"Honestly Elyn?" he said before admitting. " I've started reading Ovid. He's so delightfully mundane. I didn't think such a man lived in our people's culture. But yes...Right now. Ovid. Besides, he has tips for me you know. Now that'd I've snared you, I must keep you." he said with a smile that held innuendo instead of just plain joy.
He shifted closer, the temptation not declined nor resisted as he rested his frame against the table, his waist currently between her knees. Hands were idly at her hips neither moving nor intense in their touch, just patient. Patient... but committed. In truth, he could not deny it. Today, it seemed she had snared him.

"Ah, the roman. Yes...." Admittedly, she didn't know everything by heart. "Lovers all are soldiers, and Cupid has his campaigns...." She waved her hand at the thought. Knees gently squeezed at his hips. "Keep me? Well that's good. Here I was worried you were going to drop me off at some port half way through our adventure." She joked.
She wanted... needed to touch him. She leaned forward just far enough that she rest her arms on his shoulders and lace her fingers together behind his back. She thought about asking him flat out if he wanted her still, but she knew the answer. Instead, she said, "we have all the time in the world today. Everything out there doesn't matter." The joking faded.

"Nothing else ever does. Not truly. As long as there is ground to stand on, I will do so with you. To hell with the rest of the world." he said in a tone that showed while these words were dramatic, they were honest to a point. He really couldn't be bothered with anything, but Elyn Kaliba. The woman he loved- though damned if he was, he could never say it. Not now. It seemed as if too much weight and their world would snap.
Her embraced did actually snare him, he loved the way she made it tight, the snug lace of her fingers that pulled him near. Silence filled the space between them for one moment, two moments and inevitably they'd need to speak, but the room was so cozy, so private. The smell of the rich leather covers, the wood- the scented oil within the lamp. It was a nice place to be alone...He was not the one to break silence, or his gaze which grew in evident hunger as humor had left and been replaced by something different.

Brows rose at his words, but she soon gave him an understanding smile. He was always able to explain how she felt, it was strange. Nerves returned, but they were nothing compared to other emotions. She barely even hesitated in leaning forward to press her lips against his, one hand resting at the nape of his neck, while fingers toyed with the strands of his hair. She didn't need to speak, she had other things to do with her lips.
She still moved slowly, as if trying to figure out how things worked and whether they recovered from yesterday's... interruption. She also moved slow because there was always the chance that now wasn't the time.

There was nothing to recover from, his intent growing to yield to her wants- his own wants growing to subjugate all reason. The taste of her lips made him drunk, his frame relaxing against the table as an arm snaked around her and pulled her forward to meet him, when the kiss broke he took in air in a gasp, a show of how little control he had left. "You are all I wake up mindful of, even if I am not with you. How have you done this? Become queen of my mind..." he said as he turned his lips to find his favored parts to tease and taunt, kissing down from jawline to throat, and pushing the fabric of her dress to reveal her shoulder.

Her body moved with ease against his, her skirts lifting as she shifted her hips so that her legs to easily wrap around his. Her chest rose and fell quickly to match the fast pace of her heart. He made it hard for her to breath. She pulled back one of her hands to rest against his cheek, letting her eyes take him in.
"I don't know, but I never want to leave...." She felt surrounded by him in every way, but there was no feeling of being trapped. Elyn saw him in her daydreams, when she slept, and when she woke up. He was everywhere. She took in a small heated breath as her head tipped to the side, the hand that was on his cheek dropped between them, toying with the edge of his shirt.

Looking down he kissed at her wrist, the outreached hand of hers giving doting affection across the knuckles, his breath to spill against her hand. He guided her hand away, moving it to rest upon his thigh below the pocket of his trousers. He couldn't resist the moment, and as the smooth texture of her skin soothed, like cream colored silk... his shirt suddenly felt horribly uncomfortable. He was sleight of frame but not without muscle, well formed and cut underneath the modesty afforded his clothing. He was tall, and would be lanky if not for that athletic build. When he removed his shirt he dropped it to the left. "Good." he said to her words, his arm around her returned as hand snuck up her back to the back of her neck.

