Cairo, Jacob, and Wulv are currently holding the poison, undrank. Since people were asking, I'll re-iterate the rule (which you can find in another post for easier reading btw.) Yes, all 4 poison and all 4 escape cups must be drank, and then the remaining people must drink from the silver. Once everyone drank a cup (including the main 8) then the stuff will activate.

He watched the others bicker and argue over everything, like lost children masses of sheep screaming in a disaster it brought a distaste for everyone in this room. Even the Queen's protector was distasteful judging the inhabitants, he caught Monet's glances but he kept it to himself, simply coming up beside her and joining the line of hand holding if they failed they had gained nothing if they succeeded that got a key, he'd had worse outcomes.
If need be he would hold out from drinking a foreign substance especially one concocted by a wizardly type person who had clearly sustained himself to much in the energies and driven himself quite insane.
He came out of his thoughts when Monet grabbed his hand even if his magic was subdued a spark between them formed for only a second sending a jolt up his through his nervous system, he'd had this feeling with his twin once it was unsettling to have it with someone so unknown to him. However is unease did not come fourth to his features he just simply stood there...holding his a hand with someone from a Far Away land.

There was a spark when she'd taken this man's hand and it startled her at first but like him, she didn't really react to it much. Her eyes looked down at the hands a long moment as she contemplated it. For how, it wasn't the time to focus on it however, but she wouldn't forget. Patiently she'd wait for the rest to take each other's hands and see if it did anything as they all stood there and continued to speculate instead of just drinking the cups. Four deaths and they'd be done with this was all she cared about, not some key to waste time on to save them all. Then again, if someone did figure out a key, at least those she cared about would for sure be safe. Monet hated conflicting emotions.

(OOC Note: Jess okayed my nul space pocket)
Sune watched the struggle and looked to Cairogen "Why not let me put that in my nul space until it's time to drink it" she offered "don't worry I won't drink it. It's just to keep it safe for now" she said and Cairogen would know Sune was telling the truth on this. If he gave it to her she would slip it into her nul space before anyone else could take it. The nul space just a magical pocket that no on else but them had access to. It was magic sure but not the kind that would help them get out of here or had any real function beyond just holding stuff since Sune tended to wear outfits without any pockets.
She then removed herself from holding hands to take the last remaining cup that lead to safety and put that in her nul space too. Her final trip leading to Wulv "let me hold onto the cup for now love" she asked of him gently, hoping she would comply. If she did this cup also went into her nul space pocket. She was determined to gather as many cups as she could. Even going so far as to take all the remaining silver cups into her care temporarily. She let Ellina drink her cup to freedom since she was carrying a child but then would go up to Lilly and ask for her to hand hers over "It's just for now." she told the woman "We need to decide more clearly who should drink what." she explains, tiered of everyone just killing themselves when there were other options.
She could do nothing for Raelle who had already drank the poison. Nor could she undo what Vici had done in forcing Prota to drink one of the freeing potions.
Sakura, Ronnie,Monet, Orisi and Harmony all had silver cups and since she had failed to stop Sakura she would try to encourage Monet, Orisis and Harmony to give over their cups to her with the assurance she would give them back once things were talked out in a more civil manner.
Finally she would attempt to take Jacob's cup and shove that into her nul space pocket too. At any rate no one was going anywhere now without first getting a cup from sune. As the rules had stated no one would progress unless they all had, had a drink from one of the cups Sune now had possession of.

Trent frowned. This was utter chaos. Idiocy. His irritation grew almost as much as his general misgivings about this apparent 'queen.'
" Allow me to interject, but we have people willing, able, and in some cases already partaking of poison. The number of potential martyrs exceeds the amount of poison." He looked at the room with a slight smile. "You should all feel very proud."
" Do we have the four who are leaving? I feel as though we do. If I imagine the rest of us press on. Whatever else being done is a waste of time, and an insult to those who willingly sacrifice. Unless someone knows this 'key' then I have no reason to relent, pause, or consider any direction but forward. Now, if you're done guarding the cups- those who are leaving for safety, those who are leaving for ill, let's live by our choices. I am going forward. "

