Maggie was sure of one thing at this point her life, staying in one place meant boardom. She was now a corporal in the Queen generals army. She respected her, well , Maggie ought too she took the time to pledge her life to her.
She had watched for days as the ship she was supposed to travel on was fitted.
The ship it self was made for travel. It was made for speed to travel up to 100 miles on a day. Which a cargo hold that could carry plenty of water wine and ale with a silver coin in each barrel to prevent it form.going stale . Perseved food that were dried, salted or honeyed.
Then the day camed where they could board the ship. Of course the more wise and weathered crew had warned Maggie's that the travel would be long and boaring that she would spend more days looking at vast amounts of endless ocean then land and that sometimes even members of the crew would go crazy.
Maggie would just nod her head . She had her gitturn she made sure of that and she had her ruck sack full of everything she would need. Including the magical necklace from her father that would make it possible. For her and her family to communicate.
The one thing she did regret was not being able to say good bye to her boyfirend in person and she wished she didn't it have to hide her leaving from her sister ginger.
Some wished her well, some did not agree with her choices mostly because of the fact she could die , but death was a part of life something Maggie learned at a very early age perhaps too early,And she knew that death was a very real part of her choice . She knew she could die out at sea. She knew she could die in battle.
The thing most people failed to realize about Maggie that while she wanted to live, and would fight for her life and the lives of her comrads, she was not afraid of death. It did not scare her. She didn't know what happened after you died, which to Maggie's just made it another adventure.
She waved at everyone who wished to see her off . And then she climbed aboard and the ship made its way off to sea.

The first few weeks at sea were terrible for Maggie she was not used to the salt smell the rocking and the weaving the endless sound of the sea pounding against the ship and she often lost her stomach more then she ate, soon enough she gained her sea legs, she began to appreciate the things that made her sick they were like a lullybye to her now.
Maggie followed her orders well. She enjoyed the structure. Her choas enjoyed the structure, it kept her natural ability in check. Her music did too. Music was creative and structured.
Music could creates moods. Music along with natural nardic abilities could create just about anymood she wanted. When the traveling was slow and they would be board , and playing dice or card games was just not enough for entertainment . Mags would break out her gitturn and sing or she would tell stories.her stories were always full hope and dreams fulfilled. The could be romantic,or funny or sometimes just down right raunchy. She refused tragedy or sadness or death.
The games added a bit of chaos .as did the gambling. Which was just for fun .
At meals times they would gather around a communal pot and eat. It was usually consisted of hardtack or as they were called on a ship sea buiscuts- legumes and salted meats . And of course citrus of some kind.
The days and weeks seem to melt together and most of her free time was either spent practising her sword techniques or archery she often spent time with cartographer.

One particular day when there was no entertainment to be found and the winds were quiet and they could not travel so fast .. Maggie was sitting by the edge of the boat looking over the side. Staring into.the deep water of the ocean. That endless dark water that seemed to have no bottom. she was lost in a kind of meditation of her own mind.
When all of a sudden something splashed out the water and arched back in, then more and more started coming. Dolphins what seemed like hundreds of them ..she had to ask what they were , and the sight of it was unlike anything she could ever imagine.
She journeled at night as well though her drawing skills where something to be desired she kept track of everything she saw dolphins whales, sharkes, schools of fish. If they could catch something they did . When it rained they refilled their water buckets .
Though Maggie soon learned the elder sea dogs were right .. there was usually more boardom then excitement

The first time in what seemed like months they had spotted land .
It was a small island , everybody was excited there was cheering and ruckus ..but the capitain and lieutenants soon calmed everyone down. This was an small but unknown island filled with trees. It might not hold hope of food , but it did hold hope of fresh water.
The young ones including Maggie were the first to volunteer to go ashore. Of course observation came first which annoyed Maggie to no end, but after a few stories about cannibles and secret pirate holds and one lecture about how jumping in head first could mean certain death for everybody. She let out a deep sigh and became patient .
They observed the shore line, for Maggie this felt like months of course it was probably more close to a week . This island though small and seemed most to be inhabited by birds held no " human" life no smoke from fires no people . No ships coming and going .. they sent a small boat forward. To scout first, Maggie was lucky to be choosen.
The new of course were required to row the boat ashore along with three others who had scouted before. And were more skilled in case something did pop out . As soon as the small boat hit the sand Maggie jumped out and made sure it held secure .
They made sure the area was safe .. one could walk around the whole of the island in half a day . Indeed there were nothing but trees and birds , but it did hold fresh water and they used this time to refill the water to eat some of the fresh fruits and nuts the island had and to allow everybody on ship some time on land.
It was a nice break from the monotony at sea , it was nice to be around land even if it was sand and it was nice to see trees. Hear birds . Maggie of journeled and then called her family at night. She imagined she would be gone for a year before she returned .
And while this bothered some it didn't bother Maggie , the choas of the unknown suited Maggie well.
As soon as everybody had rested they were off again . They named the island reprive,