He had her so curious. She watched with affection in her eyes as his lips brushed along her bare skin. The whole room fell silent minus the smooth flow of their breaths. The moment he was done leading her hand, Elyn continued to explore on her own. Resting between her own legs and against the front of his trousers, Elyn let her fingers trace the outline of his hidden member. It was a slow movement, yet teasing. With the removal of his shirt, Elyn was reminded of the moment before they were rudely interrupted. Now they could continue.
She leaned herself forward, bending at the will of his hand behind her to let her lips gently drag along his jaw, up to his ear lobe were she nipped at him playfully. She thought she had no idea what she was doing, but Elyn felt this sensation and dark thoughts before. She just never had anyone she wanted to play it out with. "Ardyn," she whispered his name with a slight plea in her voice. Please let this be the right time.

It had nearly sounded sing song that siren's plea. Whatever resolve that hidden, was long since dug out of him and cast aside. "Yes..My Elyn..." he answered, replying as if it were a question instead of request- The possesive at her name, was something he had never heard himself say. He hoped she enjoyed hearing it as much as he had. His hand ran up her thigh the other cradling the back of her head, until the hand at thigh went round and found the upper curve of her derriere. Her dress, an obstacle he could not abide, he began gathering after he'd squeezed her backside.
"Tell me no one will come looking..." he said as his fist bunched in fabric drew her skirt high enough for eyes to catch glimpse of bare skin, stockings- anything he had not yet been rewarded sight. His back had arched, and hips flexed at her teasing touch.

The exhale was between a sigh and a laugh at the sound of 'my Elyn'. She was his... And she wanted to make sure that was true in every way. Her hips moved upwards as his hand found her rear, causing her hips to slip forward.
"There's not even a door to come looking," her breath was heated with desire and want. Suddenly she felt as if the dress was too hot- everything was too hot. Ardyn was rewarded with simple attire, mostly because she had wanted to make thing easier on both of them when this did happen.
No one ever came looking for them. For the first time, they managed to spend the whole evening together hidden in that little room. Elyn truly became Ardyn's that night.

Such hormones were a poor explanation for just how deeply Ardyn pledged himself to Elyn. Through the turmoil of that period, they prospered until finally being able to leave on their journey to see the world outside of New Arisalon.
Ardyn wasn’t sure what to make of the evening last night, but he did know he needed to make good on their getaway before someone changed their mind. The fact that their adventure had turned into something similar to a peacekeeping mission had not escaped him, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that things despite the apparent simplicity would soon be complicated.
He had a kind of guilt about Lilwen, Verity, maybe even Zephyr. Sure, Verity and Zephyr were younger, but Lilwen- well. Lilwen was being left because well, they weren’t going to be kissing her. He knew it was more complicated, but something felt odd about being the cause of any division between Elyn and her “newest, bestest, friend” to quote Lilwen’s vernacular.
Ardyn subdued his guilt by assessing just what they needed for their trip. With coin earned from a few wise sales of old gear and treasures, he purchased the packs they’d need- the rope, the torches, the necessities they would need and some of the luxuries they’d want. Life was going to be different on the road, and without magical travel- something they’d be foolish to use often, it would take time to get from inn to inn, many nights to be spent under the stars.
The romance of all of it was not lost on him- and his own selfishness made a convincing argument against guilt of any sort.

Elyn needed to speak to both Shelzi and Reign, but those would come later. After last night, Elyn spent most of her time in her room starting to officially pack what she could. She was a simple woman- with no need to pack fancy gowns and such. Besides, some of that could be purchased if needed. The less they brought with them, the better. One thing she did check was her own savings. Having never been on an adventure before, Elyn was knowledgeable on financial things, but a little naive. She had gold- that wasn't much of an issue, but how to spend it was.
No matter how much she tried to focus on packing, she couldn't help but feel guilty the entire time. Verity and Zephyr were more likely to understand- she came to New Arisalon often and always left. Surely none of them thought she would be around forever? But then there was Lilwen. While she turned out to be family through Shelzi's side, Elyn felt a pull to Lilwen that was different than just familial ties. Lilwen was her closest companion. Elyn spilled most of her secrets to the girl that Ardyn didn't need to hear. And now... she was leaving that behind.
To make things worse, Elyn tried to explain to herself that it was okay because this trip was about her and Ardyn exploring their own relationship. And as much as Elyn loved Lilwen, Elyn had no intention to letting Ardyn kiss any other person as long as she could help it.
The girl groaned in frustration, falling back onto her bed with her hands over her face. The unlit candlestick at her end table flew off the table and slammed into the wall by the door. The holder fell to the ground with a loud clatter.
The only thing that seemed to calm her was the fact that despite all the guilt and the new request from Trent… she was finally leaving New Arisalon with Ardyn.