Post by Jacob Tanner on Aug 5, 2017 21:36:31 GMT -8
The belt securing the cup was a little bit stronger than Jacob had anticipated, as was the strength of the person fighting against Jacob's intention to take it. He continued to struggle for a moment, "You can go on yo-" but it was futile. Clearly, even without magic, people here still had advantages he didnt. It wasnt fair, really. The one thing the universe had given Tanner was courage--something he had in spades. What the gods, perhaps for amusement, had failed to give him was the supernatural abilities to act on his courage. So many others over the years had powers beyond anything he had ever dreamed about, yet all they did was sit in their keeps and talk. Or go to the tavern and drink. Or engage only in incredibly lopsided battles that they were sure to win with their eyes closed.
And yet here he was. Unable to take a cup from a person who had been shackled away from their magic. It was as if somebody was taking a perverse pleasure in watching him try over and over to help the citizens he was sworn to protect, only to be swatted down like a fly. His courage was only able to take him so far... but perhaps his military drills hadnt been for nothing!
Without warning, Jacob released his grip on Cairogen's goblet and shoulder charged Isaac, knocking that one's drink loose. While he had been successful in the charge, he unfortunately became tripped up on a bit of jagged stonework in the floor. He hit the floor chest first with the toxin filled cup sloshing in front of him. Before he could roll over and secure his trophy though, fate had one more twist for Jacob.
A smaller character in the room bounced over to him and seeing the opportunity, plucked it right from his hands. Something inside Jacob snapped. Everything he had done since turning twelve had been about getting ready for moments like these. Where fate would call upon the few to sacrifice for the many. Even now, in this instance that he had been specifically prepared and groomed for, the gods mocked him. Everybody was stronger and more powerful than him. He felt his teeth grit together in a strong grind. He slammed a fist into the ground, shattering the binding of the steel glove as he propelled himself upright.
"STOP!" his voice strangely loud and deep for his age. He began a slow and deliberate walk towards Sune. "I have tried. And I have tried. Ive even eaten dirt for this army," he rammed a closed fist against his shoulder. The impact decoupled the front and back sides of his chest piece, sending it clamoring along the ground. "Ive stood guard on cold nights. Ive missed meals. Ive marched countless miles on gear that barely holds. I hear from home maybe once a year. Ive broken two bones. Numerous cuts and bruises. I stand the watch. And do you know why I do these things?" he removed his helmet as he got within arms reach. His face was covered in sweat and hair was in disarray. There was fear of what came next, but pure unadulterated courage was in his eyes. "These things I do, that others do not. This cup was not meant for you, it was meant for me. And if it needs to be drank," he snapped to attention. "So be it."
With that, he snatched it right back from Sune. This time, he drew his sword. "Many of you have abilities I do not, but I swear by whatever gods are listening I will do my damnedest to relieve you of your hand whoever tries for this cup next." He looked to his left and right. When nobody made a move, he seemed to relax a little. Or maybe the adrenaline had worn off. Who's to say?
He set the cup down between his feet, blade still at the ready. For now though, he would try the general's idea. He held out his hand to any that would take it. So long as they didnt reach for the cup, they need not fear his weapon.
As he waited for whatever came next, a new task came to the fore: He would have to apologize to the man charged into. Assuming they all made it out, Jacob did feel a stab of guilt for knocking into an unsuspecting civilian and he would make it a point to seek his forgiveness.
[This cup is now locked to Jacob]

Jacob has not only stolen a poison, but successful defended. Since he succeeded his one defend of the cup, it is his to drink, hold, or give away now. Sune has taken all cups that were willingly given (or successfully taken) and put them in their 'null' space in an attempt to get everyone to listen and discuss without more rash decisions, especially about they key. So far people who have discussed ideas on the key have thought the following: The key has something to do with the blue barrier. The key has something to do with the Queen herself. Some thinking kissing her, some thinking everyone holding hands, and some thinking killing her. The key has something to do with the crown of the Queen, taken by Sune and now held by Laelia. Throwing objects at the barrier (which resulted in bouncing off.) These so far are just ideas. If the right thing happens, I will be sure to say so. I wont however say if you have the right or wrong idea, or if you are on the right track. The key is meant to be difficult. The easy solution is the cups, but it comes at a cost. Its all up to you guys. I wont let it go too long undecided though... so far its only been a day (of the 2nd game.) Lets see in another day or two if you guys can't move forward.

