By the time they reached the capital, Elyn heard of the coronation taking place. She begged Ardyn to go, mostly because she knew some of her family would be there plus it gave her a chance to wear something nice.
Elyn sheepishly turned down the announcement of their arrival. However, unlike their last formal dance, the young woman was not about to turn down an opportunity to keep Ardyn by her side.
"I think Zephyr might be here," she whispered to him.

"My lovely Sune, sometimes it is that mask we wear of confidence that protects us from others seeing the weakness within. As for why I am nervous this is a large gathering of many important members including yourself." Wulv would emphasize this point knowing Sune did not feel of any significance even though she was. "It is a perfect time to try an attack either here, or at our homes while we are away."
Wulv gave a greeting to Cairogen and patted Sune's hand as the two had discussed family it seemed and being associated with the past evils a kinsman might have done. This gave Wulv cause to chuckle lightly at Sune's mention of their brother, not because of the brother but because of the line they would speak following it, "or worse yet me." Wulv had had many demons in their past some they showed, some they showed only a few and Sune would know some of Wulv's worst offenses, but still not the worst at least in their opinion. For the worst was betraying Sune. "As for your relative Cairogen my friend they are not you so do not let these folks pin on you something you had no hand in." Wulv then lowered their voice to a whisper so only those closest could hear. "Besides probably did a lot right of these folks good in the end. Do not misunderstand me death is a tragic thing. But to have become as stagnated as some of them might have been." Wulv gave a small shrug not wanting to get into it anymore. "Excuse me a brief moment."
Wulv stepped away and made their way across the room to Laelia and stood before her giving a small nod of their head. "Greetings General and honour to see you once again."

Thing had seen several more enter and introduce themselves to the queen. Some of which she still found easy to mock, while others she found to be quite respectable. The hardest was a young man she felt a bit sorry for as his nerves seemed to get the better of him. She tried her hardest not to laugh here as well and keep composure offering Jacob Tanner a smile after the introduction he gave the queen trying to reassure him.
Soon she was gone with Protea to help her get ready. She moved about aiding the queen in however she needed in between times pantomiming just how hard some of this was and how much fun she was having at the event.

Cairogen nods and returns the hug "Oh, i know, and it doesnt really phase me what they think of me honestly, most of the populace i could wipe out if i wanted after all. What annoys me is how it will effect business dealings and those i associate with. The stigma can cause effects too others that have nothing too do with Lycard" He shakes his head and sighs "Human fear can be a nasty thing after all" He looks around the room, noticing Protea go to get ready and looks between all the guests.
Cair looked back too Wulv as they talked and nodded "Well if they want to fear me i could always just go wild and let the darkness take hold, give them a real reason too" He heard his whisper and nodded "True...but small minds have trouble grasping the idea that darkness is needed to repel that stagnation." When Wulv excused themself he nodded too them and looked around again. "I wonder how many in here dad knew...just out of curiosity and all..."

It was time. As the people had their chatter in her absence, she was changing her outfit to a new dress. It was a deep blue with highlights of lighter blues throughout it. When she returned, there were others moving in with her that hadn't been there before. She motioned for where 'Thing' should stand and then she moved ahead of her throne and to a table that had been placed down. A man, who seemed to be a known official in the city moved in front of her. A younger girl stood next to him holding a pillow with a crown sitting on it. Those who were paying closer attention would notice that this was not the Ebony crown. It was a new one, fashioned in gold with ringlets of hearts and jewels inset into each heart. It looked a lot less impressive than the ebony crown, perhaps more modest in size. Protea raised her hand and cleared her throat to gain the attention of the room. Once it settled and became quiet, she began. "Greetings citizens of the Capital and visitors from afar. My name is Protea Kyanite, and I have come here to serve the Capital as its new Queen. The previous Queen, Sapphire Vargo, handed the crown over to me as long as I met her conditions. Those conditions are being met tonight, as I invite the heads of clans and cities to meet with me after the celebrations are over to discuss the forming of a council. I come here tonight before you all to swear myself to serve the Tyran Capital and its people to the best of my ability. I thank you for your time in coming to witness this, and I invite you to stay after for the celebration masquerade dance. After, my guests invited here will meet with me in the morning." She looked around once more and then moved before the man dressed in formal robes. She kneeled in front of him and looked up at him with her hand clasped and held over her heart. He began: "Do you, Protea Kyanite, swear before the people to serve the Capital and put its needs before your own. Will you protect it, and nourish its advancement so long as you are Queen?" "I swear it," Protea said loud enough for all to hear. "With my authority and the official witnessing of the people, I hearby grant you officially the title of Queen of the Tyran Capital." With that, he lifted the crown from the pillow the girl held and moved a step forward, lowering it onto Protea's head. He turned to the people. "I present to you, Queen Protea Kyanite of the Tyran Capital!" She rose to her feet with a smile and met as many people's eyes as she could in her moment before them. Then, she turned and with 'Thing' helping her she got settled back into her throne once more. The servants moved the table up closer to the throne and set out chairs. It was a large table that could fit several people who wished to sit and talk with the Queen while enjoying the refreshments. With a wave of her hand, the music began and the official celebrations of the coronation were to start. -Part 2 Begins- The Masquerade (OOC: At this point, it is up to you if your character remains or leaves. As I hinted before, things aren't exactly as they appear to be in this event. So think carefully now incase you were thinking to have your character leave just because they don't like a dance. Part 3, the meeting, begins once part 2 has concluded. You'll now post interacting with one another or approaching the Queen with questions and conversation at her table. My next few posts will be in response to you all, and then there will be another official post for part 2 coming on August 1st. Continue in this same thread please.)

