The Carrion Lands were her destination. It wasn't a place she enjoyed travelling, however it was necessary. Terryn had recovered from their battle against the Void Queen and had been itching to get out and fly, and so Laelia indulged him. The night was lovely for a flight anyway.
The griffon circled the hand-shaped spire and landed in the ashen sands. Laelia stood in the stirrups and swung her leg over the saddle, slipping to the ground.

Mordred felt her feet touch the ashen wastes that was the Vargo homeland. He paused in his conversation with Joshua. He would refocus. "Joshua, one thing we do not do is simply test, we are the final test that ends or breaks the student. What if you fail. Abigail is not to be taken lightly, she has chance on her side when it comes to you, master your form enhance and assure your SKILL." He paused again and would nod, "you honor me little brother for your want to expose but when we lift up a skirt we do it to reveal all beneath it not to peek and run...we are unbound and unbroken. You may not wear the surname but you are a Vargo because of our father Camien." He paused and grew serious. "Hold...A personal matter calls....I know you felt the Queens arrival. I need to speak privately with her." Before a response was issued Mordred vanished from sight into a knot of darkness. Meetings and time with Laelia were rare now....unknown to anyone he had sent a private message directly to her.

Laelia knew that the minute her feet touched the ground, Mordred would be aware of her arrival. "Go Terryn, but stay close." The griffon, despite his fanatic loyalty to his girl, was uneasy in this place and preferred to be in the sky if possible. The moment Laelia granted permission, Terryn was in the air, lazily soaring about and waiting for her.
Rolling her shoulders, she approached the entrance to the spire, senses stretching out to ensure that the wards were tuned to allow her entry. If not, she would halt and patiently await Mordred's arrival.

Mordred sent a thought to Joshua ~Travine is your advantage~ He sealed the area about himself then in a twenty meter radius and sought out his Queen. He would bow slightly as Laelia easily was allowed inside. the entrance gave way to the Queen, and there the boogeyman waited. "My queen." The doors would slam shut behind her and seal the spell fully when she was inside. Laelia knew here, where most knew death awaited. She had nothing to fear.

The door closed behind her and where most would feel a sense of dread or panic, Laelia felt only comfort. Not only in her own ability to weather any threat, but also because she knew none existed here. As the mother of Mordred's child, she was afforded a sort of diplomatic immunity. Or even further, a camaraderie that few could claim with the necromancer.
The corner of her mouth lifted faintly. "Mordred. Hello." She greeted friendly enough. "I received your message. How are you doing?" Laelia asked, legitimately interested in the answer.

Mordred was again able to shift into a genteel almost majestic air with Laelia. He had a dark honor about him that rare few saw or were exposed to. The woman that bore him and Monet a seed, always would be respected, dare even say cared for if she needed it but she was a Kaliba, such a thought, would assume them to be in a needy position. "I am..." He stated casually, "and you?" As he asked his question he made a sweeping motion to further welcome her into the estate. She would notice a stillness now about the place. The twisting darkness had receded to the corners of the room and the stifling feel of dread would never come near the woman. Furniture would seem to move at his whim to accommodate her. It was rare for him even in the slightest to show care or concern for anything or anyone but his twin. Laelia though as in most things was the exception to all rules when it came to him. "Thank you for responding, it has been a while since we, you and I...were allowed to speak. " Carefully he inspected her for any blemish without the obvious intent to assure she was well.

"Of course I would." Laelia said with a flippant wave of her hand as if to suggest his thanks weren't necessary. "I apologize that it's taken me so long to get away." Void business, recovering the Capitol from all of that was busy for a sovereign. His inspection showed nothing seemed to be amiss currently. In fact, she seemed for all intents and purposes, healthy and happy.
She settled in the chair he graciously provided and adopted a casual posture, indicating she felt at ease. "I see your eyes, Mordred." She chuckled. He just couldn't help himself. "I'm doing just fine." Laelia said reassuringly.

Mordred would only nod and take a seat across for Laelia. Always on equal footing, never lording or domineering. She did not register on the board he saw that was Tyran. An Anomaly. Forever the diamond in the rough. "Why are you apologizing to me for a simple matter of...how are you?" There was nothing in his eyes, that he would admit to but (mmhmm) was the thought she knew he would have or his swift assessment would not have even been made. "Laelia, Now that shit is behind you, what next for our Queen. Especially with these new changes in divinity?" Mordred sat foreword, as if sharing a secret conversation with Laelia, words spoken yet unspoken. He never did anything lightly or without forethought. The Queen herself was in the Carrion Lands. "How is our son.." He asked then shifting the focus of the conversation. He had basically, stated no matter the changes, he, they, the twins always watched.

Laelia waved off the apology. They were both moving past that and she wouldn't provide a reason as to why she'd done it. A pale brow raised at his next question. "The new changes in divinity are nothing that particularly concerns me. Gods have never been high on my list of cares. I leave them alone so long as they don't give me a reason to do otherwise." She shrugged.
"Zephyr is well. The Void incident has intensified his urge to train and improve. I get the feeling he believes I'll disapprove if he asks you to teach him. Even if I tell him otherwise. I want you to know that I'm alright with it if you teach him some things. There are aspects of his magic that my family are not adept with."