Wulv of course handed the goblet to Sune and would stand to go join the hands with the others, not sure it would do them any good; especially if not everyone took part. Many had made decisions already on what they were going to do. Wulv took in a deep breath. The key would probably not be something simple even if they thought it could be. It had to always be with them, but what it was, or who it might be... that was another matter entirely. "Martyrs, heroes, what difference does it make if we do not decide who goes and who stays. If we don't find the key the last of the poisons and the last of the escape cups will need drinking or no one moves on at all. Then we might as well all be dead for what it is worth. It does us no good to bicker with another and call each other names, or think our station above anybody else in this room. Because in the end we are all citizens of Tyran and owe this land our very lives for what it gives us. There will undoubtedly be a monarch even if they do not come from a tested lineage, there will always be gods. There will always be an army, and clans, and guilds, and whatever all have you. Legends, heroes, martyrs, fools, there will always be. But this is our time for the moment, and we must make of it what we can for in this game none of us know how long we have left. I say we try the few ideas we have for what the key could be. And as we do so discuss who takes what. Sune wishes to move onward to whatever is ahead. That is her choice I cannot change her mind. I will take the poison or move on, but not leave, I do not feel right in doing so and think I may still have use here. I believe the general intends to move onward if we cannot find the key. But we have frightened people here, the girl that keeps close to the queen for example, has anyone stopped to stare her in the eyes and reassure her? Her actions clearly speak that of a lost child. I don't think she should be here to move on or to poison. Yet we are already speaking for others here. I will not speak for that child either, but I think she is frightened and we need our wits about us in whatever decisions we make. And yes we. If there is to be a council we need to learn to deal with one another now and come to terms instead of letting everything dissolve at the first sign of disagreement." Wulv was done with their speech. They weren't sure if people would listen anyway for they had a tendency to either be too reserved or too loquacious. They held Sune's hand and waited.

Sune would listen to Trent and frown as he congratulated them all on being so willing to die. At his question she would shake her head “No we do not yet have the four that are leaving.. People assumed I would go but I am not. this is not a waste of time though. so far each room has been easy enough. This being the first room where some are being asked to die so others may flee or go forward.” she retorted
“The key allows us all to leave safely, going forward could mean death for all that continue. Thus figuring out the key is worth while still” she said flatly.
“In other words no, no I am not done guarding the cups yet. Not so long as finding this key means no one else has to poison themselves” she told him.
She moved on and so far had successfully gotten the cups from Orisi, Monet and Wulv. It was still to be seen if other would hand over their cup so easily. Her attempt to take the cup from Jacob had not only failed but resulted in the man getting rather angry.
The pregnant 4’5” tall woman blinking and taking a leap back as he should at her to STOP!. Her fox ears going flat against her blond and black hair as her fox tails drooped and tucked between her legs like a puppy dog being scorned by it’s owner.
She even whimpered a bit as he approached her, she had only just picked up the cup from where he had dropped it, with the intend of holding onto it for now but to give it back latter. Now he went on an angry tirade just like Sakura had done. She looked confused as he said he had eaten dirt, a thing Sune did almost daily for the health of he babies growing in her. “But.. dirt is good for you..” she squeaked meekly, forgetting that others did not make a habit of eating dirt for health reasons.
Then he was slamming his fist into his shoulder and Sune’s eyes went wide. She was trembling now in fear of this man. With or without magic Sune could sometimes be a very timid person. She would even jump as his armour went clamouring to the ground. Her brow furrowing as he went on about standing guard on cold nights, missing meals and marching countless miles. He spoke of never hearing from home and breaking bones, casting a look to her own metal right leg as this thing was not as it was just for show. At his question she felt the need to interject.
“Because you are a man of the guard with lots of pride but to think you are the only one to have sacrifice.. to suffer…” tears came to her eyes once more. “I was shoved into a hole and kept there for god knows how long… my leg is not as it is because I think it’s fashionable to walk around with a metal leg!” she trembled, getting upset.
“I know what it is like to go for what seems like forever without seeing your family or hearing from them. I know what it is like to starve and even to look death in the eye!” she said. “There are those here who are immune to poison, like Rita , Cairogen and Wulv. I know them all well enough to know they speak the truth on this matter. So instead of risking your life on this matter why not live to server those that need you alive that much longer ? she asked, even as he took the cup from her shaking hands.
“I did not take that cup from you so as to drink it. I took it from you to give to Rita. Not because she is stronger or better than you… but because she could at least stand a better chance of surviving it. I took all the cups to hold onto for now with the full intent of giving them back after… Protea has been forced to drink one already.. that leaves only enough cups for Ellina, Wulv and myself to leave with our unborn children in tact.” she sighed, not wanting to take that rout but knowing she may have to so others more suited to any possible combat coming up could continue.
“Raelle already sacrificed herself and possibly started a war because of her choice, leaving enough cups for Cairogen, Rita and one other person whom is immune to such things to try their luck drinking it.” She was trying to explain but he had already drawn his sword and seemed to be determined to defend the cup until the last. She would frown and shake her head, she felt he wouldn’t see her way ever just like Sakura wouldn’t. All he saw was a kitsune supposedly striped of their power for the first time.. something that wasn’t true at all. It had taken Sune many years to get to where they were now and they had struggled long and hard to even use magic at the beginning.
She would leave him be since it seemed he was at least not going to drink it right away. Perhaps his sacrifice would save her own love Wulv from having to drink it in the end, allowing the two of them to flee together. She would kiss Wulv in thanks as she gave over her cup, taking a moment to hug her mate and calm down as she was quit upset.
Her fox ears perking up as Wulv took their turn to talk. she didn’t say anything now as she agreed with Wulv, only glancing at Jacob now as Wulv talked of wanting to possibly move forward and sighed. She knew forcing people to leave instead of going forward was going to be hard.but at least thy had no shortage of people willing to die. She hugged Wulv tight and kissed them on the cheek. “You are right my love” she sighed having calmed down by now. "come then everyone lets join hands" she said taking on of Wulv's hands in her own and offering her hand up to the next person to join. They had to try right?

