar upon his chest. He was a warrior of light and now he would never forget that fact. The scar took the shape of lightning- a bright, violent, strong symbol of light.

The storm seemed out of place. Verity's eyes narrowed as she followed the trajectory of the lightning to where it struck. The palace. Where was that. In that moment she realized where it had struck. "Victor!" Worry for her twin immediately brought adrenaline to her veins and from the Arisalon camp she disappeared with a thud of her staff to the ground. She reappeared in the central court yard of the palace, unable to teleport inside with the wards that were in place.
She began to sprint past bewildered guards, only allowed entry due to her familial relationship with the Queen. She raced up the stairs, narrowly avoiding skidding into walls before the burst into the room. "Victor?!" She called.

The forked scar, was not so stylized as a young Tom Nickleby. It was jagged and split, pearlized skin that marked him if one looked close enough. It would be a mark that would illuminate as if light and something else threatened to escape him. Bare as the day he was born, he struggled to stand, his legs still turned to jelly. In the rain, he looked up to the sky- the light fading behind the storm clouds- save for the illumination of other bolts.
He did not need to scream any longer. Not at her. Not at the world. "I understand." He said turning over on his back and giving up on standing. This was not a proud moment of transformation. This was a time of humility, where he accepted a role he was born for.
His head rolled back on the floor of the balcony, gazing back at Verity as she came into the room he was beginning to wish he hadn't left. Not to avoid it or anything, but would she of just split the roof? "I'm alright...just can't move. Help?"
"Maybe, It....she...maybe it can talk to you too." He said in a moment that might've sounded cast in delirium, though his eyes looked far more clear than they had in some time. He would've covered up if he had anything that hadn't burned away- and the steam that came off him still hissed as he tried to push up onto an elbow before collapsing again.

"What happened?" Verity demanded incredulously as she rushed forward to kneel beside him. She set her staff aside and reached out to hook her arms under his. "Come on." She attempted to lift him with a grunt. "You're so heavy." She complained with a grumble.
"She- who...talk? What are you talking about? Come on, try to stand. I can't pick you up, you're like lead."

The twins. Suddenly, from within her high tower, the goddess smiled with glee. The moment the young woman touched her twin, a surge of heat would move through her, focused on the palm of her hand. First, the goddess went after the willing warrior, now she would go after the one who didn't even know she had the potential.
"Verity..." The force was wild, but gentler with Verity than Victor. Her powers of knowing the truth could go beyond that, especially when it came to the light. Sinead needed to bring the light into all of them before she could join Avaraine. It seemed unfair to push the light upon them, but they needed to make a choice on whether they wished to unlock their potential or.... well, Sinead didn't like the latter option.
The heat would trace a mark on Verity's palm, her symbol that of the sun. She was the sweet light and heat of the light. A gift from Sinead... if she saw it that way

His skin was hot. Not hot like feverish, hot like a skillet. He chuckled in the rain, despite the fact that he just now could wiggle his toes. She said he felt heavy, but he felt....light as a feather. It was an odd sensation traveling acorss his muscles, his body- a growing power that he couldn't quite grasp.
" Sinead, the Goddess - no. Not just her. The Light. The Prime Source. I heard it. Felt it. Her voice, but....more. Like galaxies exploding into existence- in my mind." He said as he brought a trembling hand to his scalp. Shit. Thank god. Hair hadn't fallen out. Just standing on end, the water helped it smooth back.
" Just drag me a bit inside." he said planting his feet and trying to push off as she pulled.

"You were just hit by lightning, Victor, your addled." She said, reaching for him again to try and pull as he'd suggested. Strangely, he didn't look burned.
"Woah!" Her hand flared with warmth the moment she touched him, as if she had gotten to close to a fire. She wanted to draw her hand back in reflex, but couldn't seem to.
A soft voice spoke her name. Unlike Victor, she had never met Sinead. She didn't know the sound of her voice. But instinctively she knew it was Sinead who called to her. It was something that complimented what was already deeply ingrained in her. The remnants of Dreanna's light unlocked by Sinead's additive.
"I..." She was speechless as she finally pulled her hand away from her brother's arm, pulling it back to peer at the symbol of the sun emblazoned upon her palm.

" Go on then. They've heard you." Came the stoic voice of Trent Kaliba as he stepped past the threshold from the room, and into the rain. A delicious afternoon with Milhin had came to it's natural climax, of which there were several. The conclusion was picking up his child, playing a game of peek a boo involving illusion magic, and a rich dinner with Milhin before he was alerted to divine interference with the wards he had long ago placed on his siblings.
It was evident, that Trent was speaking to the Twins- but to the Goddess herself, concealed in her heavens- but revealed by the marks that showed that the Light was done waiting for the children Arc had sired while host to it's power. A power that not long ago had waned with the rise of Six Gods.
He came, because he found the wards dissolution to be a bit....surprising. The void crystal he had been working on had shattered in his hand, and the void within had, for lack of a better word, died. Inert, and soon faded away.
Feedback? No. It was an energy that the Goddess had imbued in Victor and Verity's power. Something...extra. Something beyond the pale. Trent was wise enough to see that this power was a gift. A gift at an opportune time.