My question is how do you intend to enter the current balance? as an equal to the 3 or as a higher authority?

ellinaProtea watched as a woman approached and bowed before getting straight to work with political questions. She almost chuckled but just offered a polite smile instead (the mask had an opening at the lips so this could be seen) as she listened. "I have an alliance currently with Xenothrin. Though I shall always put my Capital first in defense, I intend to listen to my council and what they have to say. How many people I put on this council I have yet to decide. Tonight, why not enjoy yourself however hm? There will be plenty of time to talk of the council in the morning. I do not mind if you sit and discuss other things though." She adjusted the mask on her face and glanced over to 'Thing' at her side.

Ronnie walked around continuing to ponder his next move, when suddenly the coronation ceremony began. Ronnie would approach the soon to be queen as close as he could get. There were still many in front of him.
The whole event was both over and underwhelming just as he expected. There was a new power in Tyran's capital and Ronnie knows just about as much about her that he knew about her predecessors. Ronnie wants to know where she stands: is she a pawn of the past royal family, does she have her own agenda or is she just selected because she was the best person to usher Tyran into its next chapter.
All of those questions and more plague his mind as he had to know what this would mean for his family as well as himself. Ronnie claps along with others as she was officially pronounced queen. Ronnie carefully listened to the instructions for the next part. Ronnie still didn't feel it was the time to try and approach the queen.
Ronnie manage to snag a dance partner and would dance in rhythm with the music. Making sure he was the lead so that he could ensure he could remain in listening distance to the queen and her conversations. He was not surprised that the queen gave a bunch of safe answers. It was obvious he and all of the other patrons would be curious of Protea's ambitions.
Ronnie learned though that she had serious considerations on a council and Ronnie could not decide if it would be beneficial aiming for a spot or not. For the moment Ronnie would dip his female dancing partner and would take a moment to look in the direction of the queen with interest. This look only maintained for a second as he resumed his dancing.

The smile from Thing, though he wasnt entirely sure what the Thing was, did help to ease his nerves. Only slightly though. He was, after all, still in a room full of people with drastically more wealth and power behind them then he did. He would not readily forget the kindness shown by Thing, however. Now that the masquerade had begun, Jacob donned his ceremonial helmet, thus completing the ensemble. Unfortunately, in the midst of the current crowd, he looked more like he was in attendance as additional security rather than a guest. With few people giving him a second glance, that was exactly the role he defaulted into. Once, about seven months prior, he had been assigned to Laelia's extra security detail when she had visited their camp for inspection. Granted, she had brought her own personal guardsmen and Tanner hadnt been allowed anywhere near her, but he did have some experience keeping the watch. And so in his full service dress he began his time a temporary silent sentry. Pacing up, down, and through the crowd. Trying to act as inconspicuous as possible, he wouldnt harass or stare any of the guests down. Jacob merely weaved about, keeping a keen eye on the ongoings, ready to report should he see anything amiss. Strangely, this all actually worked to calm his nerves. No longer did he have to worry about the looks or how to act near the elite. His only care was protecting the queen. Not that he expected trouble--this is just what soldiers were comfortable doing. It was their element. And Jacob was just starting to thrive in it. Jacob's Helmet:

Wulv would excuse themselves from Laelia after watching the coronation and move back toward Sune. "May I have this dance my love?" They asked giving sune's hand a kiss before leading them in a dance. "How are you doing love? Is this everything you hoped it would be? And our child how are they?" Wulv asked a few small questions throughout the dance. But soon would fall silent and just hold Sune close to themselves and let the silent moment pass which echoed the love they had for each other, a silence, a void in which no words need be spoken for their hearts beat as one and would fill any void that may try and swallow the precious sight.
After the dance Wulv would take a deep breath. "Perhaps we should sit? I think the child is demanding it of me." Wulv smiled at Sune for it was a half wolf mask so the mouth could still barely be seen.
Wulv approached the table cautiously. "So Queen Protea, you seem to have appeared from out of the blue to seize control of the capital, might I ask what right you have to this over the likes of say the General? I mean no offense by the way, just a curiousity that has arisen. Why should the people pledge their allegiance to the capital once again?"