Post by Jacob Tanner on Aug 6, 2017 10:09:35 GMT -8
Tanner had heard Sune's attempt at reasonable sage council. But these were not reasonable times. The soldier's path had already shown him what was expected of his fold when there was no further room for diplomacy. When the dark howled, it was the faceless few that were called upon to hold the line. The sheepdogs of the herd tasked with keeping the wolves at bay. For all of Sune's appreciated struggle for amicable outcomes, one truth remained certain: The poison must be drank if any of them were to be free. There was no longer a debate on the matter.
Jacob's edge had subsided considerably, he sheathed his blade to keep from frightening others. His point had already been made anyway, the sword no longer needed to sing her sweet song of battle. "Ma'am, thank you for what you're doing, but this is not an issue of pride. Many of you here," he arced his hand in a wide swath, "Were given things that I-" he shrugged, "I cant even understand. Even you, with the hardships you've endured, you were given that leg. Me? For all of my struggle, I was given three days of bed rest. If leave here, I will continue to be but a small thread in a massive fabric. If you leave here, you might be able to single-handedly save a town from the magical beasts that run wild here--something I would be hopeless to prevent."
Then Sune mentioned the poison and the potential immunity of the others. Even so, this argument fell short to him. "Do any of you know what toxin this is?" he peered down into the cup. Green liquid swirled end over end laced with thin black streaks. It was unsettling. When nobody answered, he continued, "They may be immune, but they also may not. The Tyran military was designed for a single purpose--protecting the people of the land. Good, evil, or otherwise. How could I meet my makers with my head held high if in the one instance the cosmos has willed me out to make this sacrifice, I let somebody else carry the mantle simply because they might have a better shot? No. I will fulfill my purpose. I was given enough strength to see to that task," his resolution was clear.
And now for the first time since all this began, he smiled. "If you want this to not have been a foolish decision, then make it out of here. Use the power given to you and do something." He nodded his gratitude to her. She was at least looking for the best answer. Others seemed to be unabashedly apathetic to the plight of their fellow unwilling participants. From a soldier's perspective, he could appreciate Sune's efforts.
He blinked in quick succession, trying to fight back the adrenaline withdrawal. He had never had to debate at this level before. He had surprised himself with how tempered his words were, even when he had shouted. This would be the end of it though, and Jacob was thankful. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up before he really found himself in uncharted territory. No, the cup was his. The only thing that could change his mind now would be if ordered to do so by general Laelia, but so far she had paid him little heed. Not uncommon for a foot-soldier and probably for the best. When grunts started getting attention from senior officers it usually wasn't to hand out medals.

The voice snickered and chuckled from the void at the people, mocking their plight. "Time is ticking..." he hissed in glee. "Do you sacrifice some for the rest? Or do you risk all while you try to figure out the key. Since you all have been such an enjoyment in this game for me, I'll give you one last hint. The key to safety is still in your hands, but now only held by one." If anyone was looking at the table, they would have seen for a moment an intangible figure (think Dobby from Harry Potter, mixed with a Goblin from World of Warcraft) sitting on the table with a wicked grin, laughing with his hands on his stomach before he faded away again.