Life at sea was not all sunshine and fkast blowing wind sometime the wind blew too fast and to hard, and soon the storm clouds rolled in and the sea began toss the boat around .
While most ships feared pirates and pirates didn't fear much, everybody knew that storm at sea was something to be scared of. Ships that sank took everybody with them . A man washed off board was a man lost forever. A ship turned on it's side was ship gone along with the crew and well too much water ..was just the same.
The first rule was the heaver the ship the studier the ship and everyone was glad that that island had proved to be usefull on refilling the water . To add the weight back .
They were lucky they had enough time to put the storm sails up but not enough that would crack the masts and yard arms. With ropes tied about their waists .. and moving the ship to sail at angle to the wind as the prow of the ship was the strduiest and could handle the most damage
Maggie watch it horror as wave after wave pounded the ship like foamy jaws gnawing at them sticking there flesh with the cold and unforging self . Maggie was learning and inportant lesson the sea held no mercy no matter your good or bad intentions , skill and luck went hand in in hand

Maggie heard a scream as rope from a fellow mate had snapped loose .. she desperately tried to grab him as another wave pounded the boat she held his hands with all her strength, tried to pull him back on to the boat when another wave slammed into them and he slipped out of her graps .. she screamed out as she tried to run but strong arms of a fellow crew held her back , yelling in her ear that he was lost. And that of she went after him she would be lost too
The storm calmed after an hour or so and the shivered under the last pitter pats of rain and finally the sun came out . They had to assess the damage but all we're worn and tired . They had bruises and sore muscles some were sea sick and just laying down . They had lost two crew men to the storm.
As Maggie's rested for a bit and the sun seemed to dry the salt To their skin and clothes ..she felt like the dry brined meat in the barrels below .

The damaged was accessed and the excess water taken out of the bottom of the ship and everything had been dried off and they all had a good couple days of rest. They had a memorial service for the two who had died. Maggie sang a song. Out if all the things damaged her gitturn was not one. She chalked this up to some sort of divine intervention. Though she didn't say that .
The next few weeks went on as normal . Back to the monotony and the endless abyss one could see from horizen to horizen. And one could only guess how far they had gone off track.

It was then Maggie heard singing now being somewhat of siren herself she could feel that magick from the song . She looked off and there she saw mermaids and mermen singing and showing off their wiles.
" Plug your ears !!!!!" She screamed it and she ran around the ship " damnit plug your ears !!!" A few had the time others did not . The person at the wheel of the ship did not and soon he was directing the ship to the Rocky shore where they would surely meet there demise.
Maggie tackled him to the ground and held him their and they wrestled while another man began tonstear the boat away . It was chaos .. as some men had time to plug there ears with cotton and some didn't . There were Men and women trying to jump over board while others tackled them dragging them down below and locking them in the gallows while other just closed their eyes and put their fingers in their ear and yelled at the top of their lungs not to hear the songs . The ship barely avoided the Rocky crevice and soon not a note could be heard .
The would put this place on the map . And make warning about it's inhabitants. Called it siren song rocks

Two more weeks had passed and they had found land once again only this seemed much larger
It had green rolling hills far as the eye could see with deep valleys and large healthy trees. They could see wild life and birds
The same applied they did their observence keeping the ship ready to fly of they needed two because this was a larger they would stay aboard the ship . And watch they would watch for signs of life any humanoid life.

After several days at least two weeks, they had seen no sign of life. Not anything human anyway. They sent a small scouting party up first . Magdalena was not in this one. They had soucted for nearly a day and still had not reached the other side nor did they find any trails or signs that anything lived there. This was a good place to set up a base for a few weeks and give everybody a nice long break from the sea .
After all clear was given brought the ship in as far as they could and set the anchor down. They did not make base camp untill they we're sure they would not start a war by impeading on territory that was not there's or a place they were not welcome .
Most of the next two weeks was scouting and living in the ship hunting food and using fresh water from the streams and rivers they found. It was also nice to take a bath. The older seaman we're getting a little nervous This trip besides a few hangups had gone smoothly maybe to smoothly and it made them nervous .
Magdelena who relied onthe wisdom of the elders and more experienced copied what they did. She took her job seriously she had alot of people to impress including herself. She understood she would make mistakes , but why not also learn from the mistakes of other people.