The coronation went off without a hitch and soon Thing would be sated by the queen as others began to dance or chat with the new queen.
Thing looked to the queen behind her broken doll mask and well as bound to do remained silent and mute incapable of speech even if she wanted. But in this case silence was better. the focus was to be upon her mistress and if she answered or interjected it would undermine the queen's authority.
Thing watched the dancer and wanted so bad to dance maybe with the queen as she was all she knew, but the queen was busy. So Thing sat watching and saw the young man she smiled at before patrolling the area. Thing tilted her head to the side watching the young man. Jacob seemed at home doing that. Maybe he wouldn't need or want her bothering him. Besides should she even stray from the queen?
She let her eyes fall to others like Ronnie, and the couple of ladies dancing pointing them out to the queen when they were approached once again. Thing did not like the tone this one took either, though they seemed to mean no harm it was as though they challenged her mistress and the woman had no right to. Thing was ready to stand, but then sat herself back down and made it out as though she needed to straighten her skirts. If there were any real danger the queen would have the guard take care of it and escort this one out.

Not many chose to approach it seemed, and she was okay with that. There were protocols, manners, stations... all that royal stuff she had to brush up on recently to learn the proper ways of acting like a Queen. Thing stayed close to her and she smiled to the girl, watching her eyeing the dancers. "You can go mingle if you like. It should be safe enough to do so, and I'm fine here. You have already helped me immensely," she praised her with a kind smile. "Go dance, explore, mingle... I'm sure some people will figure out how to communicate with you too." It was then that a woman approached and Protea looked to her. In fact, it was two ladies. She recognized them from earlier when they greeted her. She bowed her head just slightly to them.
Listening to her concerns she nodded. "I understand your worry. I have met the General and believe she would make quite a strong Queen. It doesn't seem to be a station she would find comfortable though, if I have read her personality correctly. A bit too restless, in need of moving. Queen's sit a lot..." she smiled at the small joke, even if noone else found it funny. "Though I cannot share the exact circumstances that lead up to me acquiring power, I can tell you that the prior Queen Sapphire handed over the power to me willingly. Do you think she would have done so unless I could prove to her my capability to rule in her place? I shall also be putting together a council that will help me in the progress of the Capital, thus more people will have a voice in important matters. So if you do not trust in my ability alone, there will be more who can bend my ear."
She took a long sip of her wine.
"We currently have an alliance with the Tyran Army, to help in the protection of the Capital. I have also ensured that the Gods shall not influence my Capital in a negative manner. I have an alliance with the Xenothrin from the north, and the businesses in the Capital are already providing us with the taxes we have requested. The money which will go back into serving the Capital."
A light chuckle was heard, not mockingly of course, but just at the idea of the things that had gone well so far. "I hope what I have said puts your mind at ease and gives you consideration toward supporting my reign here... Wulv, if I remember from earlier, correct? And..." she looked to her companion, "Sune. Lovely mask choices and attire if I may say so."

Laelia's head lifted at the announcement of her bother and his...companion? She wasn't exactly certain what they were to each other, but the way Trent's eyes roamed over Milhin LeNoir's scandalous gown...how he smiled at her...it seemed there was more than a mere business partnership. Even Laelia found her gaze attracted by the flawless hugging on the necromancer's curves and the deep plunge of the neckline all the way to her navel. It was definitely one way to make an entrance.
"Pick your jaw up, Zephyr." She murmured to her son without having to spare him a glance.
"Huh, what?" The young man perked, turning his eyes from the entrance way. He cleared his throat and raised his hand to scratch the back of his head. His uncle Trent and the woman on his arm were coming towards them. "I, uh...Oh look, there's Elyn and Ardyn. I'm going to go say hello." Zephyr strode off to do just that.
A voice from the side drew her notice and she turned to view Wulv. They were someone she had grown to respect over time, particularly after they had battled in the contest for Monet's hand. Though neither of them won the prize, so to speak, they had both earned places as Monet's advisers. "Well met, Wulv. It has been quite a while since we have been in the same room. I trust you and yours are well." She replied smoothly to the greeting.
They were interrupted by the beginning of the coronation ceremony itself. She fell silent, watching intently as Protea accepted the crown and swore to look after the Capital's well-being. It would be interesting to see what this new Queen did in the coming days.
"Of course." She said with a slight nod as Wulv excused themself from her company to go and address Queen Protea. Laelia had already spoken with the new Queen and likely would again soon. There was no need for her to insert herself on this day when there were so many others clamoring to speak with Protea.
The ceremony ended and the music struck up. The dancing began and Laelia fell back to a wall near the throne, contenting herself with steadily watching the room. She was not the type to approach someone and ask for a dance. There were so few she'd want to do so with as it was. Even fewer partners willing to step up and offer a dance to a General not wearing a gown.
That didn't stop Zephyr, however, who seemed to have found some young noblewoman to practice socializing with. Her son was so different from her, but in truth that wasn't a bad thing. Let the young enjoy themselves, she figured.