I wont do anything to the queen i just want to check her over completely." he would look with pleading eyes "we can save these people if we have the key they don't need to die. and holding hands is not working and as much as some of us want to cooperate others wont i don't want to fight you but i will if i have to." he said as he looked to her

Rita looks to the figure and asks " is the key death? you seem to have a real dislike for the queen, you sounded offended at the lack of an invite, and you love the chaos created by you ' Game ' You are, by your very nature the embodiment of Chaotic Evil. " she then looks to Raelle " yet the key could also the pleasure you get watching Raelle and Protea go at it over the crown. If I had to guess I would say putting the crown on Raelle would be the key, that or killing Protea; However I find the latter less likley because the loss of his plot piece would make for a very dull game. Being not a man of political intrigue, corporal Tanner had found himself somewhat out of his element. 'Manning-up' to doing his duty to keep others safe and ensure the queen's escape was one thing, but solving complex riddles by an ethereal game master was something else entirely.
"If the crown is the key... could be... Is this a tale of revenge? We all saw the heated verbal exchange earlier. Clearly there are those that believe Queen Protea is not the rightful heir... so... maybe..." the thought was forming. It was so close. He crossed his arms and let the idea roll out as it came, "Maybe... if this is revenge... or spite... or an attempt to right a wrong... Maybe somebody is doing this to us to get us to... uhhh... crown the person they think should be ruler?"
It was a strange idea, but not entirely without merit. "I mean, the key is in one of our hands. And somebody is holding the crown. What if we just need to put it on the right head?" Tanner shrugged and tried to keep from looking too embarrassed with his thoughts on the matter. He also then realized he needed to caveat what he just said, "Right head according to whoever is doing this to us, of course." Good save again!

Vici hadn't done much since giving Protea the potion to save her except occasionally try and stroke her mistress' hair or plead with Laelia silently. That was till some man came over and tried to inspect her. Manners no longer mattered and hadn't since Protea seemed to have fallen ill. If he could no revive her than Vici would not allow him near her mistress. She kicked at him and scowled waggling her finger at his face. Protea was not to be manhandled for anyone's pleasure for whatever reason. Vici was drawn unwillingly into this whole game as was her mistress and all she cared about was making sure her mistress would be safe. She turned to Protea again and looked down her form becoming a bit more transparent as time passed.

Thus far, holding hands, examining the Queen, holding the crown, random hand motions and random key words have not resulted in anything.

Cairogen hands his cup to Sune before lettiung go of the chain, seeing it as a pointless effort. He watches the others for a minute and grinned a bit at vici protecting Protea. He walks over kneels down and puts Vicis head gently "The key for everyone to be safe may have something to do with her, you know her best out of all of us. Look her over for anything odd, something out of place or something that makes you worried. If we can solve this im sure she'll wake up just fine" He takes a step back and tries with everything he can muster to use his mana vision, even just a few moments may be all they need to find the key, though what to do with it would still be up in the air, but at least they would know what it was.

Monet sighs and rolls her eyes, beginning to get irritated having to be stuck with all these people. She was not a people person, but she was complying with most's requests to test theories. When one of them approached her with the crown, she frowned deeply but lowered her head to let the crown sit on her head. She grimaced a bit at the feel of it as it brought back very bad memories for her of her deceased twin and her time with Laelia, Amika, and all those battles. She let it sit long enough for people to be satisfied before she yanked it off her hand and threw it back down at the person's feet where it sparked and the settled. Monet walked away from them now to get as far away from all the people as she could, settling in a corner to brood as she tried to push all those memories and emotions from her mind. Umbra had been quiet since this thing started... she suspected it was due to the limited magic here. He was hibernating because he was weak.

Cairogen had got Jacob's mind twirling with effort. "The queen part of the answer? Could be... If I were the game maker, I would eliminate the people who had foreknowledge of what the answers to my riddles were. Hence why the queen is currently under some spell. She might have already known the way out. I... I don't know," he frowned, "You may be on to something though... it could be an out-of-place-item on her?"
Now his mind was turning down a different path. "If I wanted to see which of my subjects and confidants were loyal, and what their character was made of, I... I might do a test such as this. See who led, who followed, who sacrificed, and who fled. But..." he ruffled his hair, "But we don't think the queen herself is involved right? I mean, that's silly?" his eyes flicked between the crowd. His cheeks were starting to get warm. Why was he talking so much?
He now made it his mission to bury his previous line of logic under a new one, "The key probably has something to do with the motives of whoever set this up. In all of the adventure books I read back at camp, the antagonist always ties the plot to his own intentions. The game began during a coronation. Coronations have royalty, crowns, servants, and guests," he wracked his brain, "And keys need to be taken to the lock in order to be useful. So whatever the key is, how do we get it to the lock?"
He winced as Monet tossed the crown aside, rubbish to the wind. Well, part of one theory had been crossed off.