Mordred would again seem to regard any conversation now with indifference. "They have their supports in the spiritual, you have support in the physical." His eyes, dead white eyes... searched to find her's then. "Anything to drink?" He asked again keeping the conversation easy. He paused. He bowed his head to her and rose and without asking drew Laelia to her feet and embraced her. He then instantly turned his back on her, as he checked an emotional flare. "Mother to the seed, my child's mother, thinks her greatest action could learn anything, from...ME...." He canted his head sharply and his jaw clenched. She had disarmed the Usurper. He narrowed his eyes, and asked again, "anything needed?"

"Precisely." She agreed with a nod at his assessment of the gods. Laelia canted her head briefly. "Scotch, if you-wha?" She was cut off as he drew her to her feet and embraced her. Stunned, Laelia was speechless and motionless. What had brought this on all of a sudden?
Mordred pulled away abruptly and Laelia stared at his back with confusion until he spoke. Ahh. That was the issue. "There's no reason he shouldn't learn from you, Mordred. You're his father. I know you'll do so with care." It was unlikely that Mordred would use the same methods that his own father had used. And unlikely Zephyr would tolerate them.
"Let me tell you a story." She patted Mordred's shoulder lightly before resuming her seat. "When Zephyr was a child, he was often angry and sullen. At just the right age he began to manifest certain abilities, particularly when he would experience strong emotions. He learned shadow manipulation rather easily. But then again, there were never really any major consequences of using that ability. Sometimes he would fade from view only to reappear in a different place. But there was no harm done."
"One day we were sparring. Simple wooden swords and shields. He was perhaps 8 years old. I was being gentle of course, but I had knocked him off of his feet one too many times, I suppose and he became angry with me. He screamed at me and some manner of...entropic force manifested. It completely disintegrated my shield." Laelia smiled at the memory. "It startled me, of course. And completely terrified him. Not because of what it was, or what it had done. But because he had directed it at me." Her smile faded and she sighed. "I tried to reassure him that manifestations of ability like that are natural at that age, and that no harm was done. But he was so afraid of what would have happened if I hadn't raised my shield in time. Zephyr suppressed it. And no manner of effort has managed to make it manifest again."

Mordred's lips curled into a sneer. He heard and processed every word Laelia had said. The issue for him was not what the young man did out of emotion, but whom it was directed at. A son's first duty is protect his mother. Again he processed things on levels deeper despite his own wickedness. Lord help the child that was fathered by Mordred, raised by Laelia that acted out of place to the point where she now told his father...Mordred, of all fathers. His only response, "I'll speak to him." There was an inflection that assured Laelia their son would never be without direction. He was a bridge between two powerful families. A lot rested on the youth. The Kaliba's were controlled. It was interesting though the boy managed to surprise Laelia. She knew what sat across from her right now though. She did so with an ease only a handful of others could dare. She had created something with the twins. "He has very powerful uncles, cousin's on your side that can equally match what I may be able to skill wise, but the rage and madness his blood carries. Only you his first love can every truly reach. Any direction I assure will be better than mine own. I owe you that much."
He allowed the moment then moved past it. He became distant. "You, though is what I initially asked about. What are your plans. You cannot rest not now. You lay the foundation for those on the road to their new faith. The dark seems to have a greater grasp than the light, paramount to me is to help our son...always be able to apply rule number...one" He canted his head to one side again this time with more poise and with a dark charm.

Laelia sighed. "Don't make that look, Mordred, he was 8 years old and it was the first time he'd ever manifested anything like that. He didn't do it on purpose. And it shook him so badly he wouldn't even try to pull it back out again. He's not that child anymore, Mordred. Don't judge him based on an 8 year old's anger and lack of experience. Please."
The focus of the conversation was brought back to her. "My plan at the moment is to watch and learn. Take a full measure of these new gods. There is currently no need to act. But I will be ready if that changes. So far as I can see, there are few changes in the temple players. I imagine their actions will only be slightly different with new leadership. Time will tell."

Like the complexities of their relationship so the conversational exchange would be. "No look my Queen, nor any judgement, especially of the child I had no hand in raising. He may be another prodigy of the line but darkly kept as Lyf truly holds tenets of creation." He was rambling but the idea would from then on plague him. Again his reaction turned to the response she made in regards to what she had planned. "The rock they cling too and the anchor in the storm..." again his mind worked through so much that he wanted to say to Laelia but knew he could nor would not keep her long. "It was wise not to involve yourself... letting Tyran's heroes do what they do best. The outcome was destined. I held the dark once, and if i can't crush this land nothing truly can." Her scotch finally arrived....

Laelia nodded. "I provided support if it was needed, and if necessary I will take the field. But the younger generations can not find their places and learn their responsibilities if the 'Old Guard' does all the dirty work for them all the time." She smirked at him. "Let the Gods change like the daily specials at the market. I will do my best to provide physical stability and order in the spiritual chaos."
Her scotch arrived and she accepted it with a warm nod of thanks and would enjoy the remainder of the evening discussing various topics with her dear friend and father of her child.

Mordred would notice eventually Laelia had allowed her eyes to close. The warrior Queen, rested around the bogeyman. He sat her scotch aside. She knew here, she was as equally guarded as she was in the Capital or in her father's home. Things, incorporeal hands, drew a cover over their Queen. A pillow would cradle her head. He left the room and closed the door behind while nodding to himself. The room was guarded beyond guards. She would rise when she realized she drifted off and would again find her path unhindered. Around her throat though would be a necklace composed of three stones crafted just for her. The three stones, black diamonds that were strung together by a minor assortment of lesser white diamonds to a platinum encased bloodstone, carved with a Z in it's face. The central bloodstone dangled from the three black diamonds . On the back was an inscription, "always watching."