Post by Raelle Ravencourt on Jul 30, 2017 12:58:05 GMT -8
Raelle and her entourage remained off to the side after she took a couple turns around the room with Trent Kaliba. The Queen of the Raven Islands played the role of neutral observer, only a slight narrowing of green eyes as the new crown was placed upon a new queen's head without any word of the odd woman's lineage at all.
Who was Protea? Where was the customary declaration of noble ancestry? And why was everyone else seemingly fine with a no-name woman kneeling on that dais claiming authority over them all?
"This is wrong, Blacktyde," she muttered to the captain of the Queen's guard beside her.
Only two generations ago it had been the Deleon line ruling these lands. Then came the rebellion and she was smuggled out of the King's Castle, the only surviving member of House Deleon. The only living Heir. Her bid to reclaim her family's throne had been thwarted by the sorcery of Mordred Vargo and his twisted twin, Monet.
Had it not been for their witchery, the dagger she stabbed through Mordred's black heart would have put an end to it all then and there.
She'd stomached the defeat because at the time, her then-betrothed had lands of his own torn asunder by an old civil war. There was a different throne, a different kingdom, that needed their utmost devotion. It had been many years since then. The Raven Islands were at peace and thriving.
When the music started up and the merriment began, Raelle remained where she was and still deep in thought on whether it was an old pride that had her feeling so unsettled, or if something else was afoot.
What had happened to Sapphire Vargo? Of course her Griffins kept her informed of whose head the tainted Ebony Crown sat upon. Had this been a coup and the nobles here so unfaithful to their rulers to let it go so easily? There'd been no word of Sapphire naming a legitimate Heir.
So who was this woman?
"Blacktyde with me. The rest of you stay here."
Raelle cut straight across the dance floor in a direct line for the so-called Queen, timing it so the twirling, decorated forms seemed to part to make way for her passage. Drama was a valuable tool, especially in these circles.
"Protea, is it?" she smiled cooly, pausing only feet away from the woman herself. If she interrupted a conversation...well, she did not care. "I'm afraid I missed it if the information was relayed. How is it you are related to the Vargos again?"

Once he had the chance he strolled up with a smile on his face. "Queen Protea is there to be more alliances with others? or do you plan on defending the capital with just the alliances you have now?" he asked as he adjusted his mask which was purple and covered with dragon scales.

Ronnie continued to dance in sway with his mysterious dancing partner all the while listening to the conversations between the new queen and the many people wanting answers about her. The mysterious dance partner noticed Ronnie's distraction and spoke softly “I see you have an interest in the queen. You are not the only one, but you seem keen on learning indirectly rather than directly.”
Ronnie twirls around with her and responds, “You are observant, which is interesting considering the mask and all. She spoke, “Yes, I am too interested in the queen and her goals.” Ronnie continued his dancing motion as they carried on in conversation, “Well, I doubt she will reveal much now, too many ears.
The woman spoke coy, “Oh you mean with that council meeting she was speaking about, are you attending.” Ronnie spoke, “As the representative of the Breteuil, yes I must.” Soon the woman pressed herself closer to Ronnie as she wanted to whisper closer to his ear, “Good luck on your ambitions Mr. Breteuil.”
Ronnie's mysterious dance partner broke apart from him and walked off. Ronnie looked at her walking away wondering who she was. It wasn't long before he found himself glaring in the direction of Wulv as he heard his name being said. Ronnie was finding it harder to hold himself back. It was made more difficult with each time someone spoke that name.
Ronnie would go through a mental crisis to maintain his composure. Fortunately his mask would hide his facial expressions. Ronnie would snap out of it as Raelle suddenly shot pass him in her beeline for the queen. She just barely missed running into him. He could feel the light wind pull from the speed of her march to the queen. Ronnie lets out a sigh, but found himself moving around to avoid the crowd of dancers.
Ronnie needed a partner and his eyes gazed in the direction of Laelia, he did recall her speaking with his nemesis. Plus she looked fairly important, perhaps she would have information. Ronnie walked towards her with poise and offer a hand to hers in gesture to take her hand to offer a customary kiss on the hand. Something he was unsure she would allow considering she was a military woman. Of course, if she allowed, he would tip up his mask to reveal his young brown skin as his lips would attempt to make soft contact against the top of her hand.
Regardless if she allowed or disallowed he would ask her, “Greetings m'lady may I have this dance?” Ronnie was near eighteen and young, but he was definitely cultured.