Cairogen looked about a bit. He wasnt able to see much but he did see the magic surrounding the room, protea and the crown were they same. He watched Monet try to get away from everyone and shakes his head. "Well its not that, lets leave her alone, she is just along for the ride, like the rest of us" He rubs his eyes a bit as being limited like that put a strain on him using his vision "The crown is covered by the same magic as the room and Queen Protea. There is a chance its just residual, but also a good chance it is the Key. Try placing it against the silver door, put it in a chalice, see if a gem is misplaced, something. Its our best shot right now"

Ronnie remained quiet as the creature stood before him and was not letting him examine the queen. Laelia didn't seem to be currently responding to him. Ronnie began to lose interest in finding out the key,. He still had other suspicions, but wasn't really motivated to pursue.
Ronnie shakes his head at Laelia and the thing,“Never mind it's pointless.” Ronnie catches sight of the little goblin, possibly the game master appearing to tease the crowd with another riddle about the key, presumably the last clue he was going to give. Ronnie notice they went from holding hands to playing the pass the crown game. Ronnie wondered with so many military officials if the one partaking in the activity would be tried for treason. Having non royals try on the queen's crown had to be a criminal offense right, good intentions wouldn't matter. Ronnie did feel like the crown idea sounded like a good plan, because if everyone is transported to safety, then so would be the person with the crown, whom could run off with it.
Ronnie didn't have to worry about the crown to be passed to him as he had no history with the throne and most likely less connection to the mastermind behind the game. Ronnie only had his own priorities to deal with. Wulv seemed determined to see things to the end, meaning he had additional chances at him if people finally give up on the key. Ronnie other goal was to learn about the Vargos and there was two of them standing around.
The question was now whom should he target Alaeric or Monet. Ronnie first turns his attention to Monet after her the crowning idea did not work. Now was a perfect time to peer into her head about her family history and purpose, he did learn some things off ear from the ramblings of patrons, but there was nothing like learning from the horses mouth.
Ronnie would hold off from retrieving his knife and would approach her despite her trying to get away from everyone, “Monet Vargo aren't you. I noticed a lot of things happened when you got here and your family name seems to be tied to the throne and the queen, don't you have any idea who is behind all of this, maybe some enemies of high magical level. Knowing the intentions of the possible candidates can possibly lead to outcomes.” Ronnie wasn't really interested in the key, he just wanted an excuse for her to talk about herself and her family. She looked like she was in compliance with trying to figure out the key, which is why he structured his question the way he did. Ronnie was one of the few still wearing his mask and he did look at Alaeric as he was also an option to possibly learn more about the Vargos if Monet proved difficult.