During this time they worked on building a shelter for themselve, Building up a base. And learning the lay of the land.
During one such scouting as they never went more then a day or two out before returning in either direction. They came across what appeared to be at one time a villiage. There were straw hut that were nothing more then structures. No outwordly signs of battle had taken place.there were lots of skeletons, some in beds some laying on the ground.
They called in the healer and the alchemist and from there studies it seemed this villiage had died from a plauge but judging by the bones and how dilapidated the entire villiage was .they had been here like this for a good 60 years.
They were ordered to put on face masks. Every precaution was taken and nothing was kept. The well was boarded up because the source of illness could have come from the water .There was no way to tell.
Then they proceeded to burn the rest of it down. And bury the bones. They carved in memory of the unkown on wooden sign out front. And had a little memorial service for those they didn't know .

As Tim went one the scouting parties in any direction got longer and longer . Two days turned into three days and three days turned into 4 ..and so on and so forth till they reached the other side. It was indeed an island . It would take 7 days from the point they landed to go north and 7 days back. All signs of villages showed the same as the first.
A large plauge of some sort had struck the island and it's inhabitants as few as there were, had died from it. Since they had been drinking the streams and fresh water througout this journey ..they had rulled out the source of water being the case. Which was a good thing
They looked in each villiage for anything that would give them clues. As to what wiped the population out and there searches were fruitless.

After a about a month they had completely mapped the entire island . They had found farmlandsbthat had grown wild.
It was in one such farmland place they found their first clue. A journal written in a language they could not understand. The most educated of the groups who had studied the most laugages began to pour over the books .
The house seemed to be of a alchemistor a healer of some kind. Unmarked and faded labels on bottels we're everywhere . Some could be recognized straight away by those who knew what they were looking at . But most were unknown.theybwaybthe skeleton of the person laid showed he more then likely died of old age. And the study of his bones reviled he was alive up untill a few years ago.

Maggie could only mostly hang out and keep watch she was noscholar of languages or healer or alchemist who knew of such things
She did notice however a hawk would perch it self on the roof of the cabin everyday . And watch them. And sometime follow them on their way back to the base . Which they have moved to the middle of island near a fresh water source.
Some saw this as a good omen , some saw the hawk as a bad omen but either way people left it alone .Maggie however started to make friends with it. She started feeding scraps of her meat rations. Untill one day she held out her arm and there it perched staring at her and she was able to feed it by hand. She began to build a rapor with this hawk. And after a time she was able to give it simple commands .
After a two months they we're hunting together.
The commanding officer didn't see this as a bad thing . And thought that If Maggie could devlop this skill more it would definitely help in the scouting. Between Maggie and her bird they had the best hunting.

On a rather boring day, they finally were finally able the crack the code. On the journals of this alchemist healer they had found. It was form of anchient elven he was writing in .
They had called a meeting of the commanding officers to see what they had found. It was broken of course they would have to find elven linguist to fully translate . When they got back to tyran .
They would say apprently the man went mad, the further they got into his journals the less he making sense. He was not native to this island . He had been shipwrecked some miles off the coast and was saved by one of the costal villiages.
He had made himself usefull bycultivating the wild grapes and making a very sweet wine he then Bartered with villiages,for other supplies . Then he began to slowly poisen the bottles of wine. He got very paranoid, and mentally unstable claiming the villiages were going to kill him over his wine recipe
Because the voices of the spirits began to speak to him. And told him so .
This solved the mystery of why all the small.villiages died . This brought ease but also another onset of paranoia ..where there evil creatures of this island that spoke to this man. Or was it just his mine. They had better be safer then sorry And they shared the information so that everyone could be on their gaurd for something that might invade their thoughts .

It was Maggie's free day not that it mattered much on this island , but it gave Maggie time to explore on her own . She petted the hawk that she had made friends with on the head softly and it rode along on her shoulder . She had padded herself with extra leather . So it would have a place to sit .
Maggie had grown quite a bit in the months that she had been gone.
Today she had her gitturn on the beach and was practicing a bard spell kind of like whisper message, and she was attempting to, Write a letter home to berri . The letter might be choppy and sightly incohearent as this was the first time trying it . But at least berri woukd know she was alive and still had all her limbs .
She had to entertain herself somehow . She had a whole day and part of an evening to waste.
" Well if want to.follow me home" she looked at the hawk , when we leave this island you'll meet Berri, she pretty grumpy and if she gets the message . The return one is gonna be her yelling at me for how awefull it is " she giggles .
The goshawk sits on Maggie's shoulder and gives the lobe of her ear and affectionate nibble before hopping down to a fallen tree in the sand spreading her wings out and mantling a bit as she lets out a loud screech.