Cairogen stood by silently as everyone began approaching the queen. He contemplated quietly on just what he wanted to do. Remain a hermit in the woods or claim his namesake and approach...in all honesty he wanted to stay in the woods. He sighs finally and shakes his head "If i am ever to be anything resembling a McArther...i had better pull my head out of my rear"
He finishes off his glass of wine, setting it on a tray as one of the servers passed by. He walked over to Proteas table and sat down calmly and waited for a free moment when the queen had finished with the others. Once done he would bow his head to her "Queen Protea, i am here as Representative of McArther industries, but also here of my own accord as a son of Pendragon McArther. It was his decision that a large section of profits be diverted from the store to the kingdom as way of honoring Tyran before he left."
"He is gone back to our home now along with most of the others. Only Myself and my brother Arua of Gaius remain here to watch over things in their absence. My father supported the crown, and the Vargos to a degree, as Mordred was hard to get along with even on good days. Sapphire and previously Monet he got along with fairly well. In that sense, as Pens son i offer my services and friendship as a true member of the McArther family, to help you how i can in honor of how my father worked as well"

The Queen suddenly found herself being approached by more people with more questions. She smiled and raised her hand to them to have each wait their turn until they could speak to her. Taking her time, she would address each person personally before moving on to the next, but including all of them in the conversation at the same time. She was certain noone would speak anything out of place here where all could hear anyway. She looked to the man with the dragon scale purple mask and white hair ( X_Orisimark_D). "Hello Sir. Alliances? Thus far I have secured four. If you, or those you are here to represent, wish to discuss the possibility of working with the Capital under my reign, I encourage you to join the council meeting. More specific details can be addressed there." Her own mask had been removed and was resting on the table in front of her so that everyone could see her face when she spoke to them. The next gentleman had sat at the table and waited to have a moment of her time, bowing his head when that moment was indicated. She returned the slightly bow of her head with a polite smile. "Ah yes, the McArthurs. They have already shown generosity toward the court in providing their taxes and more. I definitely will not forget that kind act in these fragile times where I am to try to gain the people's trust. I appreciate your sentiment, and I do hope you plan to join us for the council to discuss more." As she was about to address the next person, Raelle Ravencourt was suddenly standing before her at the table with what seemed like a fire in her eyes. Protea reached down to adjust her skirt, a subtle motion that indicated the woman didn't intimidate her despite her posture. Then she listened to what she had to say. The table had gone quiet suddenly as everyone looked at the two women. Protea smiled politely again as she looked Raelle in the eyes (if seen through a mask.) "That is Queen Protea Kyanite as was shared during the coronation, actually, but I shall forgive the rude slip of your memory considering the festivities we are enjoying tonight." The guards next to her had become a bit more alert, but didn't react in a hostile manner. "Indeed Queen Raelle, perhaps at no fault of your own, you did not receive the information that was sent out to the Capital's people and surrounding areas because your land is so far from here. Queen Sapphire Vargo announced the willing surrender and transfer of the crown to me. Her and I had spoken in private, and she was convinced of the need for me to take the crown in her place and take over ruling of the Tyran Capital. What we spoke of is of course not something I'm obliged to discuss here, but if she was convinced and did this act willingly- who are you to challenge it?" She raised her glass of wine and took a long sip from it. "Now I warn you, Queen Raelle, to speak to me with a bit more respect when you are in my court, or I'm afraid you will no longer be a welcomed guest here. As you can see..." she motioned to the others around her, "these lovely men and women had the manners to wait their turn, and speak to me politely with their questions. Perhaps you should learn from their example, and I can entertain more of your worries?" A challenge of words between Queens. It was enough to make anyone stare, as it was a rare sight and a dangerous one as well. It was clear by her words and posture that Queen Raelle Ravencourt was challenging Queen Protea in front of everyone, daring... but dangerous.

Raelle grinned slowly and casually removed her mask, handing it over to Blacktyde so her hands were both free.
"We aren't so civilized in the Raven Islands, haven't you heard?"
She put her hands on the table and leaned forward as if to speak privately, but she made sure her voice carried without yelling. "You spoke to Sapphire in private, and you expect nobles, leaders, and rulers in their own right to simply take your word? I am not just the Queen of the Raven Islands, my dear. I am the Deleon of House Deleon, a Tyran noble and daughter of a family of Tyran sovereignty before the Vargos stole our crown and replaced it with faux Ebony. Where is Sapphire now? Where are Mordred's heirs? There is a boy child of his, is there not?"
She cocked a brow and slowly straightened up to a proud and regal posture. Her eyes raked over the unknown faces surrounding this mouthy, so-called queen. "Where are the representatives from House Vargo to show their support of your reign? Perhaps others are content to simply take your word for it that you deserve to rule over them, but I can assure you House Deleon requires far more proof of your eligibility than just a stranger's word and a few easily-faked scribbles on a sheet of parchment."