The poison had to be drank it was true but it need not be drank by Tanner. A pointless matter as she could not convince him to give it up despite her efforts. She relaxed when the man sheathed his blade. To her surprise he was thanking her and calling her Ma’am which just served to make the former slave blush. He went on to say it wasn’t a matter of pride and gestured at those about.
He went on to say how everyone here was giving things he didn’t understand. She assumed he meant magic but then he was also talking of her leg. She bit back a sharp retort. Had she been given this leg? yes she had so that she might walk again and nothing more. It seemed to her he was saying that her past trouble no longer mattered because at least now she had the things she needed and so much more. She wanted to talk back and get angry about how it wasn’t always so but looked to Wulv and knew that despite how hard she found letting go of the pass to be the man was right.
She had suffered greatly but that was no longer the case. Did she understand what he was going through? Yes, but she no longer had to live it and that was ultimately the point he was trying to make. There was then talk about wanting to be part of something more and she could understand that too. Even with all her magic and her growing family Sune had been feeling more and more like she wasn’t really a part of much outside of being a part of a family. But which was more important? to be there for her family and lead and guid them like Ari had once done? or to seek out the same punishments this man pushed himself to face just to be a part of a bigger whole?
The woman frowned though as he went on to say she could save a town single handedly “Forgive me for being pedantic but that’s only partially true. It all depends on what is attacking said town as there are foe out there just as powerful as me if not more so” she sighed, feeling the need to at least make that point, that while she may have more magic than he could even conceive of there were still others that could give Sune a run for their money if not outright kill them.
She fell silent as he questioned their abilities to handle this particular poison, another good point and a point that had Sune not wanting Wulv to take the poison in the end. She would just sigh as he was now talking about his duty to protect others and would just nod. “Then I thank you.. Sir Jacob for your sacrifice” she would say to him, having to take a moment to remember his name as this was the first time she had met him.
At that point the voice spoke again and Sune frowned. “all right I need a show of hands. Who else is wiling to leave at this point? I have but one more cup of that ilk that needs to be drank.” she asked. Looking around and trying to figure out what might have changed in this room from the last one they were in.
She saw the thing on the table but paid it no mind. Being able to see it wouldn’t help them anyways. The answer wasn’t the cups for she wasn’t the only one holding them. Lialia was the only one holding Protea now and removing the crown from the queens head had done nothing.
As she thought on what to do Orisi started talking to the thing on the table and threatening it. Orisis don’t waste your breath. He is only going to enjoy it more” she said and would move to pat his arm to try and calm him. This failed and now he was barking out orders. He was right about one thing though, holding hands was not working. She didn’t like that Orisi was so wiling to fight the thing as she was sure any attempt to attack it would fail, then again she had been sure taking the crown off the queen would work too.
Sune grimaced as Rita asked if the key was death. Of course she would say that being that she was so wiling to drink poison earlier. she listened as Rita went on making verbal jabs at this thing, pointless, talking to it at all was pointless. All it did was distract them from the task at hand. though the suggestion of trying the crown on others head was a good one and she agreed that Protea shouldn’t be killed.
Her blue and black eyes then fell on Jacob as he got involved once more. He spoke of revenge and the disagreement over whom was the rightful heir. His conclusion being similar to Rita’s. So the question became which head to put the crown on?
Everyone then seemed to be trying to look and prod at the unconscious Protea. Or at least trying to. though Vici was also doing her best to stop them from doing so and wagging her finger in peoples faces. It was enough for Sune to feel sorry for the girl though the sight made her laugh a bit. She took Cairogens cup from them and put it away with the others for now. she knew she wouldn’t be holding onto them for much longer, they were running out of time and things to try. she smiled at seeing him go over and try to comfort Protea and walked over with him, handing vici the last escape cup. “here.. if you rink this you can leave with her and be at her side to watch over her” she smiled, hoping Vici would take and drink the cup. “It could be but it said only one of us holds the key now.. and well no one is holding her” she said to Cairogen She watched him try his magic and pat him on the shoulder. Then looked back over as Rita put the crown on Monet’s head and achieved nothing other than making Monet feel uncomfortable and move away from them all after tossing the crown to Rita’s feet. She sighed and felt like a failure for not being able to figure this out. She bet the answer was staring at them all in the face and she would be kicking herself for it after. Her thoughts interrupted once more by Jacob’s voice. He was talking of the queen again. and watching him ruffle his hair as he wondered if the queen was somehow involved in planing all of this. The mans face went red and she could only imagine what it must be like for him to question those he served under so openly. She could agree that the key has something to do with the motives of however set this up but as to hat motive those were she had no idea. Just as she had no idea what the crown was or how to get it to the lock.
Another sigh escape her and she looked to Cair “I have been sure the key was the crown from point one .. I just.. I just can’t figure out what to do with it.” she grumbled.

Nothing they had tried had worked. The key seemed further and further out of reach with every passing moment. They were now fighting over who would have the right to drink the poison. It was then that Laelia came to a decision. If they didn't care about their own lives, why should she? She would waste no more breath trying to save them.
Monet cast the crown onto the floor and Laelia eyed it with frustration. It sparked. Laelia frowned. When the imp had given his last hint, the crown had been in Laelia's hand. Her eyes narrowed. Could it be? So many hardships caused by the crown. Not that crown in particular, but the concept of Tyran's crown. So many heartaches, blood spilled, tears shed. It was hardly worth it. When would it be enough?
With that thought in mind, Laelia brought her booted foot down upon the crown, shattering it to pieces. Perhaps it was sheer spite. Perhaps it was an outlet of destruction that prevented her from slaking the urge on the people present. But whatever it was, it sure made her feel better.
"Zephyr, take a silver cup. We're moving forward. I've had enough of this."