The clatter had almost chased him off, but he knocked anyway- supplies packed carefully within two rucksacks, one quite small- the other larger and balanced for their bodies. They’d be traveling lighter than some, and the rucksacks had plenty of room for another bag to fit inside it, if not attached to it.
“Elyn, are you okay?” he called out attempted to test the doorknob. Remembering whose house he was in, he didn’t- but he did allow the flow of magic in his body to amplify his senses, hearing specifically. It was incredible what the flow of magic in his blood could do when he focused, and after his last morning ‘lesson’ with Reign he had some level of confidence in his ability- along with a silver bracelet of seemingly seamless construction around his wrist.

"Ardyn?" She pulled herself up from the bed to open the door, facing him with a small look of frustration. But Ardyn was not Verity and Elyn was able to pull her lips into a smile and lie. Not that it was all a lie... Ardyn had this way about him that always made her smile even through their awkward moments.
"I'm fine, just..." She looked down at the holder and kicked it aside. "Just losing track of things." Elyn stepped back, opening the door for him. It was only after she invited him into her room that she realized this was the first time he was in it. Was this okay? She felt the heat on her cheeks.
"I'm... just trying to pack a few things for our trip..." Her eyes danced around the mess of the room, certain that she shouldn't have invited a boy into her chambers. For one thing, there was a bed and Ardyn in the same room... for another... it normally wasn't this much of a disaster. "Do you think it's very fair of us to leave them all like this? Lilwen was invited to stay here by my family and now we're just... leaving her behind for a little while."

He tried his best not to look around too much when entering, and he found himself giving her a broad smile at at least half of what she said. When it came to this whole, ‘fair’ topic the smile fell a bit before fading away entirely.
“I’m not entirely sure, Beautiful.” he said unable to help himself. There was something very attractive about her in the morning. The sun from the window caught in her hair, and those violet eyes held no threat but hope he’d come to expect. She wasn’t like the rest of the Kalibas and privately he maintained she wasn’t like any other woman, anywhere.
He couldn’t afford to get too lost in her when she had a question he had been wrestling with all morning. “I think it’s not the ‘nicest’ thing we’ve ever done, but it’s certainly fair. I’ve even wondered if inviting Lilwen is the best idea. I didn’t bring two tents.” he said pointing to one of the bags he put down in the floor. If he was bothered by the mess it didn’t look it.
Ardyn couldn’t understand fully what two girls fulfilled for each other in such a friendship, but he was wise enough to understand that it might be important later. “We could send for her- take the trek to Silem, go the long way and have her and Phaen meet us there?” He offered solutions, an ear- but no lips. The fact he was here in her chambers did not escape his notice.

She avoided the bed, taking a seat on the small bench in front of the window. Elyn always appreciated the kindness that went into decorating her chambers. It was a simple design- a wardrobe, a vanity table, a bed, and a small desk. But her favourite was the bench that overlooked the city.
The scowl she tried so hard to hide wasn't done so very well. She clearly had no intention of allowing the three of them to share a tent and she was certain he didn't either. Besides, Elyn just imagined Lilwen being far too awkward to even sleep at all with such an idea.
"I know we will both get over it." Her faster than Lilwen she was sure. Elyn, after all, was the one who was exploring Silem with Ardyn. "We can think about it after speaking with Nilsia anyways. Maybe we'll need her?" Now it was getting to a point where she felt more guilty for not needing Lilwen. Not in the same way as she needed Ardyn anyways. "I think it's just the horrible timing, really. Right?" She searched his face for some sort of signal that it would be okay.