Noticing the situation getting increasingly tense and not wanting to see a war started Rita teleported to them and said " Ladies while you both make valid points I think this conversation is best held till after the festivities. "

Vici, 'Thing' as she called herself for the first part till she was given a proper name right before the actual coronation in case any should address her she would be able to sort of give them a name in a manner that is as she couldn't speak or yet read or write very well, she could draw though, made her way away from the table before Raelle had zoomed over, good thing too as her blood would have boiled even more and she might not have restrained herself.
Curious about the dancers and Jacob she eventually made her way to the young officer and stood before him to keep him from patrolling more till she could get his attention pointing to the dancers then to herself.

She watched the event play out. When she was crowned she smiled and gave polite applause as she began to dance softly to herself. She wasn't much of a dancer but loved to watch others. She smiled happily, not lifting the mask to her face. There in the throng of the crowd she saw him, her husband, Tempest. She watched him from a few feet away, wondering if he would notice her in the crowd.
Her head turned, hearing the pop of a teleportation being used. She saw Rita, her sister wife, appear before the Queen and the others who seemed to be arguing. She hasn't seen Rita for a while and was happy she had made it in time to be here.

Sune would listen to Wulv, flushing when Wulv called them important, though the flush faded and panic came to her face at the mention of a possible attack back home. “The children…” she breathed, now looking to the door and wondering if her babies left back home would be ok. “You don’t really think anyone is attacking our children right now do you?” she half whimpered.
Sune looked between the two he spoke with relaxing a bit, surely no one would take their children… right? Night haven had it’s defences and Wulv and Cairogen would help her hunt down anyone that laid a finger on her kids. She tried to shake her mind of it even as Wulv went on to tell their friend that he should no worry what others think. She was only slightly surprised to hear wulv saying that Cairogen's relative Lycard might have even done some folks a favour killing them. It was a very Shadow Walker mind set to have. All about the balance and part of that balance being death.
She was glad to here that Cairogen wasn’t bothered by what others thought, at least mostly. She would pat his shoulder. “Do not worry too much about those you associate with. We make enough problems for ourselves” she smirked a bit, adding to the point Wulv made previous with their own words. She was silent for most of the talk, her mind still on her children’s safety.
When Wulv excused themselves Sune gave them a kiss on the cheek “ok my love be safe” she said and looked back to Cairogen. “Well dear I think I shall mingle too. I love you both and all but it is important to make new friends as well.” she sighed a bit if only because she was still feeling a bit odd being at such a fancy event. She gave Cairogen a hug and moved off, waving to Lily through the crowed. She would go to Hug Lilly in a more warm embrace of hello.
“Hi Lily my dear how be you?” she asked, but before much more could be said the queen was gone and back and the cognation was taking place. She clapped along with the others and looked to the table of food being put out. She could see Sakura and Rita already moving over to talk to the queen and felt they should do the same.. but what even should she ask? she thought.
She noted Jacob go up to greet the queen and then start to march about, quirking a brow as this seemed odd to them. “I wonder if marching about is some new form of dance?”she asked with a tilt of her head, not realizing the man had decided to forgo the dancing and to join the guards in their duty of protecting the queen.
At that point Wulv was back and kissing her hand asking her to dance and she smiled looking to Lily “excuse me Lilly my dear but I must go dance a bit” she excused herself and moved with Wulv onto the dance floor, moving a bit stiffly and without much grace. she sighed “I just can’t stop worrying about the children ever since you mention that whole business of our home being under attack” she frowned. "as for the one in my belly it’s fine” she said “How is yours doing?” she asked Wulv in turn.
she moved across the floor with Wulv talking “I’m still feeling a bit out of place but I don’t think that will change any time soon.” she repeats herself as she knows Wulv already knew this. But then things were silent and the conversation came to an end and all there was, was the music and Wulv. She kissed Wulv smiling and flushing, letting the silent moment of love fill her and help her relax.
The dance came to an end and she moved to the table with Wulv to sit “good idea. I think I need to sit too." No sooner were they going to sit though then Wulv was heading for the queen to question them. She stood shyly at Wulv's back, feeling grateful for the mask on her face. She would listen to the queen talk, not sure she believed or agreed with some of the answers and then taking a seat close by to eat the food on the table as she was hungry.
“Who.. who will the council be with?” she asked timidly, feeling silly for asking as she was sure she knew the answer. It was good to hear that the new queen already held alliances with a few and had plans to align with more. She flushed at the complement the queen gave her. “Tha.. thank you..” she bit her lip a moment and then couldn’t resist the next question that came out. “Our children will be safe then.. under your rule?” she asked with worry, patting a hand over her belly protectively. She had a mothers worry, more concerned for her family and those close to her. She reached up to pull Wulv closer to them as more people came forward to ask there questions.
It was starting to get to be too much for her and she could only guess how the queen felt being bombarded like this by so many. Still she just sat and clung to Wulv's one hand with her own as she would listen to the questions and answers from all to the queen and from queen to them all.
As things kicked off between Protea and Raelle she accidentally melted the fork set at her spot at the table, becoming more nervous. She gently nudged the now melted thing off to the side in hopes no one would noticed it and put a wooden fork in it’s place. The one hand still holding Wulv's now gave it a squeeze as a silent sign to Wulv that Sune needed them there to help them remain calm.