She giggles when she gets nibbled affectionately. And watches it sun itself in the beach . She just had her army clothes but since it was her free day she kept her shoes off . Wriggling her toes in the sand " you know what I find amazing about you , it's like you understand every word I say to you , would you like to hear some more music ?"
The hawk turns her head sideways to look at Maggie with one of those deep red eyes and screeches a response before waving her wings a couple times as if getting ready to take off again beforre suddenly flipping them to her back and settling there to watch Maggie

Maggie watched it thinking it was going to take off ..but the hawk did.not
Maggie really didn't ever try to pin it down . The hawk could come and go as pleased .
She started in on practice song she got from berri that was very meticulous and required lots of finger work . But it was nice to have an audience . She was slow as she got her rythem and then she began to play the song .. over and over .. the song was teaching her how to jump from note to note seamlessly .
The hawk mantles again and lets out a different sort of cry and then where in one moment stood a hawk now sat a very naked woman, still bearing the bluish grey wings of the hawk, and her eyes when they look up at Maggie are still red.

Maggie was looking down at the paper . The she was holding with her Sandy toes .. not at all watching her fingers . She knew where the notes should be placed ,she just needed to practice the song and memorize the song
She looked up for moment and her notes we t off tune as she the hawk had changed she was more then a little shocked . Not at her naked body but the fact the hawk had changed completely except for it wings and eyes
The hawk stretches with little concern for her lack of dress and considers Maggie a moment, then down at herself, a moment later she has copied Maggie's form down to the littlest detail except for the eyes

Maggie was flabbergasted . She couldn't speak her hands still in mid pluck if her guitar. She could only stare at what was her hawk,then a naked woman ..then her very self . She was staring at once she had started to get her bearings .. the first thing she did was look around to make sure no one had followed her " can you speak like me ?"
The hawk woman smiles at Maggie "Yes, I have been listening to you for awhile." her voice sounds just like Maggie's at the moment.
Maggie didn't think she sounded like that . She kind of frowned was her voice really that feminine sounding . She always though she sounded tough and commanding. She really didn't.
She would sound like a typical 15 year old girl . But with the tone the hawk offered " so was your first form ...your real form ?
The hawk woman tilts her head in an approximation of the way she would as a hawk "Yes?"
Bludsnow bunny : was just an innocent bunny on the island, frolicing around. It stopped hidden in a bush near Maggie and the Hawk watching carefully. Hawks were not friends to bunnies. It looked like a plain white bunny with a kind of redish purple eyes.

She heard the shuffling of the little innocent bunny , but didn't think much of it well because , she was focused on her hawk that looked like her at the moment " don't let anyone but me see you , I am not sure how the other would react esspecially the commanding officer , if they knew you could actually relay information and understand it " she thought for a moment " what is your name ?"
The hawk woman smiles at her not noticing the bunny at the moment "Only soft form for you." she giggles then and looks a bit blank about names before coming out with "Shae, I am Shae."
Bludsnow Bunny:just sits quietly watching the two as it chews on something. Every time it seemed to finish chewing it would move back into the bush then re-emerge chewing again.

She did think about getting her arrows out to shoot the bunny for stew .. but right now was very fascinated with this hawk she found " were you the alchemists companion ? " .. plus the bunny was actually kinda cute and Maggie was not in the habit of killing everything she saw for food .
[Shae] nods at that "Companion, now your companion." a smile at Maggie and then she follows her sight to the bunny, the hawk not hungry yet but she looks back to Maggie "Strike?"
Bludsnow bunny : returns from one of his little trips chewing again, something pinkish with a bit of red hanging from its mouth for a minute before it was pulled in to be chewed on.

She thought for a moment then smiled as the hawk she said she was now Maggie's companion , for some reason the thought of having a companion pleased her, .then she considered the bunny as I seemed to be chewing something stringy .." I'm not in the hunting party today ..but if you would like to have more then my shared rations .. I will help you " .. she slowly got her bow from her back with an arrow.
[Shae] considers the bunny carefully "That is not normal. Shouldn't mess with the unnatural."
Bludsnow bunny: looked immediately to Maggie as she got the bow out. It stopped chewing and stared intently at her like it knew what she was planing.