“It is…” he said with a slightly questionable air. “But...I feel like the two of you are close. Maybe we leave a token with her? Something we can communicate with? Like one of those sending stones.” He said with an encouraging nod. He tried to assure her, but he couldn’t help but feel the same.
Then again, he was traveling with the woman he loved. Did he want a tag-along? Even if she was someone as connected to them as Lilwen? He suddenly understood why he had kept himself distant from those he had met in his travels. This kind of intimacy, while a hallmark of growing older- was complicated. Too complicated.
“ I think it’ll work out regardless. We just need to show Lilwen she’s loved before we go. She’s got a thunderbird, right? I mean how lonely could she be? Besides, has she met Verity yet? Victor? Really got to know them?”

Violet hues lit up at the suggestion, rushing to his side and placing a hand on either side of his face. "Why didn't I think of that?" Elyn knew Tyran to be a big and wonderful world and she was so focused on leaving her parents behind in the sense that she was moving out for good that she tend to believe it was goodbye for a while.
"If we need her," and she did believe eventually they would, "then we can send her a message of where we are." Lilwen might not have had magic, but she had other skills.
Her hands dropped to her side, nodding. "Yes, and I'd like to introduce them. I think Lilwen came to New Arisalon for a reason... Perhaps she'll move on to the next part of her plan too."

Ardyn looked a bit foolish when she squeezed his face in her hands, eyes widening as his hands met her frame by bracing over her hips.
“Plan?” he asked curiously. “What was her plan?”
Ardyn may of been a bit naive, or perhaps absorbed with something or rather someone else. He had never really thought Lilwen had ‘plans’, goals, or ambitions they could help with. It was at that moment that he realized that despite his intentions, he really hadn’t got to know anyone but Reign and more importantly- Elyn.
He considered that epiphany before filing it away and moving to Lilwen’s favored bench. “Considering Trent’s returned, I imagine Lilwen will have loads to observe, people to meet” he added.

"She said something about coming here to learn about her long-lost family." Elyn blushed at feeling guilty for not remember too much about it. Lilwen and her didn't sit around swapping stories all day. Usually, they were getting into trouble together or talking about boys. "She's related to the Vargo bloodline, surely she would eventually want to get to know them more. Especially Zephyr..." She was lost in thought, casually returning to her seat and glancing at Ardyn.
"Are you ready for this?" She just noticed that they were spending a lot of time talking about other people when they were about to leave together. "I mean... For me it makes everything seem so much more real. Despite all the trouble we went through, it will be different once we leave here. No more secret late night dance lessons or library rendezvous. Or feeling trapped."

“Hm.” He said as he looked out the window. It was funny. Years ago he would of thought that once he made it to a place like this, he’d be finished. He used to think that finding out where he came from would somehow change him- lead to some grand destiny. Instead, he felt like he had stolen a life along with a heart. He looked at Elyn with an appreciative glance that turned into an admiring stare.
“You’re right. It is going to be different. No one is going to ‘make us’ act any particular way when we walk out of those gates. We’ll just be two people on the road and little else. I think I can be ready for that- but what about you? I get the impression family is something you’ve searched for, you’re about to leave them- the close family and extended to travel with some strange boy.” He said in counter, his tone jesting but all the same pointed.
“Also- completely unrelated, I’m pretty sure Lilwen isn’t related to you unless Shelzi actually marries Reign.” he said with a shrug. “Random I know.”

Elyn leaned against the edge of the window, staring out at the city. Every now and then she would steal glances Ardyn's way and when their eyes met, she would smile at him.
"I think I've been ready to do this for a while now. I never really had any worries since I found the Kaliba's." Particularly Reign. In case it wasn't obvious, she was a daddy's girl. Shelzi was more than just a mother figure and at times the word 'mom' would even slip out... but Reign, when she did finally find him, was the last puzzle piece she spent her whole childhood looking for. And now she had aunts, uncles, and cousins! There was also her new little sister who she couldn't wait to meet. Still.... "I wasn't really sure of my direction though until you came along and pointed me the right way. My aunt Laelia, my parents, my grandparents.... they all have so many stories to tell about their lives. I want some of my own. I'm happy to share it with you." She grinned, leaning forward to place a soft kiss at the corner of his mouth. "Strange boy..."
She pulled back, thinking on the family tree. "Well... I'm sure my father will know to gift Shelzi with a ring eventually. Maybe."