Lily was watching the people as Sune came up to her and gave her a hug. She smiled and returned the hug, her wings flicking lightly "Hello Sune! So good to see you! My aren't you glowing." she spoke to her. "I'm doing alright. Been busy ruling over the Hallow. You should see it sometime, although I should give you a map as its hard to find the entrance if you don't know what you're looking for."
After speaking with her a moment more, Sune excused herself and went back to their partner. "Of course. Have a wonderful time." she spoke as they departed leaving her alone again. She took this moment to look about the food that was laid out and the guests. She noticed Orismark in his dragonscaled outfit. His queen not with him apparently this evening. She heard the words exchanged by Raelle and Protea but paid them no mind. The Fae Queen just watching those around her. Content for now

All the while waiting for Laelia's response, Ronnie could hear all of the various conversations going on. Most Notably he could hear a split beginning to form between some of the population. Some was fussing about Raelle's rude and uncultured response to the queen. He heard others on the other end of the spectrum, where others began to question if the queen rise to power was as amicable as she claims. It would be interesting to see how things play out, but for the time being Ronnie's primary focus was on Laelia's response.

Cairogen takes a drink of his wine and sets it down with a sigh "Yet, this is not the raven islands, this is the capital city of Tyran. Where at current you are surrounded by not only Queen Proteas allies, but the castle guard and the Tyran army. So, any 'uncivilized' actions here may very well end up with a trip to the dungeon if ones not careful. As most are coming to the queens defense, you are the minority here."
He looks up at Raelle as he removes his mask as well "There are common manners to view while visiting anothers court, and to openly defy the queen, most people would consider an act of war. But i know that cant be the case because one would not be that mentally challenged to incite a war while they themselves are smack dab in the middle of what would be considered enemy territory. If they are it would be no wonder that they lost the throne to begin with. On a side note i know of several mermaid clans that would be unhappy to hear the raven islands did nothing to protect them from the slavers that come from the east. Wouldnt it be terrible if that information were to leak and suddenly most of the ships sank due to holes in the bottom?"