Indeed the bunny had intelligence. She stared at the bunny and it stared back at her and she got a feeling in the pit of her stomach ..even if it were not for shae telling her the bunny was unnatural .. then she noticed what ever it was chewing on smelled like blood . " Is ..that...bunny ...eating ...blood ?"
[Shae] tilts her head "Innards." she looks pleased with that "The best parts."
Bludsnow bunny : continues watching her, its fur bristling up as if one looked closel;y they could see blood soaked fur under its mouth

Maggie was not gonna put her bow away not after confirming this was a canniable bunny of some sort . She did lower it but she kept it cocked . " Well your probably right , " it indeed was unnatural .she back away facing it . Slid her Sandy feet into her boots .. and moved her gitturn to her back " maybe we should explore a different beach"
[Shae] beams at her "Whatever you wish." and folds her wings about herself as she stands next to Maggie
Bludstone bunny : calms down and continues to eat whatever was hidden away in the bush, but still continued to come out and watch them.

Maggie thought the bunny was definitely unnerving- but she couldn't deny the innards were the best part ..innards made sausages, And sausages were delicious
She put her bow away as the bunny backed down and held out her arm for her hawk and started walking a bit down farther on the beach .
" Besides I haven't tried dad's magical communication stone, to see if the magick works this far, and I have to wait to hear back from berri to see if my music message was sent "
[Shae] jumps up in the air and shifts to her goshawk form in midair flapping up to land on Maggie's arm gazing at her intently

Maggie was going to as the her share later about the alchemist that went insane . If the voices were real or if he has simply gone mad .
She gets far away from the bunny , she would definitely have to tell her commanding officer about what she observed of the. Bunny , Incase they ran in hordes .

didnt do much of anything besides simply followed them. Cair picks up on the other end "Yeah im here mags, whats up?" He was currently overseeing another pipe laying project in the capitals southside.

Maggie had been gone for about three to four months out at sea , the last time they had seen or heaed from mags .. was when she was waving everybody off on the ship " dad !" ...she proceeded to tell him everything that had happened for the last three month the days where nothing happened and how boring it had been .. the huge storm they went through, that almost drown them all and how the waves were so big and viscious they swept crew right off the ship . How they ran into sirens .. how she had seen dolphins and huge fish . Whales . And now she was on a island .. " I don't think I should talk much about that though .. untill we get back ". She kept petting her shae . The whole time " how are you ? How's Mom ?..how kalauwa" she took the time to name Everyone one of her brothers sisters .
[Shae] rubs her head against Maggie's cheek and watches the spot the voice comes from curiously
Bludsnow:
moves up just out of her gaze to sit next to her foot.
Cair listens to it all though his typist hasnt read a thing of it yet "Sounds like your really out there. Dont let the boring parts get you down. Truth be told most journeys are boring as hell. Everyones fine here for the most part. Not much going on at home but ive been busy working on updating the capitals infrastructure so they may have been keeping me out of the loop."

Maggie listens to him " well I am not sure word has been brought tonthe queen yet either I am sire they have ways of communication , they keep secret , just like I'm keeping this stone secret . Oh. I have a hawk compaionon " she winks at shae .." she helps me hunt ..oh dad .. have you ever heard of a bunny that eats meat ..like a carnivorous bunny ?" She looked around and saw it by her foot .. she she kept still she didn't like it there .. it might try to eat her foot luckily she. Did slider her leather boots on .. so at least if it got hungry. She would have a little chance to get away .
. I guess she changed her mind about mentioning Shea she just wouldn't tell him she is a changeling like her
[Shae] tilts her head looking down and keeping an eye on the strange rabbit
Bludsnow: looks back up at them both and gives a creepy grin showing it teeth.
Cair stops for a second "A carnivourous bunny? Really?" He gives an audible sigh "Just ignore him. If he does anything stupid just knock him on the head. If he annoys you feel free to shave him bald, he wont bite you."

Maggie kinda smiles back she really wasn't sure that was the best advice ..but she just says " okay ," ..she wanted to talk longer but didn't want anybody coming by and seeing her talk to stone with the paranoia of the voices " I should get going tell Mom everything and if you happen to be in NightHaven could you drop by hot and Gwen's and give a message to berri ..that I'm doing okay since I can't really write letters.. love you tell Mom I love her , tell all the munchkins I love them" ... She was very much relying on Shae to watch the bunny
[Shae] gives a small hawk cry at the bunny and half spreads her wings
the bunny shakes his head and seems to be annoyed at what cair said. It ignored shaes cry alltogether.
Cair gives a small laugh "Its a McArther being stupid, dont mind him. But yeal i'll tell Berrie for you, everyone else can hear you after all. Dont know why they havnt chimed in any but i'll make sure they heard you none the less. Take care Mags"