The goddess was proud that she got the both of them before her time ran out. Victor and Verity would feel their energy's heighten- a key was given in order to help defeat not only the void, but any darkness that would try to corrupt them. However, the choice to use their power would still be their own. Sinead was hopeful they would use it.
The thunder clapped loudly at Trent's entrance. He was a bit of a surprise to Sinead, but could work with it. ~Watch yourself, Trent...~ It was a warning. The goddess had nothing against the man, but she sensed the power inside of him. It was most certainly not of the light. She was not here for him, so she moved on.
Sinead didn't have to verbally speak to the two of them, they would feel her there with them. Not only Sinead or the light, but their unlocked powers. Victor was the storm, but Verity was the one that calmed it. Victor was the warrior of strength, but Verity was the will of the mind.

It was like Sinead had given Verity a gentle hug. And delivered to Victor a vicious backhand. Verity sat beside Victor in the rain, bewildered as she stared at her palm while the rain from the storm quickly soaked her to the bone. "Maybe you aren't addled." She murmured, glancing at her twin.
Another familiar voice came from behind them and she turned to see their older brother Trent step out from nothingness onto the balcony. What was he doing here? Her brow furrowed in confusion. Was Trent...telling Sinead off?
"Can you help me get him inside, Trent? You would think for all the times he's been laid out, the gods should have given me super strength, if only so I can pick him back up again." She grumbled cutely as she began trying to pull her twin again.

Trent couldn't help but smile. The Demigod had no ill intent towards Sinead, nor her many followers. The Wizard, Trent Kaliba- however did like keeping notes, and couldn't help but enjoy the opportunity to hear a god clap back.
" You two, I swear. Always getting into trouble." he said giving a long look to the both of them. Then, came a wide grin. He moved to aid them both inside, something he accomplished with magic- instead of his hands. Such channeled light could be... uncomfortable.
" Tell Dad that I visited." He said with a chuckle, and once more he faded into the space between space. This required new calculations. Void first. Then everything else could follow.

"Meeee?" Verity remarked indignantly. Alright, perhaps she had got into trouble a few times. But nothing compared to her twin. And with that, Trent was gone again. "I'll tell him you stayed for a whole five minutes." Verity wasn't feeling particularly sweet at the moment. For Verity, this was downright surly.
But her twin had just been struck by lightening only a few days after being sent crashing into a wall and almost dying. "Kind of?" She sighed, crawling onto the bed beside him.
His offer to read the scroll together startled her. Her head canted as a slow smile spread across her face. Verity couldn't help but feel misty eyed. She nodded quickly in response. "Mmhmm."

Aided to his bed by magic, he would of singed the sheets if not for being soaking wet from the rain. His body was returning to his own control again, he'd be up and at -em in an hour or so.
" Trent's kind of a dick." He said as he arched his back to stretch, shifting up to sit upright against the head of the bed. " And we....might need to start reading this scroll I got together." He had kept Verity away from his training for the most part. Maybe it was because before their Father's return it was the only thing that made him feel close to him. But now... those motivations paled in comparison.
The two of them were called. And a part of them always knew it. Years ago he had the invitation...before the Western Campaign. The cost of ignoring it had been high.

He lifted his arm, his body soon dry from the heat- heat that was now beginning to subside and put it around Verity's shoulders, drawing his sister against him. "Yes, he's definitely a dick." he said with a small chuckle that didn't hurt his ribs, his eyes glancing at the armor of the legion that rested in the corner, punctured by a god-slaying spear.
" The scroll was given to me by Sinead before I left for the Dark Wood and found Kerrigan, Nevaeh and Sedah. It teaches the reader about the Light. It's nature- but also the light within you. I learned how to heal, how to do the little things I do... how to channel my strength. How the light in my body works. I think it might do the same for you."

Sinead didn't like Trent's mannerisms. He would be up to something... She frowned, but that was something she would have to deal with later. Or, perhaps if they accepted the will of the light, the twins could.
The goddess paced in her tower, looking over to a large ball of light that floated in the center. Slowly, now that the twin's powers were unlocked, it would begin to grow and stand alone without Sinead there. Only a few more left to unlock and then she could separate herself in two forms.
"I'm so sorry, Victor... but someone has to represent the harsh power of the light." She spoke to herself as she continue to watch the twins. Victor was leading them both in the right direction, especially now that they had the potential to strike down the void. "I'm sure you're glad that it's you and not Verity." She smiled faintly before vanishing from her tower.