Post by Protea Kyanite on Jul 31, 2017 16:31:19 GMT -8
Poor Sune had been the one interrupted by Raelle and her questions going unanswered as the two women faced off against one another in heated debate. The melted fork was noticed however by Protea, as did Rita who teleported to the two to try to encourage it be moved to private. Protea did not disagree with such an idea, except she needed to oversee the festivities, as leaving in the middle of them would be seen as rude and disappoint those who had come to ask her questions.
As Raelle had leaned forward closer, Protea continued to keep the calm face and composure without reacting to the threatening body language. The challenge was open for all to hear and Protea sighed softly at the fact this woman was making a spectacle during a party. Finally she rose to her feet to address not only the mad Queen, but all who had been listening in on the loud conversation. Before she could say what she was going to, Cairogen made a clear declaration of loyalty for Protea and her court, a gesture she appreciated greatly to know she wasn't alone at this moment against House Deleon.
She rose her hand to have the music stopped, hearing a few sounds of disappointment from the crowd and those who had been enjoying themselves. "My apologies ladies and gentleman!" she said to calm them as well as draw their attention up toward her.
"It seems that Queen Ravencourt of House Deleon has objections to my station as your new Queen. While I would have preferred she wait to address this until an appropriate time, I'm afraid she is insisting on doing it now and interrupting the festivities." she looked now to Raelle again, the calm but serious look remaining soft on her silver skin.
"House Vargo no longer has say here. However, the prior Queen Sapphire did not simply address this in private, but announced to everyone willing to listen the transfer of power to me. Perhaps you do not agree with the way it has been handled, but regardless, this is how it is now. You are judging me before even giving me a chance to prove to you and the people that I can be a good Queen. Perhaps it is the injury of your pride from being removed from this station by the Vargos long ago... yet I have nothing to do with that. You seem to harbor ill will against House Vargo, and yet you proclaim to ask where their heirs are, implying they should instead rule. You would like to know my lineage, as that appears to be quite important to you and your land. While it is not your concern to know such a thing, I did reveal it vaguely to all. So I will say it again." she took a deep breath and closed her coral eyes a moment before continuing and looking to everyone once more.
"I am first of my name, the first and only of my bloodline. I am Kyanite. This land, is what created me. I was not born into it like the rest of you. I simply came to exist, as a child... a result of all the chaotic magic in the world during the birth, death, and transition of the Gods. I am not a victim however... for if it were not for the Gods, I would not have come to be. I shared with the previous queen a vision... a prophecy that came to me. In that prophecy, I was the only one with the ability to stand between the new powers... which I now know to be the God of Evil and Goddess of Light. Without me, the Capital was going to come to ruin in the middle of their battle for power and influence on the land. Queen Sapphire felt she did not have the ability to protect the Capital from this prophecy, and was able to figure out as well that it was true and -would- come to be. In her wisdom, she conceded the throne to me, in hopes that I could be the strength and vessel to stand between the gods. I have accomplished this, as I made it my very first duty as Queen even before the crown was put on my head tonight. Neither God will allow their power and influence to cause the Capital harm so long as I keep my end of a deal I made with them. I would have sacrificed my soul, if it meant protecting this kingdom. I was fortunate to have mercy from the God of Evil, and encouragement from the Goddess of Light. So long as I keep my word and fulfill the duties I promised them, as well as the previous queen, the Capital will be safe from them at least."
She looked now to Raelle with a slight fire in her eyes. "So while you allowed yourself to be rushed away to safety and have the crown usurped and taken from you... I have literally stood against the Gods for this kingdom. Now please, Queen Ravencourt, tell me again how I am not qualified to sit in this throne and take care of my people?"
With that, she sat down before Raelle could even start responding to what she'd just said. She lifted her glass of wine and took a long sip from it again.
"So, my dear (she said sarcastically for Raelle's use of it earlier), I could have you removed from here for treason... even put you in the dungeons, as Sir Cairogen hinted at. However, I wont. Your intention was for the good of the Capital, you simply went about it the wrong way. So this is your last chance to have my forgiveness, and I suggest you accept it. Go, and enjoy the festivities, and if you still feel need... I will see you tomorrow to consider you for council."
Even if Raelle began to talk again, Protea raised her hand to indicate to the bards to start up the music once more. She would not have her ball stopped or ruined by the concerns and rantings of a jealous Queen. And should Raelle start something further, there were guards here to tend to that.
Looking over to Wulv and Sune she smiled once more, trying to ease the intensity of her eyes and posture now that she was addressing her subjects again. "As for your question Lady Sune, or is it Sir? I apologize for not knowing the proper surname. Anyhow, yes, as you have just heard, the children in the Capital should be safe at least from the Gods. I have also put plans in place to secure alliances and reduce the chances of bandits and war. I cannot protect the people from everything, but I can at least do my best against the things they themselves cannot guard themselves from. As for the Council, that is what tomorrow's meeting is for. I sent out letters to all potential leaders of houses, families, clans and cities to come here if they were interested. I shall have discussions with them tomorrow, and we will decide who among them should be on my council. That council will then have the power to speak for me regarding the Capital, and advise me on what they feel is best. It is my way to ensure I am not a solitary leader ruling for selfish reasons. Plus, it was something the prior Queen requested of me." As well as the God of Evil, but she chose to leave that part out.

It wasn't entirely unexpected to be approached by a stranger, with hand outstretched to greet her. Through the lion-esque mask of metal, icy eyes of blue regarded Ronnie neutrally. "Well met." She greeted, accepting the offered hand. However, she shook it firmly, denying him the opportunity to raise the back of her hand to his lips. Whether it was intentionally done, or simply a byproduct of her firm grip, Laelia didn't reveal.
What was entirely unexpected it that she was suddenly asked to dance. Beneath her mask a pale brow raised and her lips pursed together in consideration. Typically she would have declined. She could dance quite well, a prerequisite of most exceptional swordsmen, but didn't often enjoy doing so.
From the sound of his voice, he was young. Perhaps a few years older than her son if she judged accurately. A part of her was curious as to his reason for even asking. It wasn't often she was approached for no reason at all. There were women at this ball who looked the part with their pretty gowns and such. It was unlikely one would approach her believing she was waiting to be asked. That piqued enough curiosity for her to accept.
"I suppose." She finally smoothly answered after a long moment of consideration, offering her hand so he could lead her towards the other dancers. "What is your name?" Laelia asked politely.
A disturbance at the throne drew her attention and she found her gaze drawn towards the two Queens. While she didn't believe Raelle Ravencourt was foolish enough to draw steel here in this place, the mention of 'Mordred's heir' elicited a frown, concealed by her mask.
*Don't you bring my son into this.* She bade silently. Laelia cared not for the verbal sparring that took place. If Protea would truly be Queen, she would have to get used to naysayers and be willing to back up her claims. If she couldn't, she wasn't fit to rule. But the General would have words with anyone who tried to undermine the efforts she had made to separate Zephyr from the taint of the Vargo legacy.

Trent could hardly believe the hogwash he was listening too- but he had become accustomed to Capital gamesmanship. Raelle would know well enough to leave the pigs to their trough. All the same, he monitored the situation with full attention save then he reached for Milhin to hit the dance floor. There would be time to speak on this another time. Just like there would be time to speak to his sister, who looked like she had an admirer, distraction, or both.