Before anyone knew what happened, there was another loud explosion sound like when this whole thing started. The glow of the room vanished and they were standing in the servant chambers of the Blackthorn castle, and all the goblets were empty of their liquid. Raelle had felt a lot of gnawing pain in her gut for a brief moment and then... it was gone, and she was perfectly fine.
The goblin roared with laughter at them unseen somewhere in the above space of the room. "Thank you for playing folks. Sadly you figured out the key and won my game... so I keep my word, you are all safe. I promise you though, I will be seeing you all again in the future. Oh, and that "poison" you were all clambering to martyr yourselves for? It was just a potion that would have turned you into the opposite gender and teleported you out of here like the safe potion. It was fun to see you agonize over the idea that it might kill you though. I never did say that poison would cause death... hehehehe!" with the giggles fading, the creature was gone. Noone knew who or what it was, or where it had gone.
Protea suddenly stirred, and her eyes opened and blinked a few times as she looked around in utter confusion. "What the- what's going on?" she asked a bit weakly, but she could actually feel strength returning to her slowly. It seems that she was unconscious due to the suppression of magic. Being a magical creature, it had made her too weak to even stay conscious once the magic was nearly gone.
She noticed her crown smashed on the ground over by the General, and Raelle looking very unhappy. Monet was in the corner with some man, Sune and Wulv were huddled together holding cups. Why were there so many cups around? "Please, someone explain to me what just happened here??"
-Event Success-Congratulations everyone, you all made it through the event alive. The key was the crown, and as long as it was intact and in the vicinity... it would continue to keep you trapped. Ways it could have been solved were killing the Queen and breaking the magic connection to the crown, making the Queen escape WITH the crown by the potion thus breaking the connection of the castle and the crown, or... breaking the crown.
If the Queen had been left in the first room, you would have lost access to the key.
More details of the event to be posted for those that were curious. Good job, and thank you for participating!
You can continue the storyline here or in chat if you wish, but you are no longer trapped and no one died from the poison.

Orisimark would sigh "The key was the crown the whole time if we had figured that out the first time we wouldn't all had to risk death i mean look at all of us we were at each other throats we need to find a way to work together and fix this i mean the only person making sense in the cup room was sune even i freaked out a little bit." he said as he looked around "it seems we could learn lessons from this game as well."

Monet eyed Ronnie who had dared follow her when it was clear that she was trying to get some space from the madness of the group. "Of course I don't know anything," she started to say, anger rising in her voice. She was very close to letting loose on this man who had dared poke at her when she was obviously already an emotional mess when...
Everything was back to normal. Monet had stopped mid-conversation and quickly pushed past Ronnie to approach Laelia, looking down at the crown she had smashed. "The crown... really?" she rolled her eyes and groaned. It figured. It was so simple, yet was hidden right under their noses so they hadn't suspected it. Or if any did... they hadn't acted on it. Maybe they were afraid of the crown since what Laelia just did would normally be considered high treason. "You saved us Commander, er... General. Thank you."
Monet did something very uncharacteristic for her in front of others, though it would probably be no surprise to Laelia herself. She leaned forward and hugged Laelia, then kissed her cheek and stepped back. She briefly looked over at Zephyr, having purposefully been keeping her distance from him during this and now realized exactly how close he was to her for the first time. She gave him a rare smile and bowed her head just slightly, before then moving past the two of them.
Looking to Wulv and Sune, she bowed her head to them, then she looked to Cairo and smirked at him essentially saying 'next time' through her look. Finally, her eyes settled on Alaeric for a long time, still wondering what that strange spark had meant when they clasped hands. Half frowning, she turned away and began to leave the group of people and get the hell away from it all. Staying any longer would be no good for her, as she was certain people would be waiting outside panicked and soon family, friends, clansmen would all be clambering into the castle to check on loved ones. Monet wanted none of it and quickly made her way through passages only she and others of her prior court knew of in the castle to escape and get outside, exiting by the woods where she took a moment to collect herself.

Cairogen just sat there for a moment and shook his head "So it wasnt residual after all. Oh well...now that thats taken care of.." He rests for a minute longer before looking to Laelia "Congrats General Kaliba, you saved everyone here" He watches Monet as she hugs Laelia then walk by and give him a smirk. He gives her a thumbs up then looks to sune holding his hand out "Gimme my cup back, im gonna keep that as a souvenir, not to mention examine the magics on it and try to track that little gremlin turd down and see how far my foot goes up his bum before he croaks" He looked over towards Protea for a moment and Vici who would no doubt be fawning over the Queen "See? i told you everything would be ok little one"
